The Function of the Minister in the Religious Education Program of the Local Church

Man today is pragmatically minded. The subject which relates itself to current human need is one which gains attention. The contemporary unrest of the world is a result of the uncertainty of religious faith. Man is striving to arrive at basic truths which will be acceptable to all men everywhere. However, there is abundant evidence that the solution of man\u27s problems lies in his religious faith. The question is, how can religious faith be made real and active in the lives of people? How can it be so rooted that the monuments of skepticism, humanism and rationalism will not overthrow the true religious faith? How can it be made vital and transforming to the individual life as well as to the life of society? How can it be imparted to succeeding generations so that they will know its historic and intrinsic value

Reading this book helps one place the struggle for gender equity In leadership of schools into its rightful larger context: equal numbers of women in school, district, and university leadership will contribute to transforming not only these organizations, but also American culture, and ultimately the world. Starkly stated, Wilson\u27s premise is \u27\u27that our future depends on the leadership of women-not to replace men, but to transform our options alongside them (p. x). Growing poverty, a broken health care system, looming environmental problems, and other human and organizational crises throughout the fabric of our society reinforce the need for new options

Leadership in poverty schools is essential for success. This article chronicles the partnership of a principal and a speech and language pathologist who have, together and with some angst, brought teachers in the school together to link language development with reading success. Since 1994, Aurther Perkins and Pat Lindberg have refined a program that is based on common beliefs that children can be successful in schools, that poor parents care much about their children\u27s victories at school, and that reading is the key to success in every subject. Clearly, this documentation of a successful collaboration between a content expert and building leadership reminds us that success for children in at-risk settings is possible through on-site assessment of strengths and implementation of strategies to meet challenges
