    AbstractOzone as a major ambient gas pollutant needs to be removed for many indoor environments due to its adverse health effect. The objective of this study is to investigate the ozone removal performance of a Hopcalite catalyst CuO/MnO2 under different operation conditions. The effect of relative humidity (15-80%), temperature (30-160°C) and ozone concentration (200-2000ppb) was experimentally tested. Then the catalyst was coated on fiberglass media for application. The influence of preparation method was also investigated. Finally, the application analysis of such material is discussed for building environment control situation

    Association between selenium intake and migraine: a nationwide cross-sectional study

    BackgroundDietary interventions for migraine are receiving increasing attention. However, it remains unclear whether there is any relationship between migraine and selenium intake. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between selenium intake and migraine.MethodsWe used multivariate logistic regression equations to explore the association between selenium intake and migraine. Restricted cubic splines were used to examine the presence of non-linear relationships. Upon finding a non-linear relationship, a recursive algorithm was used to calculate the inflection point. Population differences were also explored through stratified analysis.ResultsIn the model adjusted for all covariates, the ORs (95% CI) for the association between selenium intake and migraine were 0.96 (0.88, 1.04), which was no statistical significance. However, the result of the linear trend test with quadrilles of selenium intake indicated the association between selenium intake and migraine may be non-linear. The restricted cubic splines confirmed this non-linear relationship, finding an inflection point (93.1 mcg/day), where the odds of migraine decreased with increasing selenium intake before the inflection point, and no statistically significant relationship was found after the inflection point. The association between selenium intake and migraine was non-linear in all strata except the obese.ConclusionWe found a non-linear association between selenium intake and migraine in the general American population

    We report the absolute frequency measurement of the 5s2 1S0-5s5p 3P0 transition in 87Sr optical lattice clock (Sr1) at National Time Service Center (NTSC). Its systematic frequency shifts are evaluated carefully with a total relative uncertainty of 5.1E10-17. The measured absolute frequency is 429 228 004 229 872.91(18) Hz with a relative uncertainty of 4.13E10-16, with reference to the ensemble of primary and secondary frequency standards published in the Circular T bulletin by BIPM through a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) link

    Refined Qingkailing Protects MCAO Mice from Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress-Induced Apoptosis with a Broad Time Window

    In the current study, we are investigating effect of refined QKL on ischemia-reperfusion-induced brain injury in mice. Methods. Mice were employed to induce ischemia-reperfusion injury of brain by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). RQKL solution was administered with different doses (0, 1.5, 3, and 6 mL/kg body weight) at the same time of onset of ischemia, and with the dose of 1.5 mL/kg at different time points (0, 1.5, 3, 6, and 9 h after MCAO). Neurological function and brain infarction were examined and cell apoptosis and ROS at prefrontal cortex were evaluated 24 h after MCAO, and western blot and intracellular calcium were also researched, respectively. Results. RQKL of all doses can improve neurological function and decrease brain infarction, and it performed significant effect in 0, 1.5, 3, and 6 h groups. Moreover, RQKL was able to reduce apoptotic process by reduction of caspase-3 expression, or restraint of eIF2a phosphorylation and caspase-12 activation. It was also able to reduce ROS and modulate intracellular calcium in the brain. Conclusion. RQKL can prevent ischemic-induced brain injury with a time window of 6 h, and its mechanism might be related to suppress ER stress-mediated apoptotic signaling

    Three‐stage electric vehicle scheduling considering stakeholders economic inconsistency and battery degradation

    This study proposes an electric vehicle (EV) aggregator operation mechanism in a residential community. The EV charging and discharging operation behaviours are scheduled to maximise the EV aggregator revenue, while EV aggregator provides reserve service for the grid. This study not only considers the energy and information interactions between three stakeholders: EV aggregator, EV owners, and power grids, but also the economic interests of aggregator and owners are considered. The aggregator-owner economic inconsistency issue (EV owners get higher charging cost in aggregator scheduling than self-scheduling) is presented. In order to mediate this issue, a rebate factor is proposed. In the first stage, the objective is to minimise the day-ahead (DA) charging cost of EV owners. Then the second stage is to maximise DA aggregator revenue with different rebate values. Finally, in the third stage, a real-time scheduling strategy is proposed to maximise aggregator revenue using the optimal rebate value. In addition, the battery degradation in influencing scheduling is formulated. Scheduling results show the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, e.g. economic inconsistency of different parties can be mediated. Significant reduction of EV owners’ cost from self-scheduling can be achieved while the revenue of EV aggregator is maximised under the proposed strategy
