Nonlinear stability of the Taub-NUT soliton in 6+1 dimensions
Using mixed numerical and analytical methods we give evidence that the 6+1
dimensional Taub-NUT soliton is asymptotically nonlinearly stable against small
perturbations preserving biaxial Bianchi IX symmetry. We also show that for
sufficiently strong perturbations the soliton collapses to a warped black hole.
Since this black hole solution is not known in closed form, for completeness of
the exposition we prove its existence and determine its properties. In
particular, the mass of the black hole is computed.Comment: 19 pages, 5 figure
Identification of the ns and nd Rydberg states of O2 for n=3–5
The 4s‐3d and 5s‐4dRydberg complexes of diatomic oxygen have been studied by (2+1) resonance‐enhanced multiphoton ionization of the X 3∑ g − ground state of O2. We have located and identified at least two vibrational levels of each of the following states: Three of four expected 4sσ Π states; all four expected 5sσ Π states; 18 of 22 expected 3d states (with only the states of the 3dσ orbital remaining unobserved); and 5 of the 10 predicted 4dπ states. State assignments were assisted by the following: the results of rotational cooling and laser polarization experiments which facilitated the rotational analysis, band positions, band intensities, and parameterized calculations. The experimentally determined state locations are compared with the state locations obtained from ab initio calculations. We have carried out isotope experiments and rotational linewidth analysis to study in some detail the mixing between the Rydberg states and the repulsive valence states as well as the mixing between the Rydberg states themselves. We conclude that direct predissociation dominates indirect predissociation as a dissociative mechanism, but there is evidence of Δv≠0 interactions which perturb the rotational structure of the 3dπ∑ and Δ states. The relative intensities of the states detected are found to span a range in excess of 104 with the nsσ Π states being the weakest and the ndπ ∑ states being the strongest. Photoionization of the ndπ ∑ states appears to be most affected by the shape resonance in the continuum. Our measurements confirm the expectation that many of the properties of the Rydberg states in the same series scale as (n*)−3
Prevalence and trends of overweight and obesity in older adults from 10 European countries from 2005 to 2013
Overweight and obesity are clinical public health concerns worldwide. Among older adults, the prevalence of overweight and obesity is considered high. The purpose of this study was to provide current data regarding the
prevalence and trends of overweight and obesity of adults, from 2005 to 2013, in 10 European countries. Methods: The data used in the present study was derived from the first, second, fourth and fifth waves of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). The present study includes individuals aged ≥ 50 years from 10 European countries. Body mass index (BMI) was calculated from self reported height and weight (kg/m2). Results: More than half of the participants were overweight or obese (BMI≥25). Between 2005 and 2013 the general prevalence of overweight (BMI≥25 kg/m2) was slightly above 60%. The prevalence of overweight or obesity was relatively stable between 2005 (60.1%, 95% CI: 59.3%, 60.9%) and 2013 (60.3%, 95% CI: 59.7%, 60.9%). Obesity (BMI≥30) prevalence increased significantly (1.6%, 95% CI: 0.7%, 2.6%), from 17.5% in 2005 to 19.2% in 2013. In
most countries there is an increase of the prevalence of obesity, but the only significant increase was observed in Germany (5.8%, 95% CI: 1.8%, 9.9%). In Spain the prevalence of obesity decreased significantly between 2005 and 2013 (-4.7%, 95% CI: -8.8%, -0.5%). Conclusion: This study findings indicate that the prevalence of overweight among elderly Europeans is relatively stable, but the number of obese people is rising.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
Identification of the nd Δ and Σ States and the 1,3Φ←←X 3Σ− g Transition of O2 by Resonant Multiphoton Ionization
Spectra of the 3dRydberg state region of O2 have been obtained by two‐photon resonant ionization of the ground electronic state. By varying the rotational distribution and radiation polarization, all observed bands were identified and attributed to excitation of Σ, Δ, and Φ states. Earlier assignments were corrected. The Δ and Φ assignments are complete while the Σ assignments are so far incomplete
Continuum Extrapolation of Moments of Nucleon Quark Distributions in Full QCD
Moments of light cone quark density, helicity, and transversity distributions are calculated in unquenched lattice QCD at and using Wilson fermions on lattices. These results are combined with earlier calculations at using SESAM configurations to study the continuum limit
Epidemiology of physical activity in adult Polish population in the second decade of the 21st century. Results of the NATPOL 2011 study
Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess physical activity (PA) level in a representative sample of Polish adults.Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional analysis was performed among 2413 randomly selected individuals (51.5% women) aged 18-79 years, who participated in the Nationwide Study of Occurrence of Risk Factors of Cardiovascular Diseases NATPOL 2011 (March-July 2011). The study procedures consisted of a questionnaire as well as of anthropometric, blood pressure and biochemical measurements. Leisure-time, occupational and commuting PA were assessed by the use of a questionnaire interview. Results: About 48.2% of adults do exercise for at least 30 minutes on most days of a week. About 11% of the respondents declare a sedentary lifestyle. About 26.5% of working population report hard physical work, while sedentary work is reported by 47.6% of the employed participants. Active commuting is declared by 27.3% of working/studying population. About 47.2%, 36.6%, and 15.3% spend 30 min per day, respectively, on this kind of PA. Conclusions: PA level of more than half of Polish adults is still not satisfactory. Promotion of an active lifestyle should concern mainly leisure-time and commuting PA with paying special attention to substantial differences in various socio-demographic groups
Protein intake among healthy adults undertaking regular muscle strength training
Background: Protein is a basic macronutrient supplied to the body via food intake and one of the key dietary elements of physically-active populations.
Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to analyze the protein intake of healthy adults undertaking regular muscle strength training.
Material and methods: This study was conducted on 168 healthy adults: 84 women (25.9±6.1 years) and 84 men (25.5±5.4 years) performing strength training on a regular basis (~4 times a week). Protein intake was determined using a structured questionnaire to quantify the amount, source, and frequency of protein consumed.
Results: The participants declared an average daily protein intake of 153.8±50.2 g, with women reporting lower intake (115.9±28.3 g) than men (184.8±42.2 g) (p 0.05). The amount of protein supplied by supplementation was, on average, 37.3±21.5 g with a lesser amount reported by women (28.6±13.2 g) than men (45.5±24.5 g) (p<0.001). 62.9% of participants consumed supplements in the form of whey protein concentrate and 42.6% took protein supplements immediately after training.
Conclusions: The study participants consumed an excess amount of protein in comparison to the recommended daily intake. Protein supplementation accounted for a ¼ of daily protein intake, most often consumed immediately after training and generally in the form of whey protein concentrate. Nutritional education is necessary to align the eating habits and supplemental intake of physically active adults, relative to strength-training demands

Wytwarzanie i charakterystyka elastomerów uretanowo-mocznikowych z poliolu na bazie oleju rzepakowego. Cz. I. Struktura i właściwości
Poly(urea-urethane)s (PUUR), wherein the polyol substrates of petrochemical origin, partly replaced by vegetable polyols, were synthesized. Various contents of polyols derived from rapeseed oil – from 0 to 50wt% were used. In order to determine the chemical structure of the obtained samples, they were examined using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Physicochemical and mechanical properties were determined using, among others, methods of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), as well as the tribological tests were performed. Studies have shown that new material obtained using the highest content of the polyol of vegetable origin (50 wt%) was characterized by the best storage modulus and friction coefficient. This material can be applied where low abrasive wear and volume resistivity is required.W ramach pracy zsyntetyzowano poliuretanomoczniki (PUUR), w których substraty poliolowe pochodzenia petrochemicznego zastępowano częściowo poliolami pochodzenia roślinnego. Zastosowano różne zawartości polioli pochodzących z oleju rzepakowego – od 0 do 50% mas. substratów poliolowych. Metodą spektroskopii w podczerwieni z transformacją Fouriera (FT-IR) określono strukturę chemiczną otrzymanych próbek PUUR. Właściwości fizykochemiczne i mechaniczne określano, odpowiednio, metodą różnicowej kalorymetrii skaningowej (DSC) i dynamicznej analizy mechanicznej (DMA).
