    Scalable Bell inequalities for multiqubit systems

    Based on Clauser-Horner-Shimony-Holt inequality, we show a fruitful method to exploit Bell inequalities for multipartite qubit systems. These Bell inequalities are designed with a simpler architecture tailored to experimental demonstration. Under the optimal setting we derive a set of compact Mermin-type inequalities and discuss quantum violations for generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GGHZ) states. Also, we reveal relationship between quantum nonlocality and four-partite entanglement for four-qubit GGHZ states.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

    Understanding the Roles of Challenge Security Demands, Psychological Resources in Information Security Policy Noncompliance

    It is widely agreed that employees’ noncompliance with information security policies (ISP) is still a major problem for organizations. In order to understand the factors that reduce employees’ ISP noncompliance, previous studies have focused on stressful security demands that consequently aggravate noncompliance, and tangible job resources to promote compliance. However, how security demands encourage employees to comply and how intangible resources affect employees’ ISP noncompliance have been largely overlooked. In this study, we posit and argue that challenge security demands and intangible psychological resources can help promote employees’ ISP compliance. Drawing on the Job Demands- Resources Model and the theory of psychological resource, we specifically examine the roles of continuity demand, mandatory demand as challenge security demands, and felt trust, professional development and personal resource as psychological resources in influencing employees’ ISP noncompliance. The proposed model is validated by survey data from 224 employees. The theoretical and practical contributions are also discussed

    A confidence interval for effect sizes provides a range of plausible population effect sizes (ES) that are consistent with data. This article defines an ES as a standardized linear contrast of means. The noncentral method, Bonett’s method, and the bias-corrected and accelerated bootstrap method are illustrated for constructing the confidence interval for such an effect size. Results obtained from the three methods are discussed and interpretations of results are offered

    Controlled Levofloxacin Release and Antibacterial Properties of ÎČ-Cyclodextrins-Grafted Polypropylene Mesh Devices for Hernia Repair.

    Mesh infection is a major complication of hernia repair. After knitted mesh implantation, bacteria can grow within textile structures causing infection. In this work, polypropylene (PP) mesh devices were two-step grafted with hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) and ÎČ⁻cyclodexrins (CD) and then loaded with suitable antimicrobial levofloxacin HCL for hernia mesh-infection prevention. First, oxygen plasma was able to create surface roughness, then HDI was successfully grafted onto PP fiber surfaces. Afterwards, CD was covalently grafted onto the HDI treated PP meshes, and levofloxacin HCL (LVFX) was loaded into the CD cavity of the modified meshes. The modified devices were evaluated for sustained antibiotic properties and drug-release profiles in a phosphate buffer, and sustained drug release was observed between interfaces of meshes and aqueous environment. The antibiotic-loaded PP mesh samples demonstrated sustained antibacterial properties for 7 and 10 days, respectively, against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. The CD-captured levofloxacin HCL showed burst release after 6 h but later exhibited sustained release for the next 48 h. Among all samples, the modified mesh LVFX-6 was more stable and showed more sustained drug release and could be employed in future clinical applications
