    Factors influencing the adoption of mobile services consumers' preferences using analytic hierarchy process

    The rapid and widespread development of innovations in mobile services is changing societies and improving lives around the world. Due to lagging adoption, many of these new innovations have yet failed to generate revenue that was expected by mobile network operators, application and content developers. There are several factors which are affecting the service adoption by consumers. This paper aims to provide practitioners and academics, an insight on what consumers' preferences are by using an Analytic Hierarchy Approach (AHP). The objective of this paper is to identify factors influencing the adoption of the mobile services. In this study we have considered Payment Mode, Functionality, Added Value and PQCP (perceived quality, cost and performance) as the main service adoption factors. The survey results indicate that Functionality is the most important influencing factor for the respondents, followed by Added Value, PQCP and Payment Mode.Adoption,AHP,Mobile Value Services,Consumer's Preferences

    PRICE VERSUS STOCK EFFECT POLICIES FOR REDUCING EXCESS MILK PRODUCTION

    This article presents a comparative dynamic analysis of the market impact of alternative U.S. policies designed to reduce excess capacity in milk production. Two policy options are examined based on an econometric model of the dairy industry and a dynamic simulation of the system. The stock effect policy relies on voluntary reductions in cow numbers to reduce milk supplies, while the price effect policy makes use of reductions in the support price levels to achieve the same goal. The simulation results are used to evaluate equilibrium prices and quantities for the farm and retail markets, government costs, and consumer and producer surpluses from 1986 to 1995 for each policy alternative.     Fluctuation-dissipation theorem for thermo-refractive noise

    We introduce a simple prescription for calculating the spectra of thermal fluctuations of temperature-dependent quantities of the form δT^(t)=d3rδT(r,t)q(r)\hat{\delta T}(t)=\int d^3\vec{r} \delta T(\vec{r},t) q(\vec{r}). Here T(r,t)T(\vec{r}, t) is the local temperature at location r\vec{r} and time tt, and q(r)q(\vec{r}) is an arbitrary function. As an example of a possible application, we compute the spectrum of thermo-refractive coating noise in LIGO, and find a complete agreement with the previous calculation of Braginsky, Gorodetsky and Vyatchanin. Our method has computational advantage, especially for non-regular or non-symmetric geometries, and for the cases where q(r)q(\vec{r}) is non-negligible in a significant fraction of the total volume.Comment: 3 page

    Identifying Significant Characteristics of Organic Milk Consumers: A CART Analysis of an Artefactual Field Experiment

    The organic dairy category is one the fastest growing categories of organic production in the U.S. Organic milk consumers generally cite perceived health benefits and lower risk of food contamination, as well as perceived superior quality and low environmental impact of organic farming methods, as the major motivations for preference of organic over conventional milk. While the properties of organic milk that are valued by consumers are fairly well-known, there is more ambiguity regarding the demographic characteristics of the typical organic milk consumer. This research makes use of experimental data and utilizes a relatively novel non-parametric modeling approach, the CART analysis, in identifying how willingness to pay for organic milk varies with the demographic profile of experiment participants. A more traditional econometric approach utilizing a Tobit regression is also performed to compare the results of the two models. The study finds that perceived taste of organic milk and concern for the risk of consuming conventional milk are major factors that separate experiment participants into groups with high and low WTP for organic milk.Consumer/Household Economics,

    Correlations between the mechanical loss and atomic structure of amorphous TiO2-doped Ta2O5 coatings

    <p>Highly reflective dielectric mirror coatings are critical components in a range of precision optics applications including frequency combs, optical atomic clocks, precision interferometry and ring laser gyroscopes. A key limitation to the performance in these applications is thermal noise, arising from the mechanical loss of the coatings. The origins of the mechanical loss from these coatings is not well understood.</p> <p>Recent work suggests that the mechanical loss of amorphous Ta2O5 coatings can drop by as much as 40% when it is doped with TiO2. We use a combination of electron diffraction data and atomic modelling using molecular dynamics to probe the atomic structure of these coatings, and examine the correlations between changes in the atomic structure and changes in the mechanical loss of these coatings. Our results show the first correlation between changes in the mechanical loss and experimentally measured changes in the atomic structure resulting from variations in the level of TiO2 doping in TiO2-doped Ta2O5 coatings, in that increased homogeneity at the nearest-neighbour level appears to correlate with reduced mechanical loss. It is demonstrated that subtle but measurable changes in the nearest-neighbour homogeneity in an amorphous material can correlate with significant changes in macroscopic properties.</p&gt

    The market impacts of generic dairy advertising are assessed using an industry model which encompasses supply and demand conditions at the retail, wholesale, and farm levels, and government intervention under the dairy price support program. The estimated model is used to simulate price and quantity values for four advertising scenarios: (1) no advertising, (2) historical fluid advertising, (3) historical manufactured advertising, and (4) historical fluid and manufactured advertising.     An econometric framework for estimating a two-regime dairy structural system is presented. Failure to account for switching between regimes due to government price intervention raises the problem of selectivity bias. Further, since a structural system of equations is involved, the problem is not limited to the market associated with the intervention. Rather, bias from a single source can distort all equations in the system.
