    Difficulties in probing density dependent symmetry potential with the HBT interferometry

    Based on the updated UrQMD transport model, the effect of the symmetry potential energy on the two-nucleon HBT correlation is investigated with the help of the coalescence program for constructing clusters, and the CRAB analyzing program of the two-particle HBT correlation. An obvious non-linear dependence of the neutron-proton (or neutron-neutron) HBT correlation function (Cnp,nnC_{np,nn}) at small relative momenta on the stiffness factor γ\gamma of the symmetry potential energy is found: when γ0.8\gamma \lesssim 0.8, the Cnp,nnC_{np,nn} increases rapidly with increasing γ\gamma, while it starts to saturate if γ0.8\gamma \gtrsim 0.8. It is also found that both the symmetry potential energy at low densities and the conditions of constructing clusters at the late stage of the whole process influence the two-nucleon HBT correlation with the same power.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figure

    The role of qqˉq\bar q components in the N(1440) resonance

    The role of 5-quark components in the pion and electromagnetic decays and transition form factors of the N(1440) is explored. The qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q components, where the 4-quark subsystem has the flavor-spin symmetries [4]FS[22]F[22]S[4]_{FS}[22]_F[22]_S and [4]FS[31]F[31]S[4]_{FS}[31]_F[31]_S, which are expected to have the lowest energy of all qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q configurations, are considered in detail with a nonrelativistic quark model. The matrix elements between the 5-quark components of the N(1440) and the nucleon, qqqqqˉqqqqqˉqqqq\bar q\to qqqq\bar q, play a minor role in these decays, while the transition matrix elements qqqqqˉqqqqqqq\bar q\to qqq and qqqqqqqqˉqqq\to qqqq\bar q that involve quark antiquark annihilation are very significant. Both for the electromagnetic and strong decay the change from the valence quark model value is dominated by the confinement triggered qqˉq\bar q annihilation transitions. In the case of pion decay the calculated decay width is enhanced substantially both by the direct qqˉπq\bar q \to \pi and also by the confinement triggered qqˉπq\bar q\to \pi transitions. Agreement with the empirical value for the pion decay width may be reached with a \sim 30% qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q component in the N(1440).Comment: 23 pages revte

    NΩN\Omega and ΔΩ\Delta\Omega dibaryons in SU(3) chiral quark model

    The binding energy of the six quark system with strangeness s=-3 is investigated under the chiral SU(3) constituent quark model in the framework of RGMRGM. The calculations of the single NΩN\Omega channel with spin S=2 and the single ΔΩ\Delta\Omega channel with spin S=3 are performed. The results show that both systems could be dibaryons and the interaction induced by the chiral field plays a very important role on forming bound states in the systems considered.     Five-quark components in Δ(1232)Nπ\Delta(1232)\to N\pi decay

    Five-quark qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q components in the Δ(1232)\Delta(1232) are shown to contribute significantly to Δ(1232)Nπ\Delta(1232)\to N\pi decay through quark-antiquark annihilation transitions. These involve the overlap between the qqqqqq and qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q components and may be triggered by the confining interaction between the quarks. With a \sim 10% admixture of five-quark components in the Δ(1232)\Delta(1232) the decay width can be larger by factors 2 - 3 over that calculated in the quark model with 3 valence quarks, depending on the details of the confining interaction. The effect of transitions between the qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q components themselves on the calculated decay width is however small. The large contribution of the quark-antiquark annihilation transitions thus may compensate the underprediction of the width of the Δ(1232)\Delta(1232) by the valence quark model, once the Δ(1232)\Delta(1232) contains qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q components with \sim 10% probability.Comment: accepted versio

    Electronic structure and superconductivity of BiS2-based compounds LaO1-xFxBiS2

    Using the density-functional perturbation theory with structural optimization, we investigate the electronic structure, phonon spectra, and superconductivity of BiS2-based layered compounds LaO1-xFxBiS2. For LaO0.5F0.5BiS2, the calculated electron-phonon coupling constant is equal to lambda = 0.8, and obtained Tc = 9.1 K is very close to its experimental value, indicating that it is a conventional electron-phonon superconductor

    Robust optimization for energy transactions in multi-microgrids under uncertainty

    Independent operation of single microgrids (MGs) faces problems such as low self-consumption of local renewable energy, high operation cost and frequent power exchange with the grid. Interconnecting multiple MGs as a multi-microgrid (MMG) is an effective way to improve operational and economic performance. However, ensuring the optimal collaborative operation of a MMG is a challenging problem, especially under disturbances of intermittent renewable energy. In this paper, the economic and collaborative operation of MMGs is formulated as a unit commitment problem to describe the discrete characteristics of energy transaction combinations among MGs. A two-stage adaptive robust optimization based collaborative operation approach for a residential MMG is constructed to derive the scheduling scheme which minimizes the MMG operating cost under the worst realization of uncertain PV output. Transformed by its KKT optimality conditions, the reformulated model is efficiently solved by a column-and-constraint generation (C&CG) method. Case studies verify the effectiveness of the proposed model and evaluate the benefits of energy transactions in MMGs. The results show that the developed MMG operation approach is able to minimize the daily MMG operating cost while mitigating the disturbances of uncertainty in renewable energy sources. Compared to the non-interactive model, the proposed model can not only reduce the MMG operating cost but also mitigate the frequent energy interaction between the MMG and the grid

    Sea-quark effects in the pion charge form factor

    It is shown that the data on the pion charge form factor admit the possibility for a substantial sea-quark components in the pion wave function. If the charge form factor is calculated with instant form kinematics in a constituent quark model that is extended to include explicit (qqˉ)2(q\bar q)^2 components in the pion wave function, that component will give the dominant contribution to the calculated π+\pi^+ charge form factor at large values of momentum transfer. The present experimental values Q2Q^2 can be described well with (qqˉ)2(q\bar q)^2 component admixtures of up to 50%. The sensitivity of the calculated π+\pi^+ charge form factor to whether one of the quarks or one of the antiquarks is taken to be in the P-state is small.Comment: 14 page

    Construction of a surface air temperature series for Qingdao in China for the period 1899 to 2014

    Abstract. We present a homogenized surface air temperature (SAT) time series at 2 m height for the city of Qingdao in China from 1899 to 2014. This series is derived from three data sources: newly digitized and homogenized observations of the German National Meteorological Service from 1899 to 1913, homogenized observation data of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) from 1961 to 2014 and a gridded dataset of Willmott and Matsuura (2012) in Delaware to fill the gap from 1914 to 1960. Based on this new series, long-term trends are described. The SAT in Qingdao has a significant warming trend of 0.11 ± 0.03 °C decade−1 during 1899–2014. The coldest period occurred during 1909–1918 and the warmest period occurred during 1999–2008. For the seasonal mean SAT, the most significant warming can be found in spring, followed by winter. The homogenized time series of Qingdao is provided and archived by the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) web page under overseas stations of the Deutsche Seewarte (http://www.dwd.de/EN/ourservices/overseas_stations/ueberseedoku/doi_qingdao.html) in ASCII format.     Rank-frequency relation for Chinese characters

    We show that the Zipf's law for Chinese characters perfectly holds for sufficiently short texts (few thousand different characters). The scenario of its validity is similar to the Zipf's law for words in short English texts. For long Chinese texts (or for mixtures of short Chinese texts), rank-frequency relations for Chinese characters display a two-layer, hierarchic structure that combines a Zipfian power-law regime for frequent characters (first layer) with an exponential-like regime for less frequent characters (second layer). For these two layers we provide different (though related) theoretical descriptions that include the range of low-frequency characters (hapax legomena). The comparative analysis of rank-frequency relations for Chinese characters versus English words illustrates the extent to which the characters play for Chinese writers the same role as the words for those writing within alphabetical systems.Comment: To appear in European Physical Journal B (EPJ B), 2014 (22 pages, 7 figures
