    The Organizational Innovativeness Inventory for information and electronic enterprises: Development and Validation

    The primary purpose of this study is to develop Taiwan localization and suitable inventory for the measuring organizational innovation in information and electronic enterprises. In review of relevant literatures, and with reference to opinions from scholars and practical experience from enterprises, the framework of the inventory would be initially established. Concerning the inventory reliability, Cronbach's coefficient, item-total correlation and test-retest reliability coefficient have been employed to test the extent of internal consistency and the stability of the inventory. In the construction of validity, Linear Structural Relation was adopted to carry out confirmatory factor analysis. The suitability and fitness of the seven dimensions and 58 questions have been thus verified. As a result, this inventory with adequate validity and reliability can serve as effective instrument for the measurement of organizational innovation in domestic information and electronic enterprises. The developed questionnaire of this study is a method to quantify the organizational innovation.     As the Taiwanese government gradually opens up the country’s banking sector in recent years, the number of financial institutions of Taiwan has increased rapidly. Until the end of January 2010, the number of the domestic banks is up to 37, the average number of the customers served in each branch is less than 4,000. As all banks wish to be more competitive in such an environment, new advertising and marketing skills are taken. New banking services and technology are also provided in order to attract more customers. The study aims to discuss the relationship among three aspects including the Electronic Customer Relationship Management, Customer Satisfaction, Customer Loyalty, and we choose Bank Sinopac users as subject. In addition, the following results are concluded by statistics and analysis: 1. Using e-CRM had obvious on the customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. 2.     Promoting cold-start items in recommender systems

    As one of major challenges, cold-start problem plagues nearly all recommender systems. In particular, new items will be overlooked, impeding the development of new products online. Given limited resources, how to utilize the knowledge of recommender systems and design efficient marketing strategy for new items is extremely important. In this paper, we convert this ticklish issue into a clear mathematical problem based on a bipartite network representation. Under the most widely used algorithm in real e-commerce recommender systems, so-called the item-based collaborative filtering, we show that to simply push new items to active users is not a good strategy. To our surprise, experiments on real recommender systems indicate that to connect new items with some less active users will statistically yield better performance, namely these new items will have more chance to appear in other users' recommendation lists. Further analysis suggests that the disassortative nature of recommender systems contributes to such observation. In a word, getting in-depth understanding on recommender systems could pave the way for the owners to popularize their cold-start products with low costs.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figure

    Motor neuron-derived Thsd7a is essential for zebrafish vascular development via the Notch-dll4 signaling pathway.

    BackgroundDevelopment of neural and vascular systems displays astonishing similarities among vertebrates. This parallelism is under a precise control of complex guidance signals and neurovascular interactions. Previously, our group identified a highly conserved neural protein called thrombospondin type I domain containing 7A (THSD7A). Soluble THSD7A promoted and guided endothelial cell migration, tube formation and sprouting. In addition, we showed that thsd7a could be detected in the nervous system and was required for intersegmental vessels (ISV) patterning during zebrafish development. However, the exact origin of THSD7A and its effect on neurovascular interaction remains unclear.ResultsIn this study, we discovered that zebrafish thsd7a was expressed in the primary motor neurons. Knockdown of Thsd7a disrupted normal primary motor neuron formation and ISV sprouting in the Tg(kdr:EGFP/mnx1:TagRFP) double transgenic zebrafish. Interestingly, we found that Thsd7a morphants displayed distinct phenotypes that are very similar to the loss of Notch-delta like 4 (dll4) signaling. Transcript profiling further revealed that expression levels of notch1b and its downstream targets, vegfr2/3 and nrarpb, were down-regulated in the Thsd7a morphants. These data supported that zebrafish Thsd7a could regulate angiogenic sprouting via Notch-dll4 signaling during development.ConclusionsOur results suggested that motor neuron-derived Thsd7a plays a significant role in neurovascular interactions. Thsd7a could regulate ISV angiogenesis via Notch-dll4 signaling. Thus, Thsd7a is a potent angioneurin involved in the development of both neural and vascular systems

    Lightweight Modality Adaptation to Sequential Recommendation via Correlation Supervision

    In Sequential Recommenders (SR), encoding and utilizing modalities in an end-to-end manner is costly in terms of modality encoder sizes. Two-stage approaches can mitigate such concerns, but they suffer from poor performance due to modality forgetting, where the sequential objective overshadows modality representation. We propose a lightweight knowledge distillation solution that preserves both merits: retaining modality information and maintaining high efficiency. Specifically, we introduce a novel method that enhances the learning of embeddings in SR through the supervision of modality correlations. The supervision signals are distilled from the original modality representations, including both (1) holistic correlations, which quantify their overall associations, and (2) dissected correlation types, which refine their relationship facets (honing in on specific aspects like color or shape consistency). To further address the issue of modality forgetting, we propose an asynchronous learning step, allowing the original information to be retained longer for training the representation learning module. Our approach is compatible with various backbone architectures and outperforms the top baselines by 6.8% on average. We empirically demonstrate that preserving original feature associations from modality encoders significantly boosts task-specific recommendation adaptation. Additionally, we find that larger modality encoders (e.g., Large Language Models) contain richer feature sets which necessitate more fine-grained modeling to reach their full performance potential.Comment: Accepted by ECIR 202

    A Conversation is Worth A Thousand Recommendations: A Survey of Holistic Conversational Recommender Systems

    Conversational recommender systems (CRS) generate recommendations through an interactive process. However, not all CRS approaches use human conversations as their source of interaction data; the majority of prior CRS work simulates interactions by exchanging entity-level information. As a result, claims of prior CRS work do not generalise to real-world settings where conversations take unexpected turns, or where conversational and intent understanding is not perfect. To tackle this challenge, the research community has started to examine holistic CRS, which are trained using conversational data collected from real-world scenarios. Despite their emergence, such holistic approaches are under-explored. We present a comprehensive survey of holistic CRS methods by summarizing the literature in a structured manner. Our survey recognises holistic CRS approaches as having three components: 1) a backbone language model, the optional use of 2) external knowledge, and/or 3) external guidance. We also give a detailed analysis of CRS datasets and evaluation methods in real application scenarios.     Delisheng, a Chinese medicinal compound, exerts anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic effects on HepG2 cells through extrinsic and intrinsic pathways

    The anti-proliferative, cytotoxic and apoptogenic activities of delisheng, a Chinese medicinal compound, has been investigated. In this study, the hepatocarcinoma cell line (HepG2) and the liver cell line (L-02) were exposed to delisheng (6.25, 50 and 100 μl/ml). Delisheng suppressed the proliferation and viability of normal liver L-02 cells slightly, but strongly inhibited the proliferation and viability of hepatocarcinoma HepG2 cells. The flow cytometric analysis of HepG2 cells demonstrated that delisheng primarily arrested the HepG2 cells at the G1 phase of the cell cycle. Annexin V-FITC/PI staining corroborates the apoptogenic nature of delisheng on HepG2 cells. The anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic effect of delisheng in HepG2 cells was associated with changes in the Bcl-2/Bax ratio and the induction of caspase-mediated apoptosis. Upregulation of DR5 expression was observed in HepG2 cells after treatment with delisheng. The findings from the present study suggest that delisheng has selective cytotoxic activities against HepG2 cells. Delisheng triggered time- and dose-dependent apoptosis in HepG2 cells by activating the mitochondria-mediated and death receptor-mediated apoptotic pathways

    Education Equality and Its Influencing Factors for Migrant Children in the Compulsory Education Stage Based on Multi-Source Data: A Case Study of Dalian, China

    Inequality in the admission of migrant children is an important manifestation of inequities at the compulsory education stage in China. Spatial differences in the allocation of educational resources and the factors affecting the number of enrolled migrant children led to the following conclusions: 1) the total number of migrant children in Dalian is growing situationally, with a total increase of 29,223 from 2008 to 2020. 2) The migrant children in Dalian in 2020 are distributed in a spatially uneven manner, with most of them concentrated in the periphery of the Ganjingzi District, south of the Jinzhou area (suburban areas), where very few of them were enrolled in high-quality junior high and primary schools. 3) The distribution of educational resources differed significantly between the central urban areas and suburban areas. 4) The internal factor of schools constraining the admission of migrant children is the teacher–student ratio. For every 1% increase in the teacher–student ratio, the number of migrant children decreases by 4.12%. The main external factors affecting the admission of migrant children were rental prices and the area occupied by construction, which increased by 1% for each 2,000 m buffer range of school and 0.25% for the number of migrant children and decreased by 0.29% for each 2,000 m buffer range of the school
