Backward stochastic dynamics on a filtered probability space

We demonstrate that backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE) may be reformulated as ordinary functional differential equations on certain path spaces. In this framework, neither It\^{o}'s integrals nor martingale representation formulate are needed. This approach provides new tools for the study of BSDE, and is particularly useful for the study of BSDE with partial information. The approach allows us to study the following type of backward stochastic differential equations: $$dY_t^j=-f_0^j(t,Y_t,L(M)_t) dt-\sum_{i=1}^df_i^j(t,Y_t), dB_t^i+dM_t^j$$ with $Y_T=\xi$, on a general filtered probability space $(\Omega,\mathcal{F},\mathcal{F}_t,P)$, where $B$ is a $d$-dimensional Brownian motion, $L$ is a prescribed (nonlinear) mapping which sends a square-integrable $M$ to an adapted process $L(M)$ and $M$, a correction term, is a square-integrable martingale to be determined. Under certain technical conditions, we prove that the system admits a unique solution $(Y,M)$. Impurity Energy Level Within The Haldane Gap

An impurity bond $J{'}$ in a periodic 1D antiferromagnetic, spin 1 chain with exchange $J$ is considered. Using the numerical density matrix renormalization group method, we find an impurity energy level in the Haldane gap, corresponding to a bound state near the impurity bond. When $J{'}<J$ the level changes gradually from the edge of the Haldane gap to the ground state energy as the deviation $dev=(J-J{'})/J$ changes from 0 to 1. It seems that there is no threshold. Yet, there is a threshold when $J{'}>J$. The impurity level appears only when the deviation $dev=(J{'}-J)/J{'}$ is greater than $B_{c}$, which is near 0.3 in our calculation.Comment: Latex file,9 pages uuencoded compressed postscript including 4 figure

Center of Twisted Graded Hecke Algebras for Homocyclic Groups

We determine explicitly the center of the twisted graded Hecke algebras associated to homocyclic groups. Our results are a generalization of formulas by M. Douglas and B. Fiol in [J. High Energy Phys. 2005 (2005), no. 9, 053, 22 pages, hep-th/9903031]
