RECEIVING INFLUENCE FROM CHINESE LITERATURE IN THE COMPOSITION OF TRUYEN KY MAN LUC (CASUAL RECORDS OF TRANSMITTED STRANGE TALES) BY NGUYEN DU (VIETNAM) AND THE VALUE OF THE WORK

    Get PDF
Truyen Ky Man Luc (Casual Records of Transmitted Strange Tales) by Nguyen Du, born in the 16th century, is considered an ancient fairy tale of Vietnamese medieval literature. The work laid the foundation for the birth and flourishing of the folktale genre in Vietnam. Understanding the source factors affecting the creation of works and explaining why Truyen Ky Man Luc is so appreciated in Vietnamese literature is a matter of theoretical and practical significance. In particular, our research would like to introduce to international scholars one of the classic works of the Vietnamese people in comparison with Chinese literature, which is a useful document for in-depth research on ancient literature of Vietnam in particular and ancient literature of East Asian countries in general.  Article visualizations

Context-driven Policies Enforcement for Edge-based IoT Data Sharing-as-a-Service

    Get PDF
Sharing real-time data originating from connected devices is crucial to real-world intelligent Internet of Things (IoT) applications, i.e., based on artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML). Such IoT data sharing involves multiple parties for different purposes and is usually based on data contracts that might depend on the dynamic change of IoT data variety and velocity. It is still an open challenge to support multiple parties (aka tenants) with these dynamic contracts based on the data value for their specific contextual purposes. This work addresses these challenges by introducing a novel dynamic context-based policy enforcement framework to support IoT data sharing (on-Edge) based on dynamic contracts. Our enforcement framework allows IoT Data Hub owners to define extensible rules and metrics to govern the tenants in accessing the shared data on the Edge based on policies defined with static and dynamic contexts. We have developed a proof-of-concept prototype for sharing sensitive data such as surveillance camera videos to illustrate our proposed framework. The experimental results demonstrated that our framework could soundly and timely enforce context-based policies at runtime with moderate overhead. Moreover, the context and policy changes are correctly reflected in the system in nearly real-time.acceptedVersio

UNDERSTANDING THE STATUS AND CHALLENGES OF MANGROVE CONSERVATION IN CENTRAL VIETNAM: CASE STUDY IN DUY XUYEN DISTRICT, QUANG NAM PROVINCE

Abstract: While mangrove forests support large surrounding populations and diverse economic activities, mangrove areas in Central Vietnam are decreasing. This study, thereforce, aims to understand the current status and threats facing mangrove conservation and development. A survey of 52 respondents was conducted in Duy Xuyen district, the largest area of mangrove forests of Quang Nam province. The results show that 17 mangrove species belong to 11 families, in which 8 significant species and 9 minor species were found in this site. The distribution of species was uneven with dominated by Nipah palms (Nypafruticans Wurmb). Although the mangrove species had several useful functions including protection against wind, wave break and serving tourism development, mangrove areas have been decreasing from 26.39ha to 18.22ha during period of 1999-2018. In which, 67.3% of respondents argued that the conversion of mangroves to aquaculture is one of the main causes of mangrove loss. The study also provided some suggestions related to a long-term development strategy for both government and local community, especially who are directly involving in the mangrove for their livelihoods. Keywords: Central Vietnam, development strategy, mangrove forests, livelihood

Evaluation of the Role of Hydroxyapatite in TiO2/ Hydroxyapatite Photocatalytic Materials

    Get PDF
The TiO2/hydroxyapatite (HAp) composite has attracted much attention as a photocatalyst for pollution treatment in water or air because this composite can improve the properties of pure TiO2 including a low efficiency, narrow light response range, low adsorption capacity for hydrophobic contaminants, and difficult recovery of TiO2 particles after using in Aquarius environment. To obtain the best composite containing the two components including TiO2 and HAp, the role of HAp in TiO2/hydroxyapatite photocatalytic material should be analyzed and evaluated. This chapter will significantly present a review of the role of HAp in the TiO2/hydroxyapatite composite including the adsorption ability of contaminations and the promoted impacts of HAp component

    Knowledge representations for sensemaking

Thesis: M. Eng., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 2012.Cataloged from PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (page 54).I discuss the lessons learned during the design and implementation of three knowledge representations systems for sensemaking. The focus is on the tension that exists between a knowledge representation's role as a surrogate for the world and its role as a facilitator of computational reasoning. Each system accepts natural language inputs and implements a bidirectional model of sensemaking. One system emphasizes inference while the other two systems emphasize their role as a representation for the world. I discuss the differences between these systems and what gives rise to these differences.by Hong-Linh Q. Nguyen.M. Eng

Analysis of the effect of spray mode on coating porosity and hardness when spraying press screws by the high velocity oxy fuel method

    Get PDF
Porosity and coating hardness are two very important properties of the coating. In order to achieve low coating porosity and high hardness, a suitable spray mode is desired. In the particular application for press screws with the complex surface, a suitable spray mode plays a significant role in the formation of the coating properties. This paper employs the Taguchi experimental design method combined with ANOVA analysis to evaluate the impact of the spray mode on the porosity and hardness of the coating while spraying the screw surface using the High Velocity Oxy Fuel (HVOF) method. The injection material used is WC HMSP1060-00 +60 % 4070, with its main components being Nickel and Carbide Wolfram. And the press screw material is 1045 steel. The impactful parameters of the spray mode investigated and tested are the flow rate of spray (F) with a range varying from 25 g/min to 35 g/min, spray distance (D) with a range of values varying from 0.25 m to 0.35 m, and an oxygen/propane ratio (R) from 4 to 6. The analysis shows that the spray mode significantly affects the coating properties, and a suitable set of spray parameters is found to achieve low coating porosity and high coating hardness. The spray mode with the lowest porosity is achieved at a spray rate (F) of 35 g/min, a spray distance (D) of 0.3 m, and an oxygen/propane ratio (R) of 6. The interactions between D and R, as well as between F and D, are statistically significant, influencing each other's effects on porosity. However, the interaction between F and R is relatively low, indicating that changes in one parameter have less impact on porosity when the other parameter is varied. Similarly, for the highest coating hardness, the optimal spray mode includes an F of 35 g/min, D of 0.25 m, and R of 6. There is a significant interaction between F and D, while the interaction between F and R is relatively low. Notably, there is no interaction between F and

Do Technical Barriers to Trade Measures Affect Vietnam’s Tea Exports? Evidence from the Gravity Model

    Get PDF
This paper explores how technical barriers to trade (TBT) affect Vietnam’s tea exports to 55 importing countries from 2001 to 2019. We use the gravity model with different estimation methods: ordinary least square (OLS), fixed-effect (FE), and random effect (RE) to estimate the impact of TBT on Vietnam’s tea exports. The results show that although GDP, population, distance, tariff, and participation in World Trade Organization (WTO) are crucial factors, the TBT measures imposed by these importing countries have significantly negative impacts on Vietnam’s tea exports. Our findings reveal that while a 1% increase in the cumulative TBT measures imposed by developing countries decreases Vietnam's tea export by 0.341%, the figure for developed countries is 1.308%
