Longitudinal Polarization at future e+e−e^+e^- Colliders and Virtual New Physics Effects

    Get PDF
The theoretical merits of longitudinal polarization asymmetries of electron-positron annihilation into two final fermions at future colliders are examined, using a recently proposed theoretical description. A number of interesting features, valid for searches of virtual effects of new physics, is underlined, that is reminiscent of analogous properties valid on top of ZZ resonance. As an application to a concrete example, we consider the case of a model with triple anomalous gauge couplings and show that the additional information provided by these asymmetries would lead to a drastic reduction of the allowed domain of the relevant parameters.Comment: 18 pages and 1 figure. e-mail: [email protected]

Recent economic performance of developing countries

    Get PDF
The GDP growth rate in the developing countries averaged 4.1 percent between 1980 and 1988. Many dynamic countries - chiefly in Asia - did exceedingly well during this period, but many others - typically in Sub-Saharan Africa - regressed. In general, the highly indebted countries have stagnated. If the prospects for the most deprived and highly indebted countries are to be improved, they will need to channel significant real flows into investments. This could be done through a combination of new external debt initiatives and growth inducing domestic policies. Appropriate domestic policies are essential so that external inflows are not negated by higher consumption levels. Perhaps it is time to reassess the Marshall Plan that reinvigorated the depleted post-war Europe. The Marshall Plan provided needed resources in a relatively short period, and since the aid did not carry an interest burden the authorities were not preoccupied with financial engineering.Financial Intermediation,Trade and Regional Integration,Environmental Economics&Policies,Economic Theory&Research,Achieving Shared Growth

Reliability analysis of structural ceramic components using a three-parameter Weibull distribution

    Get PDF
Described here are nonlinear regression estimators for the three-Weibull distribution. Issues relating to the bias and invariance associated with these estimators are examined numerically using Monte Carlo simulation methods. The estimators were used to extract parameters from sintered silicon nitride failure data. A reliability analysis was performed on a turbopump blade utilizing the three-parameter Weibull distribution and the estimates from the sintered silicon nitride data

    Privacy and Geospatial Technologies

    Get PDF
This research examines the role of geospatial and ancillary technologies in the erosion of privacy in contemporary society. The development of Remote Sensing, GIS, and GPS technologies are explored as a means of understanding both their current and predicted uses and capabilities. Examination is also made of the legal basis and current status of privacy rights in the United States. Finally, current and predicted uses and capabilities of geospatial and ancillary technologies are critically examined in light of existing privacy protections as a means of determining the ways in which these technologies are impacting privacy currently and what their effects may be in the future
