Проблеми перекладу німецьких фразеологічних одиниць з анімальним компонентом українською мовою (Problems of translation of the German phraseologikal units with animal components into Ukrainian)

У статті аналізуються останні дослідження в галузі фразеології, розглядається класифікація ФО з АК за ступенем семантичної злитності компонентів, пропонується поділ анімалізмів на групи, вивчається можливість фразеологічного та нефразеологічного перекладу ФО з АК з німецької мови українською, а також застосування таких лексичних перекладацьких трансформацій як антонімічний переклад, конкретизація та генералізація. (The article analyses the latest researches in the sphere of phraseology. Сlassification of PU with AC according to the degree of components’ semantic continuity is regarded, division of animalisms into groups is proposed, possibility of phraseological and non-phraseological translation of PU with AC from German into Ukrainian as well as use of lexical translation transformations, namely, antonymic translation, concretization and generalization are studied.

Особливості функціонування німецьких військових термінів та їх переклад українською мовою

У статті розглядаються стилістичні особливості військово-технічного тексту, вплив структурних особливостей мови на процес та спосіб перекладу. Автори визначають роль та місце мовних трансформацій та буквального перекладу як проміжної ланки перекладацького процесу з метою досягнення найбільш коректної передачі інформації. Особливе місце в дослідженні відводиться багатокомпонентним термінам в німецькій мові та особливостям їхнього перекладу. (The article considers the stylistic features of military-technical text and the impact of structural features of language on the process and method of translation. The authors describe the role and place of linguistic transformations and literal translation as medium of translation process in order to achieve more correct information transfer. A special place in the study is given to multi-component terms in German language and its translation features.

AIGO: towards a unified framework for the analysis and the inter-comparison of GO functional annotations

BACKGROUND: In response to the rapid growth of available genome sequences, efforts have been made to develop automatic inference methods to functionally characterize them. Pipelines that infer functional annotation are now routinely used to produce new annotations at a genome scale and for a broad variety of species. These pipelines differ widely in their inference algorithms, confidence thresholds and data sources for reasoning. This heterogeneity makes a comparison of the relative merits of each approach extremely complex. The evaluation of the quality of the resultant annotations is also challenging given there is often no existing gold-standard against which to evaluate precision and recall. RESULTS: In this paper, we present a pragmatic approach to the study of functional annotations. An ensemble of 12 metrics, describing various aspects of functional annotations, is defined and implemented in a unified framework, which facilitates their systematic analysis and inter-comparison. The use of this framework is demonstrated on three illustrative examples: analysing the outputs of state-of-the-art inference pipelines, comparing electronic versus manual annotation methods, and monitoring the evolution of publicly available functional annotations. The framework is part of the AIGO library (http://code.google.com/p/aigo) for the Analysis and the Inter-comparison of the products of Gene Ontology (GO) annotation pipelines. The AIGO library also provides functionalities to easily load, analyse, manipulate and compare functional annotations and also to plot and export the results of the analysis in various formats. CONCLUSIONS: This work is a step toward developing a unified framework for the systematic study of GO functional annotations. This framework has been designed so that new metrics on GO functional annotations can be added in a very straightforward way

Designing double-gap linear accelerators for a wide mass range

For applications like ion implantation, rf linacs using double-gap structures with external resonators can be used because they are practical at low frequencies. However, since the two gaps associated with a given resonator cannot be individually phased, it is not obvious how to build a linac that can efficiently accelerate particles having different mass/charge ratios. This paper describes the beam dynamics of double-gap rf linacs and shows how to maximize the range of mass/charge ratios. The theory also tells one how to rescale a linac tune (i.e., reset the voltages and phases) so that a new particle, having a different mass or charge, will behave similarly to the original particle

KW-Sun: The Konus-Wind Solar Flare Database in Hard X-ray and Soft Gamma-ray Ranges

We present a database of solar flares registered by the Konus-Wind instrument during more than 27 years of operation, from 1994 November to now (2022 June). The constantly updated database (hereafter KW-Sun) contains over 1000 events detected in the instrument's triggered mode and is accessible online at http://www.ioffe.ru/LEA/kwsun/. For each flare, the database provides time-resolved energy spectra in energy range from ~20 keV to ~15 MeV in FITS format along with count rate light curves in three wide energy bands G1 (~20-80 keV), G2 (~80-300 keV), and G3 (~300-1200 keV) with high time resolution (down to 16 ms) in ASCII and IDL SAV formats. This article focuses on the instrument capabilities in the context of solar observations, the structure of the KW-Sun data and their intended usage. The presented homogeneous data set obtained in the broad energy range with high temporal resolution during more than two full solar cycles is beneficial for both statistical and case studies as well as a source of context data for solar flare research.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, 1 table. Grundlagen des Übersetzens: eine Brücke zwischen Theorie und Praxis (deutsch-ukrainische Richtung)

Das Lehrbuch ist für die Studierenden der sprachwissenschaftlichen Studienrichtungen an den Hochschulen geeignet. Darin sind die wichtigsten Grundlagen der allgemeinen und speziellen Translationstheorien vorgestellt, um theoretisches Wissen zu systematisieren und es anschließend in die Praxis umzusetzen. Das Lehrbuch ist auf die Analyse des sprachlichen Materials in Einzelfällen des Fachübersetzens sowie auf die erfolgreiche Anwendung von Methoden, Typen, Verfahren und Techniken des Übersetzens von textsortenspezifischen Texten unter den realitätsnachahmenden Bedingungen der übersetzerischen Tätigkeit gezielt. Jeder der beiden Kapitel des Lehrbuches ist einem Einzelbereich der Translationswissenschaft gewidmet. Das erste Kapitel beruht auf den theoretischen Grundlagen der allgemeinen Translationstheorie, gefolgt von den übersetzerischen Grundbegriffen über die spezifischen Übersetzungsschwierigkeiten bis zum Algorithmus der übersetzerischen Handlung. Das zweite Kapitel stellt lexikalisch-grammatische und semantische Schwierigkeiten des Fachübersetzens dar, mit denen sich die Übersetzer in ihrer beruflichen Tätigkeit auseinandersetzen, und zwar: Komposita- und Binominaübersetzen, Artikel-, Modalitäts-, Eigennamen- und Realienwiedergabe sowie Phraseologismenübersetzen. Jede strukturelle Einheit des Lehrbuches wird von einer Liste der Fragen zur Selbstkontrolle und von praktischen Aufgaben begleitet, um das beherrschte Thema zu festigen. Im Lehrbuch sind aktuelle deutschsprachige Texte aus den anerkannten Quellen und ihre offiziellen Übersetzungen ins Ukrainische sowie gleichberechtigte und parallele Texte benutzt.Підручник призначений для студентів мовних спеціальностей закладів вищої освіти. У ньому представлені основні положення загальної і спеціальної теорій перекладу з метою систематизації теоретичних знань та їхньої подальшої реалізації на практиці. Підручник націлений на аналіз мовного матеріалу в окремих випадках перекладу фахових текстів, а також на вдале застосування стратегій, способів, прийомів і технік перекладу різножанрових текстів за умов, максимально наближених до перекладацької діяльності. Кожен із двох розділів підручника присвячений окремій галузі перекладознавства. У першому розділі зосереджено увагу на теоретичних засадах загальної теорії перекладу від основних перекладацьких понять і труднощів до алгоритму здійснення перекладу. Другий розділ презентує лексико-граматичні і семантичні труднощі фахового перекладу, з якими зустрічається перекладач у своїй професійній діяльності, зокрема: переклад композит і біномів, відтворення артикля, модальності, власних назв і реалій, а також переклад фразеологізмів. Кожна структурна частина підручника супроводжується переліком питань для самоконтролю і практичними завданнями з метою закріплення опанованої теми. У підручнику використано актуальні німецькомовні тексти з авторитетних джерел та їхні офіційні переклади українською мовою, а також рівноавтентичні та паралельні тексти.The textbook is assigned to students of linguistic specialties in institutions of higher education. It presents the main principles of general and specialist theories of translation in order to systematize theoretical knowledge and their subsequent implementation in practice. The textbook is aimed at the analysis of linguistic material in certain cases of the translation of professional texts as well as at the successful practical use of strategies, ways, methods and techniques of translation of different text genres under the terms, which are maximal approached to the translational practice. Each of the two chapters of the textbook is devoted to a separate branch of translation studies. The first chapter focuses on the theoretical principles of the general translation theory, including the main translation concepts and difficulties as well as the algorithm of translating. The second chapter presents the lexico-grammatical and semantic difficulties of specialist translation, faced by the translator in their professional activities, in particular: translation of composites and binominals, rendering of an article, modality, proper names and realia as well as the translation of phraseological units. Each structural unit of the textbook ends with a list of questions for self-control and practical tasks in order to consolidate the gained knowledge of particular subject. The textbook uses relevant German texts from competent sources and their official translations into Ukrainian and also equally authentic and parallel texts.Учебник предназначен для студентов языковых специальностей высших учебных заведений. В нем представлены основные положения общей и специальной теорий перевода с целью систематизации теоретических знаний и их дальнейшей реализации на практике. Учебник нацелен на анализ языкового материала в отдельных случаях перевода профессиональных текстов, а также на удачное применение стратегий, способов, приемов и техник перевода разножанровых текстов в условиях, максимально приближенных к переводческой деятельности. Каждый из двух разделов учебника посвящен отдельной отрасли переводоведения. В первом разделе внимание сосредоточено на теоретических основах общей теории перевода от основных переводческих понятий и проблем до алгоритма осуществления перевода. Второй раздел представляет лексико-грамматические и семантические трудности профессионального перевода, с которыми сталкивается переводчик в своей профессиональной деятельности, в частности: перевод композит и биномов, воспроизведение артикля, модальности, имен собственных и реалий, а также перевод фразеологизмов. Study of the process e+e-\to \mu+\mu- in the energy region \sqrt{s}=980, 1040 -- 1380 MeV

The cross section of the process e+e-\to\mu+\mu- was measured in the SND experiment at the VEPP-2M e+e- collider in the energy region \sqrt{s}=980, 1040 -- 1380 MeV. The event numbers of the process e+e-\to\mu+\mu- were normalized to the integrated luminosity measured using e+e-\to e+e- and e+e-\to\gamma\gamma processes. The ratio of the measured cross section to the theoretically predicted value is 1.006\pm 0.007 \pm 0.016 and 1.005 \pm 0.007 \pm 0.018 in the first and second case respectively. Using results of the measurements, the electromagnetic running coupling constant \alpha in the energy region \sqrt{s}=1040 -- 1380 MeV was obtained = 134.1\pm 0.5 \pm 1.2 and this is in agreement with theoretical expectation.Comment: 29 pages, 23 figure
