    Gender Preferences in Wine Marketing

    When purchasing a bottle of wine, the label is the consumer’s first impression. Previous research about how different target markets react to label design and information cues have proven to have significant differences. This study was undertaken to determine how men and women view these features and cues differently. An online survey was submitted to 100 potential respondents with 69 surveys returned for analysis. Various statistical data analysis was conducted and the results are presented in this report. There was a significant difference across the genders for a label that “is colorful” and for an “organic” information cue. It is concluded in this report that although the statistical findings were not in unison with previous research, the results still present useful marketing information. It is recommended that the survey conducted be done again with a larger sample size and in a larger demographical area

    STRUCTURE OF THE TAIL OF A PHYTOSAUR (REPTILIA, ARCHOSAURIA) FROM THE NORIAN (LATE TRIASSIC) OF LOMBARDY (NORTHERN ITALY)

    The structure of the caudal portion of a vertebral column belonging to a complete phytosaur skeleton is described. The skeleton has been collected from the Calcare di Zorzino (Zorzino Limestone) of Norian (Late Triassic) age, in the small quarry of Endenna (Bergamo, Lombardy, Northern Italy). The specimen is currently being prepared, and only a detailed description of the tail is possible. The exposed portion of the skull, which shows, among other characters, a narrow, flattened snout, suggests possible relationships with the genus Mystriosuchus, but preparation of the skull must be finished prior to attempting any classification. The morphology of the tail vertebrae has never been figured for phytosaurs; however, the structure of the tail vertebrae of this specimen reflects a great degree of adaptation toward aquatic life, justifying its description prior to complete preparation. If this specimen represents a new species, it should have been highly specialised toward marine life than most other phytosaurs in which the postcranial skeleton is known.&nbsp

    Sudden cardiac death in young athletes: Literature review of molecular basis

    Intense athletic training and competition can rarely result in sudden cardiac death (SCD). Despite the introduction of pre-participation cardiovascular screening, especially among young competitive athletes, sport-related SCD remains a debated issue among medical personnel, sports communities and laypersons alike, and generates significant media attention. The most frequent cause of SCD is a hidden inherited cardiomyopathy, the athletes may not even be aware of. Predictive medicine, by searching the presence of pathogenic alterations in cardiac genes, may be an integrative tool, besides the conventional ones used in cardiology (mainly electro and echocardiogram), to reach a definitive diagnosis in athletes showing signs/symptoms, even borderline, of inherited cardiomyopathy/ channelopathy, and in athletes presenting family history of SCD and/or of hereditary cardiac disease. In this review, we revised the molecular basis of the major cardiac diseases associated to sudden cardiac death and the clinical molecular biology approach that can be used to perform risk assessment at DNA level of sudden cardiac death, contributing to the early implementation of adequate therapy. Alterations can occur in ion channel genes, in genes encoding desmosomal and junctional proteins, sarcomeric and Z-disc proteins, proteins for the cytoskeleton and the nuclear envelope. The advent of next generation sequencing (NGS) technology has provided the means to search for mutations in all these genes, at the same time. Therefore, this molecular approach should be the preferred methodology for the aforementioned purpose
