Multiblend JET A-1 in practice: results of an R&D project on synthetic paraffinic kerosenes
The research and demonstration project, DEMO-SPK, a model project under the German Mobility and Fuel Strategy (MFS), investigated the use of renewable kerosene at the Leipzig/Halle airport. Its primary goal was to examine and verify the behavior of blends consisting of several types of renewable kerosene and fossil JET A-1, under the realistic supply conditions of a major airport. The project demonstrated that the supply chain for multiblend JET A-1 was technically feasible and that the fuel could be used without requiring any changes in the normal operating procedures. The project also confirmed that the use of multiblend JET A-1 resulted in a 30â60% reduction in particulate emissions for ground operations and a reduction in CO2 equivalents, compared with pure fossil JET A-1.The R&D project on the use of renewable kerosene at Leipzig/Halle airport (DEMO-SPK) involved the collaboration of more than 20 international partners from industry and science. It was initiated as a model project of the Mobility and Fuel Strategy (MFS) and financed by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI)

Effects of percutaneous coronary intervention on dyspnea in stable coronary artery disease
Background
Dyspnea is a frequent symptom in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) and is recognized as a possible angina equivalent.
Objectives
This study was to assess the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on dyspnea, quality of life, and angina pectoris in patients with stable CAD.
Methods
The prospective, multi-center PLA-pCi-EBO-pilot trial included 144 patients with symptomatic stable CAD and successful PCI. The prespecified endpoints angina pectoris (Seattle Angina QuestionnaireâSAQ) and dyspnea (NYHA scale) were assessed 6 months after PCI. Predictors for symptomatic improvement were assessed with uni- and multivariable logistic regression analyses.
Results
Patients with concomitant dyspnea had worse SAQ physical limitation scores at baseline (49.5â±â21.0 vs 58.9â±â22.0, pâ=â0.013) but showed no difference for angina frequency or quality of life. Overall, symptomatic burden of angina pectoris and dyspnea was alleviated by PCI. However, patients with concomitant dyspnea had markedly worse scores for physical limitation (78.9â±â25.0 vs 94.3â±â10.6, pâ<â0.001), angina frequency (77.9â±â22.8 vs 91.1â±â12.4, pâ<â0.001), and quality of life (69.4â±â24.1 vs 82.5â±â14.4, pâ<â0.001) after PCI. The prevalence of dyspnea (NYHA classââ„â2) declined from 73% before PCI to 54%. Of 95 initially dyspneic patients, 57 (60%) improved at least one NYHA class 6 months after PCI. In a multivariable logistic regression analysis, âatypical angina pectorisâ was associated with improved NYHA class, whereas âdiabetes mellitusâ had a negative association.
Conclusion
PCI effectively reduced dyspnea, which is a frequent and demanding symptom in patients with CAD. The German Clinical Trials Register registration number is DRKS0001752 (www.drks.de)
