Tourism and the advances that technology has had over the years have turned into useful instruments that are used to develop platforms and virtual touristic environments that can help in its management and positioning promotion-wise. The objective is to design a virtual touristic environment that will promote service providers, cultural activities, routes and touristic attractions that are found in the province of Tungurahua, and which include natural resources and historical sites that have not been exploited yet. The virtual environment’s goal is to integrate relevant information for tourists in the area, plus destinations and locations using a map, geolocation and georeferencing functions. The goal is to increase the flow of national and foreign visitors by using audiovisual archives or files. The validation of the goals was based on studies about the characteristics and the behavior of the tourists and information obtained from national public companies that are primarily related to tourism

The use of industrial waste as a substrate is a worldwide trend, whey is one of them. The objective of the research was to find the combination of temperature and pH that maximizes the productivity of lactic acid with the use of whey and Lactobacillus casei. The temperature variables were evaluated in the values of (29, 31.1, 37, 42.7 and 45 °C) and pH (4.8, 5, 5.5, 6 and 6.2) to find optimal parameters of the bioprocess that maximize the volumetric productivity of lactic acid. by using the Central Composite Design using the Design Expert 11.0 program. Thirteen runs were carried out. The validity of the quadratic model was verified through 3 repetitions with the optimal parameters suggested by the program, and it was determined that the conditions for maximizing volumetric productivity are 40.2 °C of temperature and 5.6 of pH, reaching values of 1.2 g. l-1h-1 and it was confirmed that there is no significant difference (p ≤ 0.05) with the values provided by the model. Concluding that the optimal values of temperature and pH found were close to those reported by other authors and it was shown that whey has great potential to be used as a substrate.

Aerobiology of the Wheat Blast Pathogen - Inoculum Monitoring and Detection of Fungicide Resistance Alleles

Wheat blast, caused by the ascomycetous fungus Pyricularia oryzae Triticum lineage (PoTl), is mainly controlled by fungicide use, but resistance to the main fungicide groups—sterol demethylase (DMI), quinone outside (QoI), and succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors (SDHI)—has been reported in Brazil. In order to rationalize fungicide inputs (e.g., choice, timing, dose-rate, spray number, and mixing/alternation) for managing wheat blast, we describe a new monitoring tool, enabling the quantitative measurement of pathogen’s inoculum levels and detection of fungicide resistance alleles. Wheat blast airborne spores (aerosol populations) were monitored at Londrina in Paraná State, a major wheat cropping region in Brazil, using an automated high-volume cyclone coupled with a lab-based quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) assay. The objectives of our study were as follows: (1) to monitor the amount of PoTl airborne conidia during 2019–2021 based on DNA detection, (2) to reveal the prevalence of QoI resistant (QoI-R) cytochrome b alleles in aerosol populations of wheat blast, and (3) to determine the impact of weather on the dynamics of wheat blast aerosol populations and spread of QoI resistant alleles. PoTl inoculum was consistently detected in aerosols during the wheat cropping seasons from 2019 to 2021, but amounts varied significantly between seasons, with highest amounts detected in 2019. High peaks of PoTl DNA were also continuously detected during the off-season in 2020 and 2021. The prevalence of QoI resistant (QoI-R) cytochrome b G143A alleles in aerosol populations was also determined for a subset of 10 PoTl positive DNA samples with frequencies varying between 10 and 91% using a combination of PCR-amplification and SNP detection pyrosequencing. Statistically significant but low correlations were found between the levels of pathogen and the weather variables. In conclusion, for wheat blast, this system provided prior detection of airborne spore levels of the pathogen and of the prevalence of fungicide resistance alleles

Ecuador's experiment in living well:Sumak kawsay, Spinoza and the inadequacy of ideas

In April 2017 Ecuador halted the continental drift to the conservative right in Latin America by electing leftist Lenín Moreno to the Presidency. Attention has turned, therefore, to the legacy of outgoing President Rafael Correa’s decade in power. To that end, this paper examines one of Correa’s signature programmes, ‘Buen Vivir’ (Living Well), a strategic plan for development underscored by the indigenous Kichwa cosmology of ‘sumak kawsay’. Sumak kawsay is a notion that has been co-opted into policy mechanisms in an attempt to both challenge neoliberal modes of governance, and to disrupt the ontological bifurcation of nature and society. Given the emphasis placed on ecological sensibility in sumak kawsay and Buen Vivir, critics have been quick to highlight the contradictory relations between Ecuador’s mode of environmental governance and its extractivist agenda. Such critiques are as staid as they are well rehearsed. Acknowledging the precarious composition of sumak kawsay, the paper questions the extent to which the ethos of experimentalism in politics can be sustained, eliding stymied technocratic forms of the political. It turns, therefore, to Baruch Spinoza’s treatise on adequate and inadequate ideas. In so doing, the paper examines how one can critique an idea without perpetuating a moral economy in judgment. Consequently, the paper considers the way in which Spinoza’s thought can be charged to recuperate imperilled political ideas

This work presents the development and implementation of an integral Business Continuity Plan for year 2009 in a company that provides maintenance and repair service of audio and video equipment, home appliances and computers. For this development, we include a brief description of the company, an analysis and evaluation of the potential risks and threats to which the company is exposed to. We have developed Business Impact Analysis (BIA), which analyzes the financial and operation impact of events that may disrupt any areas and procedures of the business. Also, continuity strategies have been developed; an Emergency committee team has been presented whose main objective is the creation of a written plan detailing the actions, procedures and resources that must be used during the disruption event. Moreover, various recovery alternatives will be developed in case of any emergency affects the business. A series of test will determine, within an acceptable timeframe, if the BCP is adequate for the recuperation of the company. We also include the plan’s maintenance phase and finally we present the conclusion and recommendation of the work done
