The Apology Strategies Used by the Workers to the Old and Young Bosses

This study is aimed to reveal the type of apology strategies used by the workers to the old and young bosses. There were five workers and two bosses, old and young bosses, taken for the subjects. Finally, the research came up with the result that the way of the workers apologizing might influenced by the age of the bosses as interlocutor which made the workers produce apology utterances in different ways of apology to the old and young bosses

Blind Detection and Compensation of Camera Lens Geometric Distortions

This paper presents a blind detection and compensation technique for camera lens geometric distortions. The lens distortion introduces higher-order correlations in the frequency domain and in turn it can be detected using higher-order spectral analysis tools without assuming any specific calibration target. The existing blind lens distortion removal method only considered a single-coefficient radial distortion model. In this paper, two coefficients are considered to model approximately the geometric distortion. All the models considered have analytical closed-form inverse formulae.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, 2 table

Hydrothermal Mineralization in Jailolo Waters, West Halmahera, North Maluku Province

Halmahera Island tectonically is divided into two main regimes, those are East Arm Regime (EAR) and West Arm Regime (WAR). Both regimes have very different characteristics where the EAR consists of Cretaceous ultramafic rocks and old red shale, while the WAR composed of Neogene sediment. The study area is an area with active tectonism shown by recent seismic activities and volcanic eruptions. Hydrothermal activity is indicated by rocks alteration of andesite, dacite, and diorite such as kaolinite, argilic and montmorilonite. Primary metal type mineralization occured in a strong altered volcanic rocks, while the secondary mineralization occured in the sedimentary placer. AAS, petrographic analysis, and mineralografi obtained mineral pyrite, manganese, chalcopyrite in rocks from coastal and marine offshore up to depth of 100 meters. Analysis of the 36 examples of seabed sediments, showed the presence of anomalous metal minerals of Au, Cu, Mn, and Fe those are content of Au 0.01 - 0.03 ppm; Cu 14-150 ppm; Mn 23-1050 ppm; and Fe 2-10%.Keywords: Jailolo waters, western arm regime (WAR), andesite, dacite and diorite intrusion rocks, mineralization of Au, Cu, Mn, and Fe.

STS Marker Associated with Iron Toxicity Tolerance in Rice

Iron (Fe) toxicity is one of the limiting factors for rice growth and production in paddy fields. The use of iron tolerant varieties is one of the most efficient way to solve this problems. Identification of molecular markers linked to the trait is very important to develop marker-assisted selection (MAS) to obtain tolerant lines. The objective of this study was to identify sequence tagged sites (STS) markers associated with iron tolerance trait in double haploid rice population. Forty-five double haploid lines derived from reciprocal double crossing, i.e. IR54/Parekaligolara//Bio110/ Markuti, were phenotypically screened in high Fe wetland rice field at Taman Bogo Experimental Station, Lampung. Molecular analysis performed using STS markers. The results of the association between the genetic and phenotypic analysis showed that there were three markers, i.e. OsIRT1, OsIRT2, and OsFRO2, associated with iron tolerance trait in rice. The markers have potential as selection markers for iron toxicity tolerant lines

The research to determine the bioactivity of the root bark of Rhizophoraapiculata extract on the inhibition of the growth of colonies of bacteria Streptococcussp was carried out. Roots of Rhizophora apiculata bark extract is obtained byextraction by maceration and liquid-liquid partition using solvents methanol and thesolvent of n-hexane, chloroform, and ethyl acetate, respectively. Bioactivity testingagainst bacterial colony growth of Streptococcus sp. performed using the agar diffusionmethod on media nutrient agar. The results showed that extracts of n-hexane,chloroform extract and ethyl acetate extract of the root bark of Rhizophora apiculatawere impregnated on paper discs can form a clear zone around it. This indicates that theroots of Rhizophora apiculata bark extract could inhibit the growth of colonies ofbacteria Streptococcus sp. Greatest inhibition zone diameter derived from the ethylacetate fraction of 2.90 mm, followed by a 1:03 mm from the chloroform fraction, andby 0:47 mm fraction of n-hexane
