Tripartite entanglement dynamics in a system of strongly driven qubits
We study the dynamics of tripartite entanglement in a system of two strongly
driven qubits individually coupled to a dissipative cavity. We aim at
explanation of the previously noted entanglement revival between two qubits in
this system. We show that the periods of entanglement loss correspond to the
strong tripartite entanglement between the qubits and the cavity and the
recovery has to do with an inverse process. We demonstrate that the overall
process of qubit-qubit entanglement loss is due to the second order coupling to
the external continuum which explains the exp[-g^2 t/2+g^2 k t^3/6+\cdot] for
of the entanglement loss reported previously.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure
Brachistochrone of Entanglement for Spin Chains
We analytically investigate the role of entanglement in time-optimal state
evolution as an appli- cation of the quantum brachistochrone, a general method
for obtaining the optimal time-dependent Hamiltonian for reaching a target
quantum state. As a model, we treat two qubits indirectly cou- pled through an
intermediate qubit that is directly controllable, which represents a typical
situation in quantum information processing. We find the time-optimal unitary
evolution law and quantify residual entanglement by the two-tangle between the
indirectly coupled qubits, for all possible sets of initial pure quantum states
of a tripartite system. The integrals of the motion of the brachistochrone are
determined by fixing the minimal time at which the residual entanglement is
maximized. Entan- glement plays a role for W and GHZ initial quantum states,
and for the bi-separable initial state in which the indirectly coupled qubits
have a nonzero value of the 2-tangle.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure
The physics of water and wax in the pores of a working Gas-to-Liquids catalyst
The so-called Fischer-Tropsch catalysis allows to convert natural gas into liquid products and is the underlying mechanism of commercially used "Gas-to-Liquids" plants. The actual reaction takes place in millimetre sized porous pellets in which active metallic particles are dispersed as catalysts. Due to the reaction the pores of the pellets will become filled with the reaction products ("wax" and water), but it is uncertain if the fluid in the pores can be understood as a single liquid phase, a liquid-gas mixture, or multiple continuous phases. The answer to this question is important for a thorough understanding of the transport processes inside the reactor and can be utilized to improve its eciency. In this project, a theoretical analysis of the behaviour inside the pores is performed. It is concluded that a liquid water phase might well exist next to the wax phase. However, the analysis is based on very limited experimental data of unknown quality. Therefore, we propose a number of possible experiments to validate the theoretical concepts
Quantum integrability of the Alday-Arutyunov-Frolov model
We investigate the quantum integrability of the Alday-Arutyunov-Frolov (AAF)
model by calculating the three-particle scattering amplitude at the first
non-trivial order and showing that the S-matrix is factorizable at this order.
We consider a more general fermionic model and find a necessary constraint to
ensure its integrability at quantum level. We then show that the quantum
integrability of the AAF model follows from this constraint. In the process, we
also correct some missed points in earlier works.Comment: 40 pages; Replaced with published version. Appendix and comments

Review of AdS/CFT Integrability, Chapter IV.3: N=6 Chern-Simons and Strings on AdS4xCP3
We review the duality and integrability of N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons
theory in three dimensions and IIA superstring theory on the background
AdS4xCP3. We introduce both of these models and describe how their degrees of
freedom are mapped to excitations of a long-range integrable spin-chain.
Finally, we discuss the properties of the Bethe equations, the S-matrix and the
algebraic curve that are special to this correspondence and differ from the
case of N=4 SYM theory and strings on AdS5xS5.Comment: 22 pages, see also overview article arXiv:1012.3982, v2: references

On the worldsheet theory of the type IIA AdS(4) x CP(3) superstring
We perform a detailed study of the type IIA superstring in AdS(4) x CP(3).
After introducing suitable bosonic light-cone and fermionic kappa worldsheet
gauges we derive the pure boson and fermion SU(2|2) x U(1) covariant light-cone
Hamiltonian up to quartic order in fields.
As a first application of our derivation we calculate energy shifts for
string configurations in a closed fermionic subsector and successfully match
these with a set of light-cone Bethe equations. We then turn to investigate the
mismatch between the degrees of freedom of scattering states and oscillatory
string modes. Since only light string modes appear as fundamental Bethe roots
in the scattering theory, the physical role of the remaining massive
oscillators is rather unclear. By continuing a line of research initiated by
Zarembo, we shed light on this question by calculating quantum corrections for
the propagators of the bosonic massive fields. We show that, once loop
corrections are incorporated, the massive coordinates dissolve in a continuum
state of two light particles.Comment: 40 pages, 2 figures. v3: Minor clarifications made and reference list

Fermionic reductions of the AdS4×CP3 uperstring
We discuss fermionic reductions of type IIA superstrings on AdS4×CP3 in relation to the conjectured AdS4/CFT3 duality. The superstring theory is described by means of a coset model construction, which is classically integrable. We discuss the global light-cone symmetries of the action and related κ-symmetry gauge choices, and also present the complete quartic action in covariant form with respect to these. Further, we study integrable (fermionic) reductions, in particular, a reduction yielding a quadratic action of two complex fermions on the string world-sheet. Interestingly, this model appears to be exactly the same as the corresponding integrable reduction found in the AdS5×S5 case
