Wpływ aplikacji osadów ściekowych do gleby na akumulację Cd, Pb I Zn w lnie zwyczajnym (Linum usitatissimum L.)
Sewage sludge is the product of the process of wastewater treatment. Sludge may be considered hazardous waste requiring costly disposal procedures, or may be perceived as a source of nutrients for use on agricultural land. Experiments were carried out in simulated natural conditions in pots set in the land to a depth of 50 cm with variations of graded mixture of natural sediments and soils. Sewage sludge sedimentation was added into the weighed quantity of soil in the proportions: sludge - soil = 1:2 (var. K1), 1:3 (var. K2), 1:4 (var. K3), 1:5 (var. K4), 1:6 (var. K5). Control variant (K0) without the presence of sewage sludge has also been sown with all varieties. Studied crop were the varieties of flax and linseed. Flax and linseed varieties variously accumulated particular metallic elements, the highest concentrations were recorded for Zn, followed by the Pb and Cd. The lowest concentrations of Cd and Pb were analyzed in the seed (0.121 mg·kg–1) and the highest concentrations of Cd and Pb were detected in the stem (Cd = 0.396 mg·kg–1) and capsules (Pb = 1.881 mg·kg–1). The highest concentration of Zn was found in the capsule (115.015 mg·kg–1) and lowest in the root (33.782 mg·kg–1). Trend of accumulation of Cd was: stem>capsule>root>seed, Pb: capsule>stem>root>seed, Zn: capsule >seed>root>stem. The results of studied experiments show that the particular varieties of fiber and linseed have different variability in the ability to draw heavy metals from the soil and consequently different phytoremediation potential. Osady ściekowe dodano do odważonej ilość gleby w proporcjach: osady - gleba = 1:2 (var. K1), 1:3 (var. K2), 1:4 (var. K3), 1:5 ( var. K4), 1:6 (var. K5). Wariant kontrolny (K0) bez obecności osadów ściekowych również obsiano wszystkimi odmianami. Badano odmiany lnu włóknistego i lnu oleistego. Odmiany lnu włóknistego i oleistego różnie zakumulowały zwłaszcza metale, najwyższe stężenia zanotowano dla Zn, a następnie Pb i Cd. Najniższe stężenia Cd i Pb były analizowane w materiale siewnym (0,121 mg·kg–1) a najwyższe stężenia Cd i Pb stwierdzono w łodydze (Cd = 0,396 mg·kg–1) i kapsułkach nasiennych (Pb = 1,881 mg·kg–1). Najwyższe stężenie Zn stwierdzono w kapsułkach nasiennych (115,015 mg·kg–1), a najniższe w korzeniach (33,782 mg·kg–1). Trend akumulacji Cd: łodyga > kapsułka nasienna > korzeń > nasiona, Pb: kapsułka nasienna > łodyga > korzeń > nasiona, Zn: kapsułka nasienna > nasiona > korzeń > łodyga. Wyniki badań i eksperymentów pokazują, że poszczególne odmiany lnu włóknistego i lnu oleistego wykazują zmienność umiejętności akumulacji metali ciężkich z gleby, a tym samym różne potencjały fitoremediacji
Wpływ materii organicznej i pH na mobilność niektórych metali ciężkich w glebach trwałych użytków zielonych na Pogórzu
In 2008 and 2009 total content of some heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Co, Pb, Cd and Mo) and their water-soluble forms were explored in soils of permanent grasslands of the foothills of the Hruby Jesenik Mts. Relationship between soil reaction and content and quality of organic matter was studied. The total content of heavy metals ranged from 38.40 to 71.65 mg Zn kg–1; 10.47–17.46 mg Co kg–1; 14.30–41.42 mg Cu kg–1; 3.84–15.53 mg Pb kg–1; 0.104–0.323 mg Cd kg–1 and 0.129–0.617 mg Mo kg–1. Content of water-soluble forms ranged from 0.0016 to 1.0100 mg Zn kg–1; 0.0204–0.2605 mg Co kg–1; 0.0085–0.2413 mg Cu kg–1, and 0.0108–0.0485 mg Cd kg–1 of soil. Soil reaction ranged from 4.09 to 5.43 (ie from extremely acid to acid). Results showed that decreasing of pH value caused significant increase of water-soluble fractions of zinc and cobalt content, especially when mineral and organic fertilisers (slurry) were applied. After compost application the inverse relationship water-soluble zinc content and pH was found. Interrelations were not statistically significant in this case. On permanent grassland soils total organic carbon (TOC) content ranged from 0.60 to 2.55 %. Sum of humic substances (HS) ranged from 4.5 to 8.0 mg kg–1; with a 1.5–3.3 mg kg–1 and 2.5–5.5 mg kg–1 proportion of humic acids (HA) and fulvic acids (FA), respectively. Humification degree was low (< 20 %). After organic and mineral fertilizers application on permanent grassland soils statistically significant differences were discovered in TOC and HA (compost) content (between the individual rates of organic fertilisers). Because of FA prevailed in humus fractional composition they mostly contributed to the transformation and migration of heavy metals mobile forms. During the experiment with mineral and organic fertilisers the dependence of water-soluble heavy metals and organic matter content was statistically significant for cobalt and copper. Cobalt content was inversely proportionate to HA content (r = –0.4021). In a similar way the copper content decreased due to increasing of FA in soils (r = –0.3803).W latach 2008-2009 oceniano ogólnÄ… zawartość niektórych metali ciężkich (Zn, Cu, Co, Pb, Cd i Mo) oraz ich form wodnorozpuszczalnych w glebach trwaÅ‚ych użytków zielonych Pogórza Hrubý JesenÃk. Badano zależnoÅ›ci miÄ™dzy odczynem gleb i zawartoÅ›ciÄ… oraz jakoÅ›ciÄ… materii organicznej. Ogólna zawartość metali ciężkich mieÅ›ciÅ‚a siÄ™ w zakresach: 38,40-71,65 mg Zn kg-1; 10,47-17,46 mg Co kg-1; 14,30-41,42 mg Cu kg-1; 3,84-15,53 mg Pb kg-1; 0,104-0,323 mg Cd kg-1 i 0,129-0,617 mg Mo kg-1 gleby. Zawartość form wodnorozpuszczalnych wahaÅ‚a siÄ™ w granicach: 0,0016 to 1,0100 mg Zn kg-1; 0,0204-0,2605 mg Co kg-1; 0,0085-0,2413 mg Cu kg-1 i 0,0108-0,0485 mg Cd kg-1 gleby. pH gleb wahaÅ‚o siÄ™ od 4,09 do 5,43 (tj. odczyn od bardzo kwaÅ›nego do kwaÅ›nego). Wykazano, że obniżenie wartoÅ›ci pH powodowaÅ‚o istotny wzrost zawartoÅ›ci frakcji wodnorozpuszczalnych cynku i kobaltu, zwÅ‚aszcza gdy zastosowano nawozy mineralne i organiczne (gnojowicÄ™). Po zastosowaniu kompostu stwierdzono odwrotnÄ… zależność miÄ™dzy zawartoÅ›ciÄ… frakcji wodnorozpuszczalnego cynku i pH. ZależnoÅ›ci te nie byÅ‚y istotne statystycznie. CaÅ‚kowita zawartość wÄ™gla organicznego (TOC) w glebach trwaÅ‚ych użytków zielonych wahaÅ‚a siÄ™ od 6,0 do 25,5 g kg-1. Suma substancji humusowych (HS) wahaÅ‚a siÄ™ od 4,5 do 8,0 mg kg-1; z udziaÅ‚em odpowiednio 1,5-3,3 mg kg-1 kwasów huminowych (HA) i 2,5-5,5 mg kg-1 kwasów fulwowych (FA). StopieÅ„ humifikacji byÅ‚ niski (< 20%). Po zastosowaniu nawozów organicznych i mineralnych na glebach trwaÅ‚ych użytkach zielonych wykazano statystycznie istotne różnice w zawartoÅ›ci TOC i HA (kompost) (miÄ™dzy poszczególnymi dawkami nawozów organicznych). Ponieważ FA przeważajÄ… w skÅ‚adzie frakcyjnym próchnicy, najczęściej one biorÄ… udziaÅ‚ w przemianach i przemieszczaniu siÄ™ mobilnych form metali ciężkich. W trakcie doÅ›wiadczenia z nawozami mineralnymi i organicznymi zależność miÄ™dzy zawartoÅ›ciÄ… frakcji wodnorozpuszczalnych metali ciężkich i materii organicznej byÅ‚a statystycznie istotna dla kobaltu i miedzi. Zawartość kobaltu byÅ‚a odwrotnie proporcjonalna do zawartoÅ›ci HA (r = -0,4021). Podobnie zawartość miedzi obniżaÅ‚a siÄ™ wraz ze zwiÄ™kszajÄ…cÄ… siÄ™ zawartoÅ›ciÄ… FA w glebach (r = -0,3803)
Fiber Quality of Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) Grown in Soil Irrigated by Landfill Leachate Water
Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) for industrial use is often considered as a renewable resource for cultivation in polluted areas, on one hand, for the purpose of possible remediation of soil and, on the other hand, for wide options of the possible use of plant material after the harvest in such areas, namely hemp fiber. This study summarizes the effects of landfill leachate irrigation on agronomic parameters and fiber properties in two cultivars of hemp has grown and harvested in two consecutive seasons. Cultivar Bialobrzeskie shows more promising results in terms of total fiber content and phloem fiber content, while it tends to sacrifice the density of both xylem and phloem fiber in comparison to cultivar Monoica. The two cultivars also demonstrate different sensitivity and responses to the presence of heavy metals, namely zinc and chromium
Biobased \u2018Mid-performance\u2019 composites using losses from the hackling process of long hemp \u2013 A feasibility study as part of the development of a biorefinery concept \u2013
The Multihemp biorefinery concept combines processing systems that, starting from harvesting, transform hemp biomass into a spectrum of marketable intermediate and final products. Hackling loss sorted out during production of long hemp was used for the compounding process to produce hemp fibre-reinforced Polylactide (PLA) granules for the injection moulding process. Even though only side stream fibres were used, the overall mechanical properties lie within the range of properties reported for PLA \u2013 bast fibre composites cited in the literature or even above. The use of hemp from an earlier harvest at full flowering (harvest 1) significantly increases Young's modulus values compared to the pure PLA polymer and shows a slightly better reinforcing potential than hemp harvested later at seed maturity (harvest 2). A significant influence of harvest time on the composite properties was found, which is stronger than the variety influence. Based on the presented results, the poly-product MultiHemp system showed a proof of concept for the use of hackling loss for injection moulded composites
