Kinetics data for diffusion of outgas species from RTV 560
A detailed analytical and experimental study was made of the outgassing behavior of RTV 560 silicone rubber. The four outgas species which predominate in the temperature range of 285 K to 425 K were separately identified. The initial concentration of these species in the parent material and their bulk volatilities were determined. The diffusion coefficients and activation energy for diffusion of the two major species were deduced from outgassing rate data. It is shown that by using these data in a diffusion theory model, the outgassing rates of these major species can be predicted for arbitrary geometry and any temperature within the range studied
Representations and classification of traveling wave solutions to Sinh-G{\"o}rdon equation
Two concepts named atom solution and combinatory solution are defined. The
classification of all single traveling wave atom solutions to Sinh-G{\"o}rdon
equation is obtained, and qualitative properties of solutions are discussed. In
particular, we point out that some qualitative properties derived intuitively
from dynamic system method aren't true. In final, we prove that our solutions
to Sinh-G{\"o}rdon equation include all solutions obtained in the paper[Fu Z T
et al, Commu. in Theor. Phys.(Beijing) 2006 45 55]. Through an example, we show
how to give some new identities on Jacobian elliptic functions.Comment: 12 pages. accepted by Communications in theoretical physics (Beijing
Information filtering via preferential diffusion
Recommender systems have shown great potential to address information
overload problem, namely to help users in finding interesting and relevant
objects within a huge information space. Some physical dynamics, including heat
conduction process and mass or energy diffusion on networks, have recently
found applications in personalized recommendation. Most of the previous studies
focus overwhelmingly on recommendation accuracy as the only important factor,
while overlook the significance of diversity and novelty which indeed provide
the vitality of the system. In this paper, we propose a recommendation
algorithm based on the preferential diffusion process on user-object bipartite
network. Numerical analyses on two benchmark datasets, MovieLens and Netflix,
indicate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods.
Specifically, it can not only provide more accurate recommendations, but also
generate more diverse and novel recommendations by accurately recommending
unpopular objects.Comment: 12 pages, 10 figures, 2 table
Segregation of Polymers in Confined Spaces
We investigate the motion of two overlapping polymers with self-avoidance
confined in a narrow 2d box. A statistical model is constructed using blob
free-energy arguments. We find spontaneous segregation under the condition: , and mixing under , where L is the length of the box, and
the polymer extension in an infinite slit. Segregation time scales are
determined by solving a mean first-passage time problem, and by performing
Monte Carlo simulations. Predictions of the two methods show good agreement.
Our results may elucidate a driving force for chromosomes segregation in
bacteria
Diversity of chemistry and excitation conditions in the high-mass star forming complex W33
The object W33 is a giant molecular cloud that contains star forming regions
at various evolutionary stages from quiescent clumps to developed H II regions.
Since its star forming regions are located at the same distance and the primary
material of the birth clouds is probably similar, we conducted a comparative
chemical study to trace the chemical footprint of the different phases of
evolution. We observed six clumps in W33 with the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment
(APEX) telescope at 280 GHz and the Submillimeter Array (SMA) at 230 GHz. We
detected 27 transitions of 10 different molecules in the APEX data and 52
transitions of 16 different molecules in the SMA data. The chemistry on scales
larger than 0.2 pc, which are traced by the APEX data, becomes more
complex and diverse the more evolved the star forming region is. On smaller
scales traced by the SMA data, the chemical complexity and diversity increase
up to the hot core stage. In the H II region phase, the SMA spectra resemble
the spectra of the protostellar phase. Either these more complex molecules are
destroyed or their emission is not compact enough to be detected with the SMA.
Synthetic spectra modelling of the HCO transitions, as detected with the
APEX telescope, shows that both a warm and a cold component are needed to
obtain a good fit to the emission for all sources except for W33 Main1. The
temperatures and column densities of the two components increase during the
evolution of the star forming regions. The integrated intensity ratios
NH(32)/CS(65) and
NH(32)/HCO(43) show clear trends as a
function of evolutionary stage, luminosity, luminosity-to-mass ratio, and
H peak column density of the clumps and might be usable as chemical
clocks.Comment: 66 pages, 28 figures, 8 tables, accepted for publication at A&
