[[abstract]]Financial constraints necessitate the tradeoff among proposed railroad projects, so that the project priorities for implementation and budget allocation need to be determined by the ranking mechanisms in the government. At present, the Taiwan central government prioritizes funding allocations primarily using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), a methodology that permits the synthesizing of subjective judgments systematically and logically into objective consensus. However, due to the coopetition and heterogeneity of railway projects, the proper priorities of railroad projects could not be always evaluated by the AHP. The decision makers prefer subjective judgments to referring to the AHP evaluation re- sults. This circumstance not only decreased the AHP advantages, but also raised the risk of the policies. A method to con- sider both objective measures and subjective judgments of project attributes can help reduce this problem. Accordingly, combining the AHP with the artificial neural network (ANN) methodologies would theoretically be a proper solution to bring a ranking predication model by creating the obscure relations between objective measures by the AHP and subjec- tive judgments. However, the inconsistency between the AHP evaluation and subjective judgments resulted in the inferior soundness of the AHP/ANN ranking forecast model. To overcome this problem, this study proposes the data prepro- cessing method (DPM) to calculate the correlation coefficient value using the subjective and objective ranking incidence matrixes; according to the correlation coefficient value, the consistency between the AHP rankings and subjective judg- ments of railroad projects can be evaluated and improved, so that the forecast accuracy of the AHP/ANN ranking forecast model can also be enhanced. Based on this concept, a practical railroad project ranking experience derived from the Insti- tute of Transportation of Taiwan is illustrated in this paper to reveal the feasibility of applying the DPM to the AHP/ANN ranking prediction model.[[notice]]補正完畢[[journaltype]]國外[[incitationindex]]SCI[[ispeerreviewed]]Y[[booktype]]電子版[[countrycodes]]LT

Position Control of a Serial Manipulator Using Fuzzy-PID Controllers

Get PDF
This paper presents the position control of a six-axis serial manipulator by using a fuzzy-PID controller. The manipulator has six joints, and each joint is driven by a motor with an encoder for sensing the joint angle. To complete a position movement of the end-effector of the manipulator, the position coordinate first needs to be converted to a sets of joint angles by using the inverse kinematics of the manipulator, and each joint rotation is executed by a feedback control of a motor. To demonstrate the performance the fuzzy-PID controller, a PID controller and two fuzzy controllers are also applied. The results show that the fuzzy-PID controller provides a better performance with a smaller steady-state error

AbstractParaquat (methyl viologen, PQ) is a widely used herbicide that produces oxygen-derived free radicals and severely injures human lungs. In this study we examined the effects of PQ on the protein kinase C (PKC), ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) and c-jun oncogene expression in WI-38 human lung cells. Exposure of cells to 25–200 μM PQ resulted in an increase of [3H]phorbol dibutyrate (PDBu) binding and PKC redistribution in a dose-dependent manner. Interestingly, a superoxide dismutase mimic, 4-hydroxyl-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (Tempol, 2.5 mM) and catalase (400 μg/ml) could significantly reduce the PQ-stimulated increase of phorbol ester binding and particular PKC phosphorylatiog activity, but dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO, 1.5%), an effective ·OH trapping agent, failed to prevent this stimulation. In addition, an endogenous substrate of PKC, 80 kDa protein, was found to be highly phosphorylated in intact WI-38 cells treated with 50 AM PQ. The increase of phosphorylated proteins could be completely or partly abolished by Tempol or catalase, but only the phosphorylation of 80 kDa protein was diminished by protein kinase C inhibitor, 1-(5-isoquinolinyl-sulfonyl)-2-methylpiperazine (H-7). A maximal peak of ODC activity was observed at 6 h of treatment with 50 μM PQ. PQ induced activity was reduced at the following rates, Tempol 85%, DMSO 80% and catalase 45%, but H-7 failed to do so. Furthermore, we found that the level of c-jun mRNA was transiently increased by PQ and the peak appeared at 1 h of treatment. When correlated with the PKC result, Tempol, catalase and H-7 all effectively blocked PQ-elicited c-jun transcript expression, but DMSO only exhibited a weakly inhibitory effect. We therefore propose that superoxide anion (O2− and H2O2 generated by PQ could activate PKC and lead to induction of c-jun gene expression; on the other hand, O2− and ·OH might trigger other kinase pathways to elevate ODC activity. Finally, the sequential expression of c-jun oncogene, and ODC may cooperate to relieve the oxidative damages elicited by PQ

Application of 2,3-Naphthalenediamine in Labeling Natural Carbohydrates for Capillary Electrophoresis

Neutral and acidic monosaccharide components in Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide are readily labeled with 2,3-naphthalenediamine, and the resulting saccharide-naphthimidazole (NAIM) derivatives are quantified by capillary electrophoresis (CE) in borate buffer. Using sulfated-α-cyclodextrin as the chiral selector, enantiomers of monosaccharide-NAIMs are resolved on CE in phosphate buffer, allowing a simultaneous determination of the absolute configuration and sugar composition in the mucilage polysaccharide of a medicinal herb Dendrobium huoshanense. Together with the specific enzymatic reactions of various glycoside hydrolases on the NAIM derivatives of glycans, the structures of natural glycans can be deduced from the digestion products identified by CE analysis. Though heparin dissachrides could be successfully derived with the NAIM-labeling method, the heparin derivatives with the same degree of sulfation could not be separated by CE

Lenses are used to mount on the light-emitting diode (LED) chip to obtain the desired light distribution patterns. In this study, a lens for large viewing angle and high uniformity LED has been developed with optical grade poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) material. TracePro software was used to design the lens while Moldex 3D software was implemented to design the mould and the mould filling phenomena. Together with micromoulding technology and Taguchi experimental method with control parameters were mould temperature (MoT), melt temperature (MT), and injection speed, a lens with optical uniformity of 87.18% and viewing angle of 128° has been developed. The experimental results showed that MoT and MT were the main factors affecting the optical quality, each with contributions greater than 50 and 30%, respectively. Though this lens is relatively small in dimension, a draft angle is needed for successful removal of the moulded PMMA lens from the mould

SummaryObjectiveBurkitt's lymphoma (BL) occurs mostly in children; bilateral ovarian involvement mimicking a gynecologic malignancy in adults is extremely rare. Here, we report a patient with BL mimicking a gynecologic tumorCase ReportA 50-year-old Taiwanese woman presented with the complaint of persistent lower abdominal distension with dull pain, easy satiety, and progressively increasing abdominal girth for 2 weeks. Amenorrhea was also noted for about 2 months, and her review of systems was negative for the common “B” symptoms associated with lymphoma. At our hospital, imaging studies revealed a huge pelvic mass (10.8 ×8.7 cm), suggesting a large subserous myoma or an ovarian tumor. Under the impression of pelvic mass, she underwent exploratory laparotomy. Primary ovarian sex-cord malignancy with cecum involvement was impressed by the primitive intraoperative frozen section report. Subsequently, an optimal cytoreductive operation with right hemicolectomy was performed. However, final histopathologic report was an extranodal multifocal BL.ConclusionAlthough extranodal BL in ovaries is a rare condition, it should be noted in the differential diagnosis of pelvic gynecologic malignancies
