    Cross-Domain Few-Shot Classification via Inter-Source Stylization

    The goal of Cross-Domain Few-Shot Classification (CDFSC) is to accurately classify a target dataset with limited labelled data by exploiting the knowledge of a richly labelled auxiliary dataset, despite the differences between the domains of the two datasets. Some existing approaches require labelled samples from multiple domains for model training. However, these methods fail when the sample labels are scarce. To overcome this challenge, this paper proposes a solution that makes use of multiple source domains without the need for additional labeling costs. Specifically, one of the source domains is completely tagged, while the others are untagged. An Inter-Source Stylization Network (ISSNet) is then introduced to enhance stylisation across multiple source domains, enriching data distribution and model's generalization capabilities. Experiments on 8 target datasets show that ISSNet leverages unlabelled data from multiple source data and significantly reduces the negative impact of domain gaps on classification performance compared to several baseline methods.Comment: 5 page

    Prevalence of Neuropsychiatric Symptoms across the Declining Memory Continuum: An Observational Study in a Memory Clinic Setting

    Aims: The study aimed to compare the frequency of neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) across the declining memory continuum, from normal aging, subjective cognitive impairment (SCI), and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and to explore the clinical correlates of NPS. Method: In a memory clinic, 157 subjects (46 mild AD patients, 38 MCI individuals, 24 SCI subjects, and 49 normal controls) completed the neurobehavioral assessments with the Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI). The clinical significance of each NPI domain was defined as an item score ≥4. Result: Clinically significant depression was more common in the SCI than in the normal control group (p Conclusion: Across the declining memory continuum, the frequency of NPS was highest among mild AD patients. Depression, apathy, and aberrant motor behavior deserve more attention. Presence of apathy might be an independent determinant for mild AD

    Subfamily Anischiinae (Coleoptera: Eucnemidae) in Early Cretaceous of Northeast China

    Rheanischia new genus, type species Rheanischia brevicornis new species (Eucnemidae, Anischiinae) is described from the Lower Cretaceous of Liaoning, China. The presence of this species in early Cretaceous deposits provides new insight into the evolution of basal lignicolous Eucnemidae clades. Both Anischiinae and Palaeoxeninae species diversified in a world dominated by gymnosperms, before the main radiation of angiosperms. More than 95% of modern eucnemid larvae have a Palaeoxenus-type highly modified head structure, but contrary to the Palaeoxenus larva, they develop in angiosperm wood. Anischiinae utilize angiosperms as well, but their head capsule shows no such modifications. These facts prove that highly specialized morphological features do not offer definite proof of similar way of life in the distant past, nor should non-modified structures be taken as proof for another kind of substrate choice. Eucnemidae have invaded angiosperms with two quite different morphological adaptations. This fact may have implications for the evolution of all clicking elateroids

    BiSinger: Bilingual Singing Voice Synthesis

    Although Singing Voice Synthesis (SVS) has made great strides with Text-to-Speech (TTS) techniques, multilingual singing voice modeling remains relatively unexplored. This paper presents BiSinger, a bilingual pop SVS system for English and Chinese Mandarin. Current systems require separate models per language and cannot accurately represent both Chinese and English, hindering code-switch SVS. To address this gap, we design a shared representation between Chinese and English singing voices, achieved by using the CMU dictionary with mapping rules. We fuse monolingual singing datasets with open-source singing voice conversion techniques to generate bilingual singing voices while also exploring the potential use of bilingual speech data. Experiments affirm that our language-independent representation and incorporation of related datasets enable a single model with enhanced performance in English and code-switch SVS while maintaining Chinese song performance.     Temporal and spatial distributions of soil nutrients in Hani terraced paddy fields, Southwestern China

    AbstractHani terraced paddy fields are one of the most important ways for agricultural products and greatly influence regional landscapes in mountainous areas of Southwestern China. However, the knowledge of soil nutrient conditions from Hani terraced paddy fields is limited. This paper investigates such soil nutrient parameters as organic matter (OM), total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), available phosphorus (AP), total potassium (TK), available potassium (AK) of four sampling sites of paddy fields under special geographical environment and agricultural technology, and compares the differences of soil nutrients related to spatial patterns and temporal periods. Correlation analysis is performed to analyze the impact of environmental factors on soil nutrients, as well as the relationships between soil nutrient parameters and altitude, slope direction, gradient and distance from village. The results show that there were some differences separately in the content of soil nutrients such as OM, TN, TP, AP, TK and AK. The AK and AP levels are lower in the fallow period than that in the tillage period, only OM level in the fallow period is higher than that in the tillage period; TN, TK, TP levels are nearly similar in the tillage and the fallow period. Unlike great differences in two periods, soil nutrient content in the ridge of fields is identical basically with the content in the corresponding paddy fields. Correlation analysis shows that soil nutrients of AK, TP, TN and OM have distinctive negative correlations with distance from villages, while AP and TK display a slight fluctuation

    Evaluation of voltage-dependent calcium channel gamma gene families identified several novel potential susceptible genes to schizophrenia

    Voltage-gated L-type calcium channels (VLCC) are distributed widely throughout the brain. Among the genes involved in schizophrenia (SCZ), genes encoding VLCC subunits have attracted widespread attention. Among the four subunits comprising the VLCC (α − 1, α −2/δ, β, and γ), the γ subunit that comprises an eight-member protein family is the least well understood. In our study, to further investigate the risk susceptibility by the γ subunit gene family to SCZ, we conducted a large-scale association study in Han Chinese individuals. The SNP rs17645023 located in the intergenic region of CACNG4 and CACNG5 was identified to be significantly associated with SCZ (OR = 0.856, P = 5.43 × 10(−5)). Similar results were obtained in the meta-analysis with the current SCZ PGC data (OR = 0.8853). We also identified a two-SNP haplotype (rs10420331-rs11084307, P = 1.4 × 10(−6)) covering the intronic region of CACNG8 to be significantly associated with SCZ. Epistasis analyses were conducted, and significant statistical interaction (OR = 0.622, P = 2.93 × 10(−6), P(perm) < 0.001) was observed between rs192808 (CACNG6) and rs2048137 (CACNG5). Our results indicate that CACNG4, CACNG5, CACNG6 and CACNG8 may contribute to the risk of SCZ. The statistical epistasis identified between CACNG5 and CACNG6 suggests that there may be an underlying biological interaction between the two genes

    Changes in aroma composition of blackberry wine during fermentation process

    The study aimed at investigating the influence of fermentation (primary and secondary) on aroma composition of blackberry wine. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was applied to quantify the compounds relevant to sparkling wine aroma. Investigation on this study revealed that a number of aroma components in raw material (55 in numbers), raw wine (54 in numbers), and aging wine (50 in numbers) were identified. In addition, 9 new aroma components such as octanoate, benzenepropanoic acid ethyl ester, ethyl benzoate, dodecyl ethyl, n-propanol, n-butanol, d-citronellol, benzaldehyde, and cedrol were detected in natural aging wine which appeared during secondary fermentation according to total peak areas of 4.69%. These findings reveal that natural aging is very important to aroma components formation of blackberry wine.Key words: Blackberry, gas chromatography, primary fermentation, secondary fermentation
