ZOS: A Fast Rendezvous Algorithm Based on Set of Available Channels for Cognitive Radios
Most of existing rendezvous algorithms generate channel-hopping sequences
based on the whole channel set. They are inefficient when the set of available
channels is a small subset of the whole channel set. We propose a new algorithm
called ZOS which uses three types of elementary sequences (namely, Zero-type,
One-type, and S-type) to generate channel-hopping sequences based on the set of
available channels. ZOS provides guaranteed rendezvous without any additional
requirements. The maximum time-to-rendezvous of ZOS is upper-bounded by
O(m1*m2*log2M) where M is the number of all channels and m1 and m2 are the
numbers of available channels of two users.Comment: 10 page
HIV-1 variants with a single-point mutation in the gp41 pocket region exhibiting different susceptibility to HIV fusion inhibitors with pocket- or membrane-binding domain
AbstractEnfuvirtide (T20), the first FDA-approved peptide HIV fusion/entry inhibitor derived from the HIV-1 gp41 C-terminal heptad-repeat (CHR) domain, is believed to share a target with C34, another well-characterized CHR-peptide, by interacting with the gp41 N-terminal heptad-repeat (NHR) to form six-helix bundle core. However, our previous studies showed that T20 mainly interacts with the N-terminal region of the NHR (N-NHR) and lipid membranes, while C34 mainly binds to the NHR C-terminal pocket region. But so far, no one has shown that C34 can induce drug-resistance mutation in the gp41 pocket region. In this study, we constructed pseudoviruses in which the Ala at the position of 67 in the gp41 pocket region was substituted with Asp, Gly or Ser, respectively, and found that these mutations rendered the viruses highly resistant to C34, but sensitive to T20. The NHR-peptide N36 with mutations of A67 exhibited reduced anti-HIV-1 activity and decreased α-helicity. The stability of six-helix bundle formed by C34 and N36 with A67 mutations was significantly lower than that formed by C34 and N36 with wild-type sequence. The combination of C34 and T20 resulted in potent synergistic anti-HIV-1 effect against the viruses with mutations in either N- or C-terminal region in NHR. These results suggest that C34 with a pocket-binding domain and T20 containing the N-NHR- and membrane-binding domains inhibit HIV-1 fusion by interacting with different target sites and the combinatorial use of C34 and T20 is expected to be effective against HIV-1 variants resistant to HIV fusion inhibitors
Photodynamic Therapy Combined with Terbinafine Against Chromoblastomycosis and the Effect of PDT on Fonsecaea monophora In Vitro
Chromoblastomycosis, a chronic fungal infection of skin and subcutaneous tissue caused by dematiaceous fungi, is associated with low cure and high relapse rates. Among all factors affecting clinical outcome, etiological agents have an important position. In southern China, Fonsecaea pedrosoi and Fonsecaea monophora are main causative agents causing Chromoblastomycosis. We treated one case of chromoblastomycosis by photodynamic therapy (PDT) of 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) irradiation combined with terbinafine 250 mg a day. The lesions were improved after two sessions of ALA-PDT treatment, each including nine times, at an interval of 1 week, combined with terbinafine 250 mg/day oral, and clinical improvement could be observed. In the following study, based on the clinical treatment, the effect of PDT and antifungal drugs on this isolate was detected in vitro. It showed sensitivity to terbinafine, itraconazole or voriconazole, and PDT inhibited the growth. Both the clinic and experiments in vitro confirm the good outcome of ALA-PDT applied in the inhibition of F. monophora. It demonstrated that combination of antifungal drugs with ALA-PDT arises as a promising alternative method for the treatment of these refractory cases of chromoblastomycosis.National Natural Science Foundation (China) (81371747

epihet for intra-tumoral epigenetic heterogeneity analysis and visualization.
Intra-tumoral epigenetic heterogeneity is an indicator of tumor population fitness and is linked to the deregulation of transcription. However, there is no published computational tool to automate the measurement of intra-tumoral epigenetic allelic heterogeneity. We developed an R/Bioconductor package, epihet, to calculate the intra-tumoral epigenetic heterogeneity and to perform differential epigenetic heterogeneity analysis. Furthermore, epihet can implement a biological network analysis workflow for transforming cancer-specific differential epigenetic heterogeneity loci into cancer-related biological function and clinical biomarkers. Finally, we demonstrated epihet utility on acute myeloid leukemia. We found statistically significant differential epigenetic heterogeneity (DEH) loci compared to normal controls and constructed co-epigenetic heterogeneity network and modules. epihet is available at https://bioconductor.org/packages/release/bioc/html/epihet.html

Visiting natural disaster sites as transformational experiences
Purpose – The purpose of this research was to investigate the perceived benefits arising from tourist activities at natural disaster sites, to analyze the influence of perceived benefits on satisfaction and behavioral intentions, and to identify the moderating role of origin region.
Design/methodology/approach – A research model containing dark tourism motivations, perceived benefits, satisfaction, protection and loyalty intentions was developed, and visitor origin was introduced as a moderating variable. Taking the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial Museum as the case site, data were obtained by distributing questionnaires on-site, and the model was tested using PLS-SEM.
Findings – Dark tourism motivations had a significant effect on cognitive and affective benefits, and perceived benefits significantly affected satisfaction, protection and loyalty intentions, with satisfaction playing a partial mediating role. The origins of tourists showed a moderating role in part of the influence relationship of perceived benefits.
Originality/value – This research adopted a new perspective of the decision-making behavior of dark tourists, analyzed perceived benefits of dark tourism from natural disaster sites, and examined the relationship between perceived benefits and motivation, satisfaction, protection and loyalty intentions. Considering the specificity of dark tourism emotions, the research also analyzed the similarities and differences in the psychology and behavior of locals and non-locals in dark tourism. The research results enrich and deepen the theoretical study of dark tourism
Fermi Surface and Band Renormalization in (Sr,K)FeAs Superconductor from Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy
High resolution angle-resolved photoemission measurements have been carried
out on (Sr,K)FeAs superconductor (Tc=21 K). Three hole-like Fermi
surface sheets are clearly resolved for the first time around the Gamma point.
The overall electronic structure shows significant difference from the band
structure calculations. Qualitative agreement between the measured and
calculated band structure is realized by assuming a chemical potential shift of
-0.2 eV. The obvious band renormalization suggests the importance of electron
correlation in understanding the electronic structure of the Fe-based
