A self-consistent quantal description of high-K states in the tilted-axis cranking model
A self-consistent and quantal description of high- bands is given in the
framework of the tilted-axis cranking model. (With a tilt
angle with respect to -axis, this cranking model is equivalent to the
-axis cranking.) The numerical results of the HFB calculations in this
framework are compared with experimental data for two quasi-particle excited
bands with in W.Comment: 13 pages, including 5 figures and 1 tabl
Three-dimensional rotation of even-even triaxial nuclei
With the self-consistent three-dimensional cranked Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov
(3d-cranked HFB) method, various types of rotational motion near the yrast line
are investigated in an even-even nucleus in the mass region
(Ce). The possibilities of chiral rotations,
tilted-rotations, and dynamical aspects of these rotations are discussed
through the analysis of the 3d-cranked HFB solutions. Although a stable planar
solution of the chiral rotation is obtained, an aplanar chiral configuration is
found to be unstable when triaxial deformation is treated self-consistently.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures; accepted for publication in Phys. Lett.
Shape coexistence and tilted-axis rotation in neutron-rich hafnium isotopes
We have performed tilted-axis-cranked Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations
for a neutron-rich hafnium isotope (Hf) whose proton and neutron
numbers are both in the upper shell region. We study whether the shell effects
play a role in producing high- isomers or highly gamma-deformed states at
high spin. In particular, the possibility of shape coexistence and the effect
of wobbling motion are discussed.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, to be published in Phys. Lett.
Socio Economic Assessment of Urban Forestry Respondents’ income in Okiti Pupa, Ondo State, Nigeria
The paper investigates the socio economic assessment of urban forestry respondents’ income in Okitipupa, Nigeria. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and these were administered to 200 urban forestry respondents. Data were collected on socioeconomic characteristics viz: age, gender, marital status, educational status, credit access and other household variables. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression models. Results revealed that the average age of the respondent was estimated to be 47 years. Majority of respondents (56.40%) falls within the ages of 31-40, while those whose ages were above 60years were 06.98%. Multiple Regression Model revealed that age, education, experience, gender and farm size have significant relationship (p<0.01) with income of respondents. Higher income would significantly lead to larger amount of donation for urban forestry programme. In order to encourage the respondents, the government should create enabling environment and publicized the importance of forest in urban settlement. Education should be made available to the urban dwellers at the grass root level. ©JASEMKeywords: Income, urban forest, education, ag
Supervisors’ and subordinates’ perception of the Impact of Botswana College of Agriculture training programme on Graduates’ Job behaviour.
This study was a descriptive survey, which ascertained supervisors and subordinates perception of the impact of Botswana College of Agriculture training programme on graduates’ job behaviour. The study was carried out in the Ministry of Agriculture, Gaborone, Botswana, which is composed of six departments. All BCA graduates employed in each department, their supervisors and subordinates were the population of the study. A simple random sampling technique was used to select 34 graduates and thecorresponding supervisors (27) and subordinates (19) were selected in order to reduce response errors due to bias and to triangulate the responses. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection and were analyzed with the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16 using frequencies counts, percentages and one-way analysisof variance. The results show that there is male dominance among graduates, supervisors and subordinates. Majority of graduates (53%) are between 26-35 years while for the supervisors the range is 36-45 years however, subordinates are in the same range as graduates. At least 50 percent graduates indicated moderate competence in 27 out of 30work based competencies. Supervisors indicated that at least 50 percent of the graduates have moderate competence in 21 out of the 30 listed activities while subordinates indicated that at least 50 percent of the graduates were rated to have moderate competence in 19 out of the 30 activities. In terms of meeting the expectations of supervisors andsubordinates at least 70 percent of the graduates indicated that they meet expectations of their supervisors and subordinates in 12 out of the listed activities. Supervisors indicated that at least 70 percent of the graduates meet their expectations only in 8 out of the listed activities while subordinates rated that at least 70 percent of the graduates meet theirexpectations in 5 out of the 30 listed activities .One-way analysis of variance shows that a significance difference exists (F = 3.81, p < 0.05) in perception of the impact of Botswana College of Agriculture training programme on graduates’ job behaviour among graduates, supervisors and subordinates. The mean scores show that graduates havethe highest mean 98.29 while subordinates have the lowest mean of 86.94. It therefore implies that the rating of graduates by their supervisors and subordinates is lower than that of the graduates and the graduate ratings can also not be considered as valid because of the shortcomings associated with self rating. There is need to improve the trainingprogramme such that graduates can be rated independently as competent individuals
Robust Charge-based Qubit Encoding
We propose a simple encoding of charge-based quantum dot qubits which
protects against fluctuating electric fields by charge symmetry. We analyse the
reduction of coupling to noise due to nearby charge traps and present single
qubit gates. The relative advantage of the encoding increases with lower charge
trap density.Comment: 6 Pages, 7 Figures. Published Versio
Direct estimation of functionals of density operators by local operations and classical communication
We present a method of direct estimation of important properties of a shared bipartite quantum state, within the "distant laboratories" paradigm, using only local operations and classical communication. We apply this procedure to spectrum estimation of shared states, and locally implementable structural physical approximations to incompletely positive maps. This procedure can also be applied to the estimation of channel capacity and measures of entanglement
