    Antiviral activity of Dianthus superbusn L. against hepatitis B virus in vitro and in vivo

    Background: Hepatitis is a viral infection of hepatitis B virus (HBV). Limitations of drug used in the management of it opens the interest related to alternative medicine. The given study deals with the antiviral activity of Dianthus superbusn L. (DSL) against HBV in vitro & in vivo.Material and Methods: In vitro study liver cell line HepG2.2.15 was used by transinfected it with HBV. Cytotoxicity stduy was performed by using different concentrations of DSL such as 50, 100, 200, 500 & 1000 μg/ml. Anti HBV activity of DSL was estimated by assesing the concentration of HBsAg and HbeAg in cell culture medium by using ELISA. Whereas in vivo study was performed on ducklings and antiviral activity of DSL (100, 200, 400 mg/kg) was confirmed by estimating the serum concentration of HBV DNA and histopathology study of hepatocytes in HBV infected ducklings.Result: Result of the study suggested that >500 μg/ml concentration of hydroalcoholic extract of DSL was found tobe cytotoxic. It was also observed that DSL significantly (p<0.05) reduces the concentration of antigenes in cell culture media as per the concentration and days of treatment dependent. Moreover in vivo study confirms the anti viral activity of DSL (200 & 400 mg/kg) as it significantly (p<0.05) decreases the serum concenetration of HBV DNA in HBV infected dukling compared to control group. Histopathology study was also reveals the hepatprotective effect of DSL in HBV infected ducklings.Conclusion: The given study concludes the antiviral activity DSL against HBV by in vitro and in vivo models.Keywords: Dianthus superbusn L., Hepatitis B virus, HepG2.2.15, HBsAg and HbeA

    Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly prevalent and lethal cancer worldwide; despite the curative treatment for HCC, the rate of tumor recurrence after hepatectomy remains high. Tumor recurrence can occur early (<2 years) or late (>2 years) as metastases or de novo tumors. Several tumor factors were associated with HCC recurrence; high hepatitis B virus (HBV) load is the major risk factor for late recurrence of HCC after resection. Preoperative antiviral therapy improves liver function, and postoperative reduce HCC recurrence. In this paper, we focus on antiviral treatment to improve the liver function, prevent recurrence, and lengthen the overall survival for HBV-related HCC

    Prokineticin 2 Is a Target Gene of Proneural Basic Helix-Loop-Helix Factors for Olfactory Bulb Neurogenesis

    Prokineticin 2, a cysteine-rich secreted protein, regulates diverse biological functions including the neurogenesis of olfactory bulb. Here we show that the PK2 gene is a functional target gene of proneural basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) factors. Neurogenin 1 and MASH1 activate PK2 transcription by binding to E-box motifs on the PK2 promoter with the same set of E-boxes critical for another pair of bHLH factors, CLOCK and BMAL1, in the regulation of circadian clock. Our results establish PK2 as a common functional target gene for different bHLH transcriptional factors in mediating their respective functions

    Improving Strength and Microstructure of SiC Reticulated Porous Ceramic through In-Situ Generation of SiC Whiskers within Hollow Voids

    SiC Reticulated Porous Ceramic with Excellent Strength and High-Density Ceramic Struts Was Successfully Prepared using the Polymer Replica Method, Followed by Pressureless Sintering under a Buried Charcoal Atmosphere. First, a Polyurethane (PU) Template Was Coated with a Si Slurry and Then a SiC-Containing Slurry, and Subsequently Heated under the Buried Charcoal Atmosphere. to Ensure Excellent Coating Ability of the Slurries, the Viscosity, Thixotropy, and Yield Stresses of the Si Slurry Were Optimized by Adjusting the Content of the Thickening Agent. during Heating, Si in the Coating Layer Reacted with the Residual C and CO Gas from the PU Template and Buried Charcoal, Forming SiC Whiskers that Filled Hollow Voids within the SiC Struts. Additionally, Catalyst Ferric Nitrate Was Added to the Si Slurry to Promote the Generation and Growth of SiC Whiskers. as a Result, When Compared to the Untreated SiC Reticulated Porous Ceramic, the SiC Reticulated Porous Ceramic Pre-Coated with Si Layers Exhibited Significant Improvements in Mechanical Strength and Thermal Shock Resistance, Despite Minor Differences in Porosity. Furthermore, an Industrial Test Conducted in the Copper Smelting Industry Showed that the Structure of SiC Reticulated Porous Ceramic, Prepared in This Study and Used as Filters, Remained Intact Even after 7 Days of Continuous Use. Meanwhile, a Significant Number of Inclusions Was Adhered to the Surfaces of the Filters. Therefore, the Processes Combined with In-Situ Generation of SiC Whiskers is an Ideal and Low-Cost Method for Fabricating SiC Filters with Excellent Properties
