Home-Based Parent Child Therapy for Young Traumatized Children Living In Poverty: A Randomized Controlled Trial
A randomized control trial was used to evaluate the effectiveness of a home-based, parent-and-child therapy program specifically developed for toddlers and preschoolers living in poverty with trauma symptoms. Sixty-four children 5-years of age and younger were referred to a community-based clinic for behavior problems and emotional difficulties. All children had experienced one or more potentially traumatic events and met the DSM-5’s criteria for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Children Six Years of Age and Younger. All families received government assistance indicating that their income met the federal definition for poverty. Participants were randomly assigned to either immediate treatment or wait list control groups. Significant between-group differences on all post-treatment measures were found. After the waitlist group completed treatment, significant improvements for both groups were found on all measures at six-weeks follow-up. Outcomes included reductions in challenging behaviors and emotional symptoms of trauma, improved caregiver-child relationships, and increased caregiver adherence to treatment strategies. This study offers support for early intervention of children with trauma symptoms and identifies the clinical challenges and advantages of providing therapy services in a home setting for very young children in poverty
Gauging internal fermionic symmetries and spin 3/2 fields
Field theoretic models possessing a global internal fermionic shift symmetry
are considered. When such a symmetry is realized locally, spin 3/2 fields
appear naturally as gauge fields. Implementation of the gauging procedure
requires not only the usual replacement of ordinary derivatives by covariant
derivatives containing the spin 3/2 fields, but also the inclusion of
additional monomials. The Higgs mechanism and the high energy Nambu-Goldstone
fermion equivalence theorem are explicitly demonstrated.Comment: 9 page
Spin structure of spin-1/2 baryon and spinless meson production amplitudes in photo and hadronic reactions
The most general spin structures of the spin-1/2 baryon and spinless meson
production operator for both photon and nucleon induced reactions are derived
from the partial-wave expansions of these reaction amplitudes. The present
method provides the coefficients multiplying each spin operator in terms of the
partial-wave matrix elements. The result should be useful in studies of these
reactions based on partial-wave analyses, especially, when spin observables are
considered.Comment: RevTex 34 pages, revised versio

Method of fan sound mode structure determination computer program user's manual: Modal calculation program
A computer user's manual describing the operation and the essential features of the Modal Calculation Program is presented. The modal Calculation Program calculates the amplitude and phase of modal structures by means of acoustic pressure measurements obtained from microphones placed at selected locations within the fan inlet duct. In addition, the Modal Calculation Program also calculates the first-order errors in the modal coefficients that are due to tolerances in microphone location coordinates and inaccuracies in the acoustic pressure measurements
Early Pathways Therapy for Young Children in Poverty: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Early Pathways is a home-based, parent and child therapy program for the treatment of disruptive behaviors among young children living in poverty. In this study, 199 clinically referred children were randomly assigned to an immediate treatment (IT) or wait-list control (WL) conditions. Results indicated that parents in the IT condition reported significant improvements in their child’s disruptive and prosocial behaviors and increased nurturing and decreased use of corporal and verbal punishment by their parents compared to the WL families. Gains were maintained for children in both the IT and WL conditions at 3-month follow-up
Method of fan sound mode structure determination computer program user's manual: Microphone location program
A computer user's manual describing the operation and the essential features of the microphone location program is presented. The Microphone Location Program determines microphone locations that ensure accurate and stable results from the equation system used to calculate modal structures. As part of the computational procedure for the Microphone Location Program, a first-order measure of the stability of the equation system was indicated by a matrix 'conditioning' number
Charged spin 1/2 particle in an arbitrary magnetic field in two spatial dimensions: a supersymmetric quantum mechanical system
It is shown that the 2 X 2 matrix Hamiltonian describing the dynamics of a
charged spin 1/2 particle with g-factor 2 moving in an arbitrary, spatially
dependent, magnetic field in two spatial dimensions can be written as the
anticommuator of a nilpotent operator and its hermitian conjugate.
Consequently, the Hamiltonians for the two different spin projections form
partners of a supersymmetric quantum mechanical system. The resulting
supersymmetry algebra can then be exploited to explicitly construct the exact
zero energy ground state wavefunction for the system. Modulo this ground state,
the remainder of the eigenstates and eigenvalues of the two partner
Hamiltonians form positive energy degenerate pairs. We also construct the
spatially asymptotic form of the magnetic field which produces a finite
magnetic flux and associated zero energy normalizable ground state
wavefunction.Comment: 10 pages, LaTe
