Strategic Facility Planning for Overseas Non-profit Organizations
Indiana University Purdue University IndianapolisStrategic facility planning provides an organization with a methodology to optimize resources and ensure that facility management decisions are aligned with an organization's overall business goals. While most organizations have a clear mission and a vision of the future, many mid-sized organizations, to their detriment, fail to prioritize strategic facility planning. The purpose of this study was to understand and document best practices and to create a Strategic Facility Plan (SFP) for a mid-sized, overseas, non-profit enterprise. The SFP created provides a snapshot of current conditions, documents recent decisions, and goals for the future so that the leadership team has a framework within which to make facility and business decisions. The SFP is scalable and could apply to other similar organizations. The methodology for creating the SFP included meeting with key stakeholders, surveying customers, site walk-throughs, and applying data collection and analysis techniques using a Pugh Decision Matrix, a Process and Project Delivery Review, and a Balanced Scorecard.Facilities Management Technolog

Toward a user-oriented analytical approach to learning design
The London Pedagogy Planner (LPP) is a prototype for a collaborative online planning and design tool that supports lecturers in developing, analysing and sharing learning designs. The tool is based on a developing model of the components involved in learning design, and the critical relationships between them. As a decision tool, it makes the pedagogical design explicit as an output from the process, capturing it for testing, redesign, reuse and adaptation by the originator, or by others. The aim is to test the extent to which we can engage lecturers in reflecting on learning design, and make them part of the educational community that discovers how best to use Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL). This paper describes the development of LPP, presents pedagogical benefits of visual representations of learning designs, and proposes an analytical approach to learning design based on these visual representations. The analytical approach is illustrated based on an initial evaluation with the lecturers

Towards timeless goals using timely means
The universal goals of education as described in Freire's Critical Pedagogy are the focus of this presentation. In this regard the pedagogical aspects of the presentation will include the focus on EdTech's utility in i) reducing the inherent coercive tension in teacher-learner dynamic, and, ii) promoting the 3 goals of Critical Pedagogy: knowing yourself, knowing the world, and, knowing how to change the world. The universal appeal of Critical Pedagogy is in its clear focus on promoting subjectivity and engagement with the world as the prerequisites for development of democratic societies

Potential for Green Corridors Along the Danube River in Novi Sad, Serbia
Green corridors are areas or bands that play the role of separating two functionally different areas with natural elements usually different types of vegetation (trees, shrubs, flowers, and grass). Another important feature of green corridors is linking the leafy area into a unique whole. In this case, prevent fragmentation habitat corridors and represented areas in which it can develop biodiversity. If the green corridors are along the banks (lakes, rivers, seas, channels) their importance is increasing. Green corridors that follow the coastline, depending on the types of trees and shrubs may have a significant impact on water levels and groundwater levels. In social terms microclimate conditions of green belts along the water allows the development of a number of functional programs. If these corridors are within the urban structure benefits that these areas provide their citizens are manifold. The variety of content along the coast can have a positive impact on mental and physical health of users. The banks and their contents must be designed and made available to all residents because it will be the only way to enable their everyday use that leads to positive results for the health of the individual. In this sense, the selection of functions, their positioning along a green corridor and the water\u27s surface, and the distance between certain functional content must be carefully thought out. All functions within the Green corridors along the banks of the Danube and the canal Danube-Tisa-Danube (DTD) in Novi Sad must be connected with continuous pedestrian and bicycle communication - paths. Bearing in mind that the bike trail corridor Eurovelo 6 in its one part passes through the territory of Novi Sad this association is even more significant. In order to fulfil the requirement of accessibility of these paths along the coast, they must be associated with the entire system of walking and biking paths throughout the city. The city network of these paths must also be associated with a network of interurban and suburban areas in the immediate environment of Novi Sad. The theme of this paper is to explore the potential that provides the left bank of the Danube and both banks of the canal DTD in Novi Sad. Part of the research paper is to identified the existing facilities and itās important for recreation and socialization for all residents particularly ones living along the Danube and canal DTD waterfront
"We regret to inform you that you did not match": Reflections on how to improve the match experience
Background: With the increasing awareness and action amongst stakeholders in addressing the concerning rise of unmatched Canadian Medical Graduates (CMGs), little is known from those who go unmatched. We use our unmatched experience to contribute to this dialogue.
Methods: We present an issues-based examination of the matching process by reflecting on the pre- and post-match period, providing suggestions related to the Canadian context from the unmatched perspective.
Results: The challenge in the pre-match period was handling uncertainty in elective scheduling. This uncertainty was largely manifested from not knowing elective availability at the time of elective application submission, as well as not knowing what āstrategyā we should follow in how to structure our elective schedule. For the post-matched period, we were challenged by making decisions during a time-sensitive period, deciding on career issues like scheduling post-match electives, handling our finances, and trying to improve our future residency applications without feedback.
Conclusion: Providing a real-time document of elective availability, providing focused feedback from our residency applications, and implementing and expanding upon extended curriculums for all medical schools to continue CMG training for their unmatched students for upcoming match cycles would greatly improve the unmatched experience. 
Rekonstitucija prirodnih populacija linjaka (tinca tinca) primenom laboratorijskog mresta
Linjak je jedina vrsta iz roda Tinca i živi u vodama Europe i Sibira do 610 sgÅ”. NajÄeÅ”Äe se sreÄe u manjim plitkim vodenim bazenima sa muljevitim dnom, proseÄne dubine do 2 m, koji su dobro zagrejani preko leta i bogato obrasli vodenom vegetacijom. Aktuelna sistematska istraživanja ihtiofaune i ribljeg fonda brojnih, za linjaka, tipiÄnih hidroekosistema, ukazuju na njegovo sporadiÄno prisustvo. Na osnovu analize brojnosti i gustine populacija u raznim tipovima stajaÄih i tekuÄih voda, prirodnim i reÄnim jezerima, akumulacijama, kanalskoj mreži hidroistema Dunav-Tisa-Dunav, kao i rekama i njihovim plavnim zonama ustanovljen je zvaniÄni status kao nizak-LR (lc). Istovremeno, u Evropi se nalazi u kategoriji āintermediateā, ali vrlo lako može biti prebaÄen u kategotije āredakā ili ranjivā, ako se nastavi sa devastacijom staniÅ”ta. Na osnovu probnih lovova utvrÄeno je individualno uÄeÅ”Äe u ukupnom ulovu na pojedinim lokacijama kanala HsDTD u BaÄkoj i Banatu od 0.22 do 18%, dok je maseni udeo iznosio od 0.16 do 24%. U pojedinim reÄnim sistemima Dunava, Tise, Save i TamiÅ”a (obalni region, stara korita i plavna zona) brojni udeo linjaka se kreÄe od 0.37 do 25%, a težinski iznosi 1.2-17.3%. Tench are found in very small numbers in our waters. SadaÅ”nja proizvodnja linjaka u toplovodnim ribnjacima Srbije je zanemarljiva, iako je u prvoj polovini proÅ”log veka ona bila na drugom mestu, odmah iza Å”arana.
U cilju uveÄavanja brojnosti i gustina populacija linjaka sproveden je laboratorijski mrest matica odabranih iz divljih populacija na osnovu habitusa. Ženke su bile starosti 2-4 godine i težine od 400-1500 g. a mužjaci su imali tri godine i telesnu masu 250-700 g. Hranjeni su u dnevnoj koliÄina 1-3 % u odnosu na ukupnu težinu. Hormonalna stimulacija izvedena je ākobarelinomā, sintetiÄkim preparatom LH-RH (5 mg/kg) i jednokratnom hipofizacijom pri temperaturi vode 21-22 0C. MeÅ”anje ikre i mleÄa se obavlja u odnosu 100g : 0,4 ml uz postupak odlepljivanja pomoÄu alkalaze. Do izvaljivanja, pri temperaturi 20-220C, doÅ”lo je za 1260 Äasova. Procenat oploÄenja je iznosio 90%.
Izvaljene predlarve su prebaÄene u ležnice i posle 6-7 dana, pri temperaturi vode od 200C, razvile su se larve, sposobne za samostalnu ishranu u rastiliÅ”tima i mladiÄnjacima, gde se gaje u mono- ili polikulturi (sa Å”aranom). U monokulturi (bez prelova) nasaÄuje se 100.000ā400.000 kom/ha i na kraju sezone narastu 3-10g u zavisnosti od gustine nasada (guÅ”Äi ā 50.000-80.000, a reÄi 30.000-50.000). U objektima sa prelovom nasaÄuje se 300.000-2.000.000 kom/ha. Preživljavanje se kreÄe 5-30%. Kod poluintenzivnog gajenja, u polikulturi sa Å”aranom, dobijen je prinos 300 kg/ha. Prezimljavanje jednogodiÅ”njih mladunaca je sprovedeno u istom objektu, a nastavak gajenja je obavljen po ekstenzivnim principima uz dodavanje ugorelog stajnjaka (6000 kg/ha). Masa linjaka na kraju druge godine proizvodnje se kretala 60-120 g, a ukupna proizvodnja je iznosila 800 kg/ha dvogodiÅ”njih riba uz utroÅ”ak kompletnih hraniva (25% sirovih proteina biljnog porekla i pivski kvasac) od 600 kg. Paralelno sa laboratirijskim, organizovan je i prirodni mrest u objektu od 0.2 ha optimalno obraslom vodenom vegetacijom, sa 5 matica.
Dobijeni dvogodiŔnji mladunci se koriste za poribljavanje otvorenih voda kao uspeŔna alternacija mrestu u prirodnim plodiŔtima
PoreÄenje kvaliteta mesa linjaka i Å”arana
U poslednje dve godine postoje veliki problemi u plasmanu slatkovodnih riba proizvedenih na naÅ”im ribnjacima. ZahvaljujuÄi nekontrolisanom uvozu, doÅ”lo je do toga da se na naÅ”em tržiÅ”tu naÄe velika koliÄina jeftinih vrsta riba, pre svega Pangasius pangasius iz Vijetnama , Äiji je uvoz zabranjen u mnogim razvijenim zemljama, pre svega SAD, Kanadi i veÄem broju zemalja Evropske Unije. Velprodajna cena Å”arana je veoma niska, pa je doveden u pitanje opstanak naÅ”e ribarske privrede, u Äijoj strukturi Å”aran uÄestvuje najveÄim delom. Stoga je potrebno razmiÅ”ljati o uvoÄenju drugih slatkovodnih vrsta koje bi se mogle plasirati na tržiÅ”te Evropske Unije, Å”to se pre svega odnosi na linjaka. TakoÄe, treba razmiÅ”ljati i o organskoj proizvodnji riba i o kreatnju ka ekstenzivnijim metodama gajenja. Neophodno je voditi raÄuna i o nutritivnom kvalitetu mesa jer se od ribarske privrede oÄekuje proizvod sa niskim sadržajem masti i povoljnim odnosom nezasiÄenih masnih kiselina, pre svega Ļ-3 i Ļ-6 masnih kiselina. Poznat je povoljan uticaj Ļ-3 polinezasiÄenih masnih kiselina (PNMK) iz mesa ribe na zdravlje Äoveka, kao i da poveÄana potroÅ”nja ribe utiÄe na spreÄavanje nastanka oboljenja kardiovaskularnog sistema, kao i u prevenciji inflamatornih, autoimunih i malignih oboljenja, dijabetesa i drugih bolesti. Literalni podaci o randmanu dvogodiÅ”njih riba linjaka i Å”arana su veoma oskudni, dok su dostupne informacije o konzumnim ribama koje su starosti tri i viÅ”e godina. Kako kvalitet mesa zavisi od starosti jedinke, neophodna su istraživanja i o kvalitetu mesa mlaÄih kategorija riba. Osim randmana analizirani su i hemijski sastav mesa dvogodiÅ”njeg linjaka i Å”arana sa akcentom na zastupljenost masnih kiselina i poreÄenje odnosa ovih vrednosti kod linjaka i Å”arana. Uzorci dvogodiÅ”njeg linjaka i Å”arana uzeti su na oglednom ribnjaku "MoÅ”orin". Proizvodnja ovih riba odvijala se u ekstenzivnom sistemu, gde je poveÄanje organske produkcije vrÅ”eno pregorelim goveÄim i ovÄijim stajnjakom. Ishrana dodatnim hranivima nije vrÅ”ena. U pripremi objekta i tokom vegetacionog perioda koriÅ”Äen je hidratni kreÄ. Analize hemijskog sastava i masnokiselinskog sastava lipida ribe su izvrÅ”ene u Institutu za higijenu i tehnologiju mesa, Beograd. Analizom morfometrijskih karakteristika ribe utvrÄena je dobra kondicija. Randman mesa linjaka povoljniji je od istoga kod Å”arana Å”to se može objasniti manjom masom digestivnog trakta ove vrste. Razlog za niži procenat proteina kod linjaka i kod Å”arana nego Å”to je to prikazivano u klasiÄnoj literaturi je Å”to se radi o mesu dvogodiÅ”njih riba dok se pomenuti literaturni podaci odnose na starije kategorije koje imaju manji sadržaj vode. VeÄi sadržaj vode kod dvogodiÅ”njih riba doprinosi boljem gastronomskom kvalitetu mesa. Po sadržaju masti meso linjaka je približno vrednostima tolstolobika i amura, iz Äega se može zakljuÄiti da je veoma pogodno kao dijetalna hrana za potrebe posebnih zdravstvenih kategorija ljudi. I dvogodiÅ”nji Å”aran ima nizak procenat masti iz Äega se može zakljuÄiti da Å”aran ne spada u masne ribe jer ima niži procenat sadržaja masti od pastrmke. Tehnologija gajenja odnosno vrsta dodatne ishrane je najodgovornija za procenat masti. Odnos nezasiÄenih masnih kiselina kod linjaka povoljniji je nego kod Å”arana i pastrmke i u sliÄnom nivou je sa istim kod morskih vrsta riba. Meso dvogodiÅ”njih riba po svom hemijskom sastavu ima prednost u odnosu na meso riba gajenih u trogodiÅ”njem i viÅ”egodiÅ”njem sistemu gajenja. Ekstenzivni sistem ima prednost u kvalitetu mesa ali treba analizirati njegovu ekonomsku opravdanost. Kvalitet mesa linjaka je izuzetnih nutritivnih vrednosti Å”to je razlog za njegovu reintrodukciju i repopulaciju. Meso riba visoke nutritivne vrednosti ima perspektivu kao izvozni artikal u zemlje Evropske Unije i druge razvijene zemlje
