Formation of high surface area Li/MgO - Efficient catalyst for the oxidative dehydrogenation/cracking of propane.

    Get PDF
In this study nanoscale clusters of Li/MgO oxide with varying lithium contents are prepared via the sol–gel method. The preparation routine consists of co-gelation of LiNO3 and Mg(OCH3)2 in methanol/water solution followed by drying at 50 °C under vacuum and calcination at 500 °C in air. The structural and textural transformations that take place during oxide formation are studied with TGA–DSC–MS and FTIR spectroscopy. The obtained materials are characterized by TEM, N2 physisorption and XRD. Presence of increasing amounts of lithium precursor causes extensive hydrolysis of the alkoxide sol. Appreciable amounts of lithium ions can be incorporated in the magnesia gel even under the mild conditions during sol–gel transformation. Non-incorporated lithium ions form a separate carbonate phase, which has a detrimental effect on the surface area due to enhanced sintering. The Li/MgO oxide materials thus prepared possess high surface area (50–190 m2/g) depending on Li content. Small amounts of lithium ions, when present as a dispersed phase, do not seem to influence the structural and textural characteristics of the magnesia gel and, in these cases, nanoscale Li/MgO oxide clusters with high surface areas similar to pure MgO can be prepared. Sol–gel derived Li/MgO provides significantly higher olefin yields in ODH of propane in comparison with conventional Li/MgO catalysts, especially at lower temperatures

: Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) is one of many herbal medicine that have been used worldwide to prevent and treat diabetes mellitus. This research aimed to evaluate the effect of garlic bulbs extract administration on elevated blood glucose levels on Wistar rats (R. norvegicus) induced by alloxan. The subject in this research were male Wistar rats with total of 15 samples divided into 5 groups, consisting of one negative control group, one positive control group who were induce by 130 mg/kgBW of alloxan that cause the Rats in conditions of hyperglycemic, and three groups of Rats were given okra extract with dose of 0.375 ml/100 gBW of rat, 0.75 ml/100 gBW of rat , and 1.5 ml/100 gBW of rat. Blood glucose levels was measured on day zero, day one and day two every thirty minutes on 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, and every six hours on 0, 6, 12, 18, and 24. Data from the measurement showed that 0.375 ml/100 gBW, 0.75 ml/100 gBW , and 1.5 ml/100 gBW of okra extract can't reduce elevated blood glucose levels on Wistar rats

The research showed that the process of measuring the dimensions of product quality in Technical Education and Training Center (BLPT) Kaaten reached the total 2569 data retrieval scores indicating the index number of consumer satisfaction measurements of 85,63% and quite satisfied. This indicates that consumers who buy products at BLPT Kaaten Tomohon are aware of the benefits of BLPT products in terms of product quality dimensions that can be seen from the 8 dimensions of quality, namely performance, features, reliability, suitability, durability, ease of improvement, beauty and perception of quality. The measurement of quality dimension product of BLPT Kaaten Tomohon can be a reference for BLPT Kaaten Tomohon to continuously improve product quality in order to remain competitive in the market

The purpose of this study was to describe the profile of competitors and consumers in the Factory Bakery. This research was conducted at the Factory Bakery is located at Pogidon Street, Tuminting, Manado. The collection of data carried out for three months, from June 2015 to Agustus 2015. The primary data in this study were taken two ways to measure the variables of consumers by asking directly to consumers for six days, whereas for measuring competitors by asking directly to the owner of the business. The secondary data is obtained through agencies associated with this research. Sampling was done by accidental sampling technique, that where the samples taken are all consumer who are buying the products of Factory Bakery. Analysis of the data used is descriptive. The results show that the segmentation is done by Factory bakery based on gender, occupation, type of education, age, and region of origin has been proved that the Factory of Bakery has understood the needs and desires of consumers well. While the motivation was given in terms of price, service, location, facilities, flavors and shapes and variations to make the consumer has been satisfied with the Factory Bakery. Competitors that exist around the Factory Bakery can make an effort Factory Bakery threatened with various advantages Factory Bakery competitors but could still survive in competition with emphasis on quality products owned

Protein identification by nanopore peptide profiling

Nanopores are single-molecule sensors used in nucleic acid analysis, whereas their applicability towards full protein identification has yet to be demonstrated. Here, we show that an engineered Fragaceatoxin C nanopore is capable of identifying individual proteins by measuring peptide spectra that are produced from hydrolyzed proteins. Using model proteins, we show that the spectra resulting from nanopore experiments and mass spectrometry share similar profiles, hence allowing protein fingerprinting. The intensity of individual peaks provides information on the concentration of individual peptides, indicating that this approach is quantitative. Our work shows the potential of a low-cost, portable nanopore-based analyzer for protein identification.</p

Quantification of Protein Glycosylation Using Nanopores

Although nanopores can be used for singlemolecule sequencing of nucleic acids using low-cost portable devices, the characterization of proteins and their modifications has yet to be established. Here, we show that hydrophilic or glycosylated peptides translocate too quickly across FraC nanopores to be recognized. However, high ionic strengths (i.e., 3 M LiCl) and low pH (i.e., pH 3) together with using a nanopore with a phenylalanine at its constriction allows the recognition of hydrophilic peptides, and to distinguish between mono- and diglycosylated peptides. Using these conditions, we devise a nanopore method to detect, characterize, and quantify posttranslational modifications in generic proteins, which is one of the pressing challenges in proteomic analysis
