GRB 060206: hints of precession of the central engine?
Aims. The high-redshift (z=4.048) gamma-ray burst GRB 060206 showed unusual behavior, with a significant rebrightening by a factor of ~4 at about 3000 s after the burst. We argue that this rebrightening implies that the central engine became active again after the main burst produced by the first ejecta, then drove another more collimated jet-like ejecta with a larger viewing angle. The two ejecta both interacted with the ambient medium, giving rise to forward shocks that propagated into the ambient medium and reverse shocks that penetrated into the ejecta. The total emission was a combination of the emissions from the reverse- and forward- shocked regions. We discuss how this combined emission accounts for the observed rebrightening.
Methods. We apply numerical models to calculate the light curves from the shocked regions, which include a forward shock originating in the first ejecta and a forward-reverse shock for the second ejecta.
Results. We find evidence that the central engine became active again 2000 s after the main burst. The combined emission produced by interactions of these two ejecta with the ambient medium can describe the properties of the afterglow of this burst. We argue that the rapid rise in brightness at ~3000 s in the afterglow is due to the off-axis emission from the second ejecta. The precession of the torus or accretion disk of the central engine is a natural explanation for the departure of the second ejecta from the line of sight

A low-bandgap dimeric porphyrin molecule for 10% efficiency solar cells with small photon energy loss
Dimeric porphyrin molecules have great potential as donor materials for high performance bulk heterojunction organic solar cells (OSCs). Recently reported dimeric porphyrins bridged by ethynylenes showed power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of more than 8%. In this study, we design and synthesize a new conjugated dimeric D-A porphyrin ZnP2BT-RH, in which the two porphyrin units are linked by an electron accepting benzothiadiazole (BT) unit. The introduction of the BT unit enhances the electron delocalization, resulting in a lower highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy level and an increased molar extinction coefficient in the near-infrared (NIR) region. The bulk heterojunction solar cells with ZnP2BT-RH as the donor material exhibit a high PCE of up to 10% with a low energy loss (Eloss) of only 0.56 eV. The 10% PCE is the highest for porphyrin-based OSCs with a conventional structure, and this Eloss is also the smallest among those reported for small molecule-based OSCs with a PCE higher than 10% to date

We assume that the central engine became active again 2000 s after the main burst and drove another more collimated off-axis jet. The two jets both interacted with the ambient medium and contributed to the whole emission. We numerically fit this optical afterglow from the two jets using the forward-shock model and the forward-reverse shock model. Combining with the zero time effect, we suggest that the fast rise at ~3000 s in the afterglow was due to the off-axis emission from the second jet. The precession of the torus or accretion disk of the gamma ray burst engine is the natural explanation for the symmetry axes of these two jets not to lie on the same line
A Frequency-Reconfigurable Monopole Antenna with Switchable Stubbed Ground Structure
A frequency-reconfigurable coplanar-waveguide (CPW) fed monopole antenna using switchable stubbed ground structure is presented. Four PIN diodes are employed in the stubs stretching from the ground to make the antenna reconfigurable in three operating modes: a single-band mode (2.4-2.9 GHz), a dual-band mode (2.4-2.9 GHz/5.09-5.47 GHz) and a triple-band mode (3.7-4.26 GHz/5.3-6.3 GHz/8.0-8.8 GHz). The monopole antenna is resonating at 2.4 GHz, while the stubs produce other operating frequency bands covering a number of wireless communication systems, including WLAN, WiMAX, C-band, and ITU. Furthermore, an optimized biasing network has been integrated into this antenna, which has little influence on the performance of the antenna. Consequences of 't Hooft's Equivalence Class Theory and Symmetry by Large Coarse Graining
According to 't Hooft (Class.Quantum.Grav. 16 (1999), 3263), quantum gravity
can be postulated as a dissipative deterministic system, where quantum states
at the ``atomic scale''can be understood as equivalence classes of primordial
states governed by a dissipative deterministic dynamics law at the ``Planck
scale''. In this paper, it is shown that for a quantum system to have an
underlying deterministic dissipative dynamics, the time variable should be
discrete if the continuity of its temporal evolution is required. Besides, the
underlying deterministic theory also imposes restrictions on the energy
spectrum of the quantum system. It is also found that quantum symmetry at the
``atomic scale'' can be induced from 't Hooft's Coarse Graining classification

Complex Dynamics of Correlated Electrons in Molecular Double Ionization by an Ultrashort Intense Laser Pulse
With a semiclassical quasi-static model we achieve an insight into the
complex dynamics of two correlated electrons under the combined influence of a
two-center Coulomb potential and an intense laser field. The model calculation
is able to reproduce experimental data of nitrogen molecules for a wide range
of laser intensities from tunnelling to over-the-barrier regime, and predicts a
significant alignment effect on the ratio of double over single ion yield. The
classical trajectory analysis allows to unveil sub-cycle molecular double
