    Utilización de los diagramas de Minkowski para la enseñanza de la Teoría Especial de la Relatividad en la escuela secundaria

    En este trabajo se presentan los resultados de la implementación de una etapa de una Secuencia de Enseñanza y Aprendizaje diseñada para abordar la Teoría Especial de la Relatividad en la escuela secundaria superior, en Argentina. Se adopta el modelo de Enseñanza para la Comprensión dentro de un marco teórico más amplio que promueve un aprendizaje significativo de la Teoría Especial de la Relatividad.El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar si la utilización de los diagramas de Minkowski, para establecer la simultaneidad de eventos en la Teoría Especial de la Relatividad, es una herramienta apropiada para la escuela secundaria.La metodología empleada en la investigación es cualitativa de tipo descriptiva. La implementación se realizó en dos cursos de secundaria superior de una escuela pública dependiente de la Universidad Nacional del Centro, conformados por 65 alumnos. Los resultados obtenidos evidencian rasgos de aprendizaje significativo de la Teoría Especial de la Relatividad, por parte de los alumnos.In this paper the results of the implementation of a step in a Teaching - Learning sequence designed to approach the Special Relativity Theory in high school in Argentina are presented. The purpose of this research is to analyze whether the use of Minkowski diagrams to establish the simultaneity of events in the Special Relativity Theory is an appropriate tool for high school. The methodology used in this research is qualitative and descriptive. The implementation was done in two courses of a public high school that is dependent of the Universidad Nacional del Centro (Argentina), with 65 students.     Current CONtrolled Transmit And Receive Coil Elements (C2ONTAR) for Parallel Acquisition and Parallel Excitation Techniques at High-Field MRI

    A novel intrinsically decoupled transmit and receive radio-frequency coil element is presented for applications in parallel imaging and parallel excitation techniques in high-field magnetic resonance imaging. Decoupling is achieved by a twofold strategy: during transmission elements are driven by current sources, while during signal reception resonant elements are switched to a high input impedance preamplifier. To avoid B0 distortions by magnetic impurities or DC currents a resonant transmission line is used to relocate electronic components from the vicinity of the imaged object. The performance of a four-element array for 3 T magnetic resonance tomograph is analyzed by means of simulation, measurements of electromagnetic fields and bench experiments. The feasibility of parallel acquisition and parallel excitation is demonstrated and compared to that of a conventional power source-driven array of equivalent geometry. Due to their intrinsic decoupling the current-controlled elements are ideal basic building blocks for multi-element transmit and receive arrays of flexible geometry

    Cross‐presentation of dead‐cell‐associated antigens by DNGR‐1⁺ dendritic cells contributes to chronic allograft rejection in mice

    The purpose of this study was to elucidate whether DC NK lectin group receptor-1 (DNGR-1)-dependent cross-presentation of dead-cell-associated antigens occurs after transplantation and contributes to CD8(+)T cell responses, chronic allograft rejection (CAR), and fibrosis. BALB/c or C57BL/6 hearts were heterotopically transplanted into WT, Clec9a(-/-), or Batf3(-/-)recipient C57BL/6 mice. Allografts were analyzed for cell infiltration, CD8(+)T cell activation, fibrogenesis, and CAR using immunohistochemistry, Western blot, qRT(2)-PCR, and flow cytometry. Allografts displayed infiltration by recipient DNGR-1(+)DCs, signs of CAR, and fibrosis. Allografts in Clec9a(-/-)recipients showed reduced CAR (p < 0.0001), fibrosis (P= 0.0137), CD8(+)cell infiltration (P < 0.0001), and effector cytokine levels compared to WT recipients. Batf3-deficiency greatly reduced DNGR-1(+)DC-infiltration, CAR (P < 0.0001), and fibrosis (P= 0.0382). CD8 cells infiltrating allografts of cytochrome C treated recipients, showed reduced production of CD8 effector cytokines (P < 0.05). Further, alloreactive CD8(+)T cell response in indirect pathway IFN-gamma ELISPOT was reduced in Clec9a(-/-)recipient mice (P= 0.0283). Blockade of DNGR-1 by antibody, similar to genetic elimination of the receptor, reduced CAR (P= 0.0003), fibrosis (P= 0.0273), infiltration of CD8(+)cells (p= 0.0006), and effector cytokine levels. DNGR-1-dependent alloantigen cross-presentation by DNGR-1(+)DCs induces alloreactive CD8(+)cells that induce CAR and fibrosis. Antibody against DNGR-1 can block this process and prevent CAR and fibrosis

    Anchored enrichment dataset for true flies (order Diptera) reveals insights into the phylogeny of flower flies (family Syrphidae)

    Background: Anchored hybrid enrichment is a form of next-generation sequencing that uses oligonucleotide probes to target conserved regions of the genome flanked by less conserved regions in order to acquire data useful for phylogenetic inference from a broad range of taxa. Once a probe kit is developed, anchored hybrid enrichment is superior to traditional PCR-based Sanger sequencing in terms of both the amount of genomic data that can be recovered and effective cost. Due to their incredibly diverse nature, importance as pollinators, and historical instability with regard to subfamilial and tribal classification, Syrphidae (flower flies or hoverflies) are an ideal candidate for anchored hybrid enrichment-based phylogenetics, especially since recent molecular phylogenies of the syrphids using only a few markers have resulted in highly unresolved topologies. Over 6200 syrphids are currently known and uncovering their phylogeny will help us to understand how these species have diversified, providing insight into an array of ecological processes, from the development of adult mimicry, the origin of adult migration, to pollination patterns and the evolution of larval resource utilization. Results: We present the first use of anchored hybrid enrichment in insect phylogenetics on a dataset containing 30 flower fly species from across all four subfamilies and 11 tribes out of 15. To produce a phylogenetic hypothesis, 559 loci were sampled to produce a final dataset containing 217,702 sites. We recovered a well resolved topology with bootstrap support values that were almost universally >95 %. The subfamily Eristalinae is recovered as paraphyletic, with the strongest support for this hypothesis to date. The ant predators in the Microdontinae are sister to all other syrphids. Syrphinae and Pipizinae are monophyletic and sister to each other. Larval predation on soft-bodied hemipterans evolved only once in this family. Conclusions: Anchored hybrid enrichment was successful in producing a robustly supported phylogenetic hypothesis for the syrphids. Subfamilial reconstruction is concordant with recent phylogenetic hypotheses, but with much higher support values. With the newly designed probe kit this analysis could be rapidly expanded with further sampling, opening the door to more comprehensive analyses targeting problem areas in syrphid phylogenetics and ecology.Peer reviewe

    The Chalcidoidea bush of life: evolutionary history of a massive radiation of minute wasps.

    Chalcidoidea are mostly parasitoid wasps that include as many as 500 000 estimated species. Capturing phylogenetic signal from such a massive radiation can be daunting. Chalcidoidea is an excellent example of a hyperdiverse group that has remained recalcitrant to phylogenetic resolution. We combined 1007 exons obtained with Anchored Hybrid Enrichment with 1048 ultra-conserved elements (UCEs) for 433 taxa including all extant families, >95% of all subfamilies, and 356 genera chosen to represent the vast diversity of the superfamily. Going back and forth between the molecular results and our collective knowledge of morphology and biology, we detected bias in the analyses that was driven by the saturation of nucleotide data. Our final results are based on a concatenated analysis of the least saturated exons and UCE datasets (2054 loci, 284 106 sites). Our analyses support an expected sister relationship with Mymarommatoidea. Seven previously recognized families were not monophyletic, so support for a new classification is discussed. Natural history in some cases would appear to be more informative than morphology, as illustrated by the elucidation of a clade of plant gall associates and a clade of taxa with planidial first-instar larvae. The phylogeny suggests a transition from smaller soft-bodied wasps to larger and more heavily sclerotized wasps, with egg parasitism as potentially ancestral for the entire superfamily. Deep divergences in Chalcidoidea coincide with an increase in insect families in the fossil record, and an early shift to phytophagy corresponds with the beginning of the "Angiosperm Terrestrial Revolution". Our dating analyses suggest a middle Jurassic origin of 174 Ma (167.3-180.5 Ma) and a crown age of 162.2 Ma (153.9-169.8 Ma) for Chalcidoidea. During the Cretaceous, Chalcidoidea may have undergone a rapid radiation in southern Gondwana with subsequent dispersals to the Northern Hemisphere. This scenario is discussed with regard to knowledge about the host taxa of chalcid wasps, their fossil record and Earth's palaeogeographic history
