Nerve growth factor(NGF)is one of the most important active protein acting on the nervous system, it is applicated widely in ophthalmology, the administration route includes systemic drug administration and local drug administration. Compared to systemic drug administration, local drug administration is targeted, it is more effective to achieve the necessary concentration in eyes and it reduces the risk of side effects. Local drug administration has been a common treatment method in eye diseases. With the development of administration route, corresponding pharmacokinetic researches have received the concern. This review provides a reference for the study on ophthalmological administration routes and pharmacokinetics of nerve growth factor

Purpose: To study the efficacy of glucocorticoid combined with hyperbaric oxygen therapy for the treatment of delayed encephalopathy after carbon monoxide poisoning (DEACMP), and its effect on the expression of immune-associated cytokines. Methods: A total of 102 DEACMP patients in PLA General Hospital, Haidian, China were divided into two groups of 51 patients each, namely, observation group (glucocorticoid + hyperbaric oxygen therapy), and control group (hyperbaric oxygen only). The clinical data for each group was retrospectively analyzed. Clinical efficacy, improvement time, hospitalization time, cognitive function, activities associated with daily living, changes in immunity-associated cytokines, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared for the two groups. Results: Following treatment, the time taken for improvement, duration of hospitalization, cognitive function, daily living activity and total effectiveness in the observation group were significantly higher than those for the control group (p < 0.05). In addition, the levels of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF- β1), interleukin 4 (IL-4) and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) in the observation group were significantly greater than for the corresponding control group levels (p <0.05). There was no significant difference in incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (p > 0.05).Conclusion: These results suggest that a combination therapy of glucocorticoid and hyperbaric oxygen therapy for the treatment of DEACMP is more eutherapeutic in the improvement of cognitive function and activities of daily living in DEACMP patients than hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The mechanism of this combination therapy may be related to the improvement in immunity-related cytokine levels. Keywords: Glucocorticoid, Hyperbaric oxygen, Delayed encephalopathy after carbon monoxide poisoning, Efficacy, Immunit

LSDP5 Enhances Triglyceride Storage in Hepatocytes by Influencing Lipolysis and Fatty Acid β-Oxidation of Lipid Droplets

Lipid storage droplet protein 5 (LSDP5) is a lipid droplet-associated protein of the PAT (perilipin, adipophilin, and TIP47) family that is expressed in the liver in a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα)-dependent manner; however, its exact function has not been elucidated. We noticed that LSDP5 was localized to the surface of lipid droplets in hepatocytes. Overexpression of LSDP5 enhanced lipid accumulation in the hepatic cell line AML12 and in primary hepatocytes. Knock-down of LSDP5 significantly decreased the triglyceride content of lipid droplets, stimulated lipolysis, and modestly increased the mitochondrial content and level of fatty-acid β-oxidation in the mitochondria. The expression of PPARα was increased in LSDP5-deficient cells and required for the increase in the level of fatty acid β-oxidation in LSDP5-deficient cells. Using serial deletions of LSDP5, we determined that the lipid droplet-targeting domain and the domain directing lipid droplet clustering overlapped and were localized to the 188 amino acid residues at the N-terminus of LSDP5. Our findings suggest that LSDP5, a novel lipid droplet protein, may contribute to triglyceride accumulation by negatively regulating lipolysis and fatty acid oxidation in hepatocytes

Vortices in multiphoton pair production revisited

Vortices in multiphoton pair production are revisited by two counter-rotating fields with time delay for different cycles in pulse. Novel findings include that for subcycle fields, the remarkable vortex structure in the momentum spectrum can be still caused by a large time delay compared to the previous study for supercycle case where it is easier to be generated by a small time delay. And also there exist a range of critical polarization values for the vortices appearance corresponding to the different cycle number. The relative phase difference between two fields causes not only severe symmetry breaking of the momentum spectra pattern and vortex, but also a significant change for the shape and the number of vortex spiral. Upon the number density, it is found a more sensitive to the cycle number, in particularly, it is enhanced by more than one order of magnitude for small cycle pulse, while it is increased about few times when the time delay is small. These results provide an abundant theoretical testbed for the possible experimental observation on the multiphoton pair production in future. Meanwhile, it is applicable to regard the particles momentum signatures as a new probing to the laser field information with it from the vacuum.Comment: 29 pages, 12 figures, 2 table
