Purpose: comparative analysis of physical development parameters of Ukrainian city pupils in dynamics of 35 years monitoring period, determination of level and harmony of physical development of modern pupils. Participants: it was examined 2453 city children and teenagers of 6-17 year old (1224 boys and 1229 girls). Comparison was carried out with results of 1974 year. The analysis of physical development was carried out according to the official tables containing regression scales of the body length. Results: it is observed reliable (p<0,01) and highly reliable (p<0,001) body length augmentation in comparison with equals in age in 1970th in all age and gender groups of pupils (except 8 year old children). Since 11 year old, modern children were authentically taller (р<0,001) than equals in age in 1974. Comparison of body weight of boys determined that from 11 up to 13 year old modern pupils reliably exceed equals in age in 1970th. It is determined similar differences in 12-13 year old girls. It is observed reliable augmentation of chest circumference in 12-14 year old girls and also in 11-12 and 15-17 year old boys in comparison with equals in age in 1974 year. There are no gender differences in distribution of children by the level of physical development. Conclusions: it is determined the following consistent patterns and features of physical development of Ukrainian city pupils during 1970th – 2000th years: no more than 57-59% of pupils have average and harmonious physical development; every 6th boy and every 5th girl have overweight; it is observed high-quality and quantitative reliable deterioration in physical development and morphofunctional state in children of both genders during study at school. It is most expressed in boys; from 1st up to the 4th form pupils with disharmonious development becomes in 2,5 times more weighty (about 12%), and up to 9th form – in 7 times (about 20% respectively)

Abstract Background. The relative age effect has been used to refer to the age differences between individuals who have been grouped together in a sports competition. In this sense, the relative age effect is considered a determining factor of sporting success. Problem and Aim. Determine the influence of relative age on the achievement of success by athletes in top-level competitions in modern wrestling. Methods and materials. In the research paper, the data of the athletes (n = 682) who took from 1 to 8 places at the 2017, 2018 and 2019 World Championships and the 2016 Olympic Games in Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling are considered. The athletes were sub-categorized by the athletes’ dates of birth; medalists; participation and achieved success in the cadets and juniors competitions. Results. There are more athletes who were born in the first half of the year than in the second: 54.7% versus 45.3%, respectively. The distribution of medal winners by date of birth is as follows: it turned out that 53.3% of medalists were born in the first half of the year while 46.7% − in the second half of the year (p>0.05). Conclusion. The data obtained show that the relative age effect does not affect the achievement of success in wrestling and is leveled at the adult stage. However, the analysis has shown that the greatest influence of the relative age effect on athletes was revealed at the cadet level

Background and Study Aim. Comparative analysis of physical development and body composition using the index method in kickboxing athletes with different training experience. Material and Methods. Participants: 30 kickboxing athletes, group 1 – 15 people, (13.20±0.60) years old, training experience (0.71±0.13) years. Group 2 - 15 people, (15.20±1.14) years old, training experience (6.80±1.16) years. 18 anthropometric indicators were determined. 21 indices were calculated based on them. The median (Me), 1 (25%) and 3 (75%) quartiles were determined. The somatotype was determined by the bioimpedance method using the OMRON BF-511 body composition monitor (Japan). The significance of differences in the groups was assessed by the nonparametric Rosenbaum test (Q). Results. A significant excess of indicators of the 2nd group in terms of Erisman's index (Q=10), Pignet's index (Q=7), Livy's index (Q=12), Isakson's body surface area (Q=11) and relative body surface (Q=21) was established , relative length of arm (Q=11) and leg (Q=14), index of arm circumference (Q=15) and leg (Q=6), shoulder index (Q=10), indices of massiveness of segments of the forearm (Q=11) and shoulder (Q=30), conditional moments of force of the forearm (Q=30), shoulder (Q=30), lower leg (Q=30) and thigh (Q=30). A trend towards a decrease in fat content and an increase in muscle tissue in more trained athletes has been confirmed. Conclusions. A comparative analysis of the physical development and body composition of kickboxing athletes with different training experience confirmed certain differences. More trained kickboxers had better indicators of the shoulder index, which reflects the posture of the athletes. The Erisman index illustrated the increase in the muscles of the torso under the influence of training loads. The increase in body surface area and relative body surface reflects the greater adaptive potential of more trained kickboxers. The large relative length of the arms and legs, the indices of the ratio of the segments of the limbs, the indices of massiveness and the conditional moments of the segments' strength reflect the best technical capabilities of more trained athletes, the ability to blow at a greater distance and with greater force. The adequacy of using the method of indices as more informative than anthropometric indicators is shown. It is proposed to use these indices in monitoring the state of kickboxing athletes

The purpose of the study was to analyze the psychophysiological characteristics of football players and water sports athletes as factors of professional selection. Materials and methods: The study involved students of a specialized sports school (n = 31, age: 16-17 years). The participants were divided into two groups: group 1 - 20 football players, group 2 - 11 water sports athletes (swimming). The level of sportsmanship is 1 category, Candidates and Masters of Sports. Tests applied: determination of the duration of an individual minute (IM), measuring of a 10 cm segment (SM), determination of simple hand-eye coordination (SHEyC), and simple hand-ear coordination (SHEaC), the technique of “Figures memorizing”, solution of 10 sums. Results: The results of the IM test reflect the prevalence of the earlier test completion. All participants indicated a lower value in 9th test of a segment measuring. The results of the SHEyC and SHEaC of the participants were similar. The results of all tests were less than 10 in the test of “Figures memorizing”. Football players revealed link between coordination and psychophysiological tests results, while swimmers revealed link between coordination and sensory type of tests. Conclusions: The carried out psychophysiological analysis of athletes' condition of team sports and water sports confirmed the possibility of applying these tests for selection. The results obtained reflect the specific influence of the sport on the athletes' bodies. These indicators demonstrate the increased requirements for spatial orientation, the importance of reaction to auditory stimuli and the increased ability of football players to control the surrounding space and control the game situation

Passion for computer games negatively affects the health level of schoolchildren. Among the approaches to monitoring the functional state of such schoolchildren, the most informative and painless is the study of the saliva. The study involved 45 children, aged 14.00±0.21 years, and divided according to the contact’s intensity with computer games. The following indicators of lipid peroxidation (LPO) were determined in the saliva: indicators of the antioxidant (AO) system, concentration of immunoglobulin A, and hormonal indicators. The significant increases in the catecholamine (adrenaline) level for 2.3 times and biogenic amine–serotonin for 35.5% and increase in the LPO-DC product concentration in gamers for 75.8% were revealed. The study of the schoolchildren’s homeostasis peculiarities confirmed the adequacy of the use of biochemical techniques to assess the condition of children gamers. They have a prenosological condition. This is reflected in the increase in LPO intensity, failure of the protective AO system, imbalance of hormonal state, and immunity deterioration. Information on the evaluation of the LPO activity processes and the AO system condition and the degree of the balance’s shift between prooxidants and antioxidants in biological substrates can be considered objective and very sensitive indicators of the general condition, activity, and improvement of the regulation and maintenance of homeostasis

    No full text
To develop a methodology for predicting success in artistic swimming based on a set of morphofunctional indicators and indices, 30 schoolgirls, average age (12.00 ± 0.22), were divided into two groups. Group 1: 15 athletes, training experience 4–5 years. Group 2: 15 schoolgirls without training experience. For each participant, we determined the length and weight of the body, the circumference of the chest, vital lung capacity, and the circumference of the biceps in a tense and at rest. The Erisman index, biceps index, and the ratio of proper and actual vital lung capacity was calculated. Them, we conducted the Stange and Genchi hypoxic tests, and flexibility tests for “Split”, “Crab position”, and “Forward bend”. Prediction was conducted using the Wald test with the calculation of predictive coefficients and their informativeness. A predictive table containing results of functional tests and indices of artistic swimming athletes is developed. It includes nine criteria, which informativeness varied in the range of 395.70–31.98. The content of the prediction consists of evaluating the results, determining the appropriate predictive coefficient, and summing these coefficients before reaching one of the predictive thresholds. The conducted research allowed us to substantiate and develop a method for predicting the success of female athletes with the use of morphofunctional indicators and indices
