B->rho pi decays, resonant and nonresonant contributions

We point out that a new contribution to B decays to three pions is relevant in explaining recent data from the CLEO and BABAR collaborations, in particular the results on quasi-two-body decays via a rho meson. We also discuss the relevance of these contribution to the measurement of CP violations.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, few references and minor comments adde

Model Independent Framework for Searches of Top Partners

We propose a model-independent and general framework to study the LHC phenomenology of top partners, i.e. Vector-Like quarks including particles with different electro-magnetic charge. We consider Vector-Like quarks embedded in general representations of the weak SU(2)L, coupling to all Standard Model quarks via Yukawa mixing focusing on the case of a single multiplet. We show that, with very minimal and quite general assumptions, top partners may be studied in terms of few parameters in an effective Lagrangian description with a clear and simple connection with experimental observables. We also demonstrate that the parametrisation can be applied as well to cases with many Vector-like multiplets, thus covering most realistic models of New Physics. We perform a numerical study to understand the conclusions which can be drawn within such a description and the expected potential for discovery or exclusion at the LHC. Our main results are a clear connection between branching ratios and single production channels, and the identification of novel interesting channels to be studied at the LHC.Comment: 42 pages, 2 figures, 20 tables, added an appendix with a discussion of coupling chirality in general scenarios; added a comparison of collider and flavour bounds; added details about the range of validity of the framework. The exclusive B_s -> phi mu+ mu- process in a constituent quark model

We consider the exclusive B_s -> phi mu+ mu- process in the standard model using a constituent quark loop model approach together with a simple parameterization of the quark dynamics. The model allows to compute the decay form factors and therefore can give predictions for the decay rates, the invariant mass spectra and the asymmetries. This process is suppressed in the standard model but can be enhanced if new physics beyond the standard model is present, such as flavor-violating supersymmetric models. It constitutes therefore an interesting precision test of the standard model at forthcoming experiments.Comment: 17 pages, 6 figures, 5 tables, LaTeX; minor changes to the introduction, table III and figure 3. Search for Scalar Leptoquarks with polarized protons (and neutrons) at HERA and future ep(n)ep(n) Machines

The effects of Scalar Leptoquarks in various channels have been analysed for the HERA collider and also for an eventual new epep machine running at higher energies. We emphasize the relevance of polarized beams.Comment: Latex file, 3 pages and 3 ps fig. Need style files : twoside,fleqn,espcrc2,epsfig. Quantum corrections to the effective neutrino mass operator in 5D MSSM

We discuss in detail a five-dimensional Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model compactified on S1/Z2S^1/Z_2 extended by the effective Majorana neutrino mass operator. We study the evolution of neutrino masses and mixings. Masses and angles, in particular the atmospheric mixing angle Ξ23\theta_{23}, can be significantly lowered at high energies with respect to their value at low energy.Comment: 23 pages, 13 figure

Study on Decays of DsJ∗(2317)D_{sJ}^{*}(2317) and DsJ(2460)D_{sJ}(2460) in terms of the CQM Model

Based on the assumption that DsJ∗(2317)D_{sJ}^{*}(2317) and DsJ(2460)D_{sJ}(2460) are the (0+,1+)(0^+, 1^+) chiral partners of DsD_{s} and Ds∗D^*_s, we evaluate the strong pionic and radiative decays of DsJ∗(2317)D_{sJ}^{*}(2317) and DsJ(2460)D_{sJ}(2460) in the Constituent Quark Meson (CQM) model. Our numerical results of the relative ratios of the decay widths are reasonably consistent with data.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures, 4 tables, a few references adde

The semileptonic B->pi decay in a Constituent Quark-Meson model

We evaluate the form factors describing the exclusive decay B-> pi l nu by using a Constituent Quark-Meson model based on an effective quark-meson Lagrangian (CQM). The model allows for an expansion in the pion momenta and we consider terms up to the first order in the pion field derivatives. We compute the leading terms in the soft pion limit and consider corrections to this limit.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, LaTeX (uses aps, epsf, revtex), formula 26 corrected, discussion enlarged, references updated and other minor change

On the Determination of a1a_1 and a2a_2 from Hadronic Two Body BB Decays

{}From Class I decays : B^o \ra \pi^+ ( \rho^+ ) + D^- ( {D^*}^- ), we determine a1a_1, and from Class III decays : B^+ \ra \pi^+ ( \rho^+ ) + \ol{D}^o ( {\ol{D}^*}^o ), we determine an allowed domain in the (a1,a2)( a_1, a_2 ) plane. We find that within one standard deviation errors, the allowed band of a1a_1 from Class I decays is at least three standard deviations removed from the allowed domain (a1,a2)( a_1, a_2 ) from Class III decays. If we expand the experimental errors to two standard deviations we do find a small intersection between the a1a_1 band and the allowed (a1,a2)( a_1, a_2 ) domain. The results usually quoted in the literature lie in this intersection. We suggest : (1) an independent measurement of the branching ratio for the Class III decay, B^+ \ra \rho^+ \ol{D}^o , (2) a high-statistics measurement of the branching ratio of the Class I decay, B \ra \ol{D} ( \ol{D}^* ) + D_s ( D_s^* ) in both charged states, and (3) a measurement of the longitudinal polarization fraction in the Class III decay B^+ \ra \rho^+ {\ol{D}^*}^o to shed more light on the questions involved .Comment: 9pages(Latex)+4 figures(PS file appended), PAR/LPTHE/94-2

Framework for Model Independent Analyses of Multiple Extra Quark Scenarios

    Get PDF
In this paper we present an analysis strategy and a dedicated tool to determine the exclusion confidence level for any scenario involving multiple heavy extra quarks with generic decay channels, as predicted in several extensions of the Standard Model. We have created, validated and used a software package, called XQCAT (eXtra Quark Combined Analysis Tool), which is based on publicly available experimental data from direct searches for top partners and from Supersymmetry inspired searches. By means of this code, we recast the limits from CMS on new heavy extra quarks considering a complete set of decay channels. The resulting exclusion confidence levels are presented for some simple scenarios with multiple states and general coupling assumptions. Highlighting the importance of combining multiple topology searches to obtain accurate re-interpretations of the existing searches, we discuss the reach of the SUSY analyses so as to set bounds on new quark resonances. In particular, we report on the re-interpretation of the existing limits on benchmark scenarios with one and multiple pair-produced top partners having non-exclusive couplings to the third Standard Model generation of quarks.Comment: 31 pages, 6 figures, 3 tables, version accepted for publication in JHE

Sifting composite from elementary models at FCCee and CePC

New Physics models with either an elementary or composite origin are often associated with a similar imprint in a direct search at colliders, case in point being the production of a light pseudoscalar in association with a monochromatic photon from the decay of a Z boson at future e+e−e+e- colliders. We exploit the correlation between the discovery of a signal in the Z decays and electroweak precision measurements as a tool to distinguish a composite model from an elementary scalar one. Our results offer an appealing and rich physics case for future colliders and demonstrate how a lepton collider at the Z mass can be a discovery machine for new physics in the Higgs sector.Comment: 7 Pages, 2 Figure
