Dispersive contribution to the nucleus-nucleus potential

With a simple parametrization of the empirical imaginary potential depths, the real potential induced by a dispersion relation is calculated analytically for the elastic scattering of O16 by several target nuclei. Between 25e50 % of the real potential empirical depths can be attributed to this dispersive contribution when the energy approaches the Coulomb barrier. Thus, the anomaly observed in the microscopically calculated real potential at these energies can be explained by taking into account the real part induced from the imaginary one through the dispersion relation.Comisión Asesora de Investigación Científica y Técnica 2868-8

Organizational tools and cultural change in the success of lean transformations: delving into sequence and rhythm

Even if the original seminal authors developed the tools used in lean manufacturing (LM) as inherently culture-dependent, western companies have found a variety of alternatives to implement them. We can simplify them by theoretically identifying two different extreme approaches that in real life are normally combined with diverse intensities: one emphasizes the intrinsically efficient nature of lean tools (lean-toolbox perspective), whereas the other stresses the cultural side (lean-culture perspective). The inappropriate interaction between both approaches has been put at the root of the low success rate of LM in non-Japanese firms. On the one hand, there is no agreement on which sequence to follow regarding managerial tools and cultural change during lean transformation processes. On the other hand, there are also different views on what the correct rhythm should be, since the pace at which organizational tools and cultural transformation occur can also determine the synergies that both can generate. This article synthesizes and compares empirically the different perspectives and tests them in a wide dataset of 1692 North American manufacturing firms. Results suggest that cultural change does not moderate or precede lean transformations, but instead totally mediates the relation between the deployment of tools and enhanced plant performance. These findings not only offer managers a tentative sequence and rhythm in the deployment of lean tools and values but also offer a relevant theoretical byproduct: the integration of Western and Japanese approaches.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad | Ref. Watch the working capital of tier-two suppliers: a financial perspective of supply chain collaboration in the automotive industry

Purpose: This paper aims to examine how lack of financial cooperation damages the operational efficiency of supply chains. The thesis is that economic and technological forces are provoking increasing financial tensions that push companies to transfer their credit needs and inventory requirements to their weakest suppliers. Thus, what might initially seem positive from an individual perspective can in fact generate losses in production efficiency for the supply chain as a whole. Design/Methodology/approach: This paper uses official data collected from 116 first- and second-tier suppliers in the Spanish automotive components sector, covering nine years (2001-2009). The relationships between the key variables are analysed using panel data estimations. Findings: Significant differences were found between the working capital (WC) of first- and second-tier companies, proving additionally that although this approach may temporarily improve the results of first-tier suppliers, it leads to lower production efficiency in plants throughout the value chain. Practical implications: Practitioners should avoid short-sighted attitudes when organizing the supply chain on a cooperative basis, going beyond the conventional wisdom on physical and information flows between original equipment manufacturers and their suppliers to reach upstream stages and embracing financial considerations. Originality/value: The paper takes a novel approach to the issue of inter-organizational collaboration in the supply chain, aiming to go beyond conventional Lean Supply practices. From an empirical point of view, while much of the research on the topic utilizes key informant insights collected using psychometric data collection techniques, this study uses different financial proxies collected from secondary panel data

A phenomenological imaginary part of the optical potential for heavy ions

The depth of the imaginary part of the optical potential is derived from the assumption that, at a given energy and for each partial wave L, it is proportional to the compound nucleus density level up to a given excitation energy above the yrast level corresponding to the angular momentum L, and remains a constant for smaller values of L. The prescription is successfully tested for the system 16O + 28Si at nine different projectile energies between 33 and 81 MeV; it fails however at 141.5 MeV, as expected, because other channels, besides elastic scattering and fusion, are important

El actual trabajo investigativo muestra la factibilidad de una idea de negocio para la ciudad de Pereira, específicamente la creación de una comercializadora y distribuidora de galletas artesanales. Los individuos actualmente se han vuelto más exigentes con los productos o servicios que adquieren, en este caso, para el sector alimentos o de bienes de consumo, las personas están más atentas a mirar el tipo de ingredientes, calorías, azucares, en dónde lo venden, las opciones para comprar los productos, si tienen local, si tienen domicilio o simplemente en que tipo de plataformas están presenten. Una de las acciones más importantes para el estudio fue la realización de una encuesta que permitió perfilar por estratos el tipo de clientes que podrían estar dispuestos a pagar más de $2.500 pesos por una galleta artesanal, sus sabores predilectos, que acompañamiento prefieren, de que forma les gustaría comer este tipo de producto y los medios por los cuales les gustaría recibir publicidad de las galletas artesanales o la forma para acceder a ellas. Se logró analizar y determinar si la idea de negocio era viable, que presupuesto se debía tener y así mostrar un panorama más claro de cómo se podría entrar a un mercado exigente y nuevo para muchos consumidores, como es el de un producto artesanal. Algo importante a tener en cuenta es que los individuos encuestados no están en la gran mayoría de los casos pendientes de una marca de galletas, si el producto tiene buena calidad, buen sabor, es llamativo para ellos, vale la pena el esfuerzo y el resultado de este es la compra del mismo.The current research shows the practicability of a business idea for the city of Pereira, specifically the creation of a marketer and distributor of artisanal cookies. Individuals have now become more demanding with the products or services they acquire, in this case, for the food or consumer goods sector, people are more attentive to look at the type of ingredients, calories, sugars, where they sell it, the options to buy the products, if they have premises, if they have delivery or simply in what type of platforms they are present. One of the most important actions for the study was the conduct of a survey that allowed profiling by social stratum the type of customers who might be willing to pay more than$ 2,500 pesos for a artisanal cookie, their favorite flavors, which accompaniment they prefer, in what way They would like to eat this type of product and the means by which they would like to receive advertising of artisanal cookies or the way to access them. It was possible to analyze and determine if the business idea was viable, what budget should be had and thus show a clearer picture of how to enter a demanding and new market for many consumers, such as that of a artisanal product. Something important to keep in mind is that a lot of people don't care about the cookie brand, if the product has good quality, good taste, it is striking for them, it is worth the effort and the result, is the purchase of it

Simple estimates of excitation energy sharing between heavy and light fragments in heavy-ion reactions

Qualitative arguments are used to estiamte the ratio of excitation energies between heavy and light fragments for asymmetric heavy-ion collisions. The value of this quantity is linked to the relative role played by inelastic and transfer degrees of freedom and thereby to an approximate function of the total kinetic energy loss.
