According to the valid "Educational and examinatorial rules" Faculty of Science, the thesis is composed from an introduction and a set of published scientific papers and manuscripts of scientific papers. In Introduction, Chapter 1, I shortly summarize the current knowledge about the cyanobacterial taxonomy, toxicology and autecology. The largest part of this Chapter is concern on Microcystis genus. Chapter 2 (Šejnohová, L.; Neméthová, D., Welker, M., Maršálek, B. (submitted): Cell diameter by the bloom-forming cyanobacterium Microcystis correlatates with the occurence of specific toxic oligopeptides within the season. - Journal of Phycology) analyzed the relationship between morphology and oligopeptides occurrence by Microcystis genus. This study represents the first work tested direct the relationship between individual morphological features of colony and individual peptides by using multivariate analysis. Detection and localization of cyanobacterial inoculum in the sediments - use knowledge of life strategies to minimize health risks
Water bloom (WB) is a global problem that is particularly closely linked with increased inputs of phosphorus to surface waters.. The subsequent accumulation of nutrients in the tank for the development not only of cyanobacteria in the water column, but also their survival in resting stages in the sediment. The quantity (amount) of inoculum (source) of cyanobacteria in the sediments is the primary factor, along with nutrient and climatic conditions, correlates with the resulting amount of algae in the water column during the summer season. Cyanobacterial resting stages in sediments require specific conditions for survival, which moreover genus from the genus (or species), cyanobacteria differ. Knowledge of the life cycle of cyanobacteria is therefore an essential prerequisite for starting a guide to environmentally friendly, with the current low cost of funds, limit the development of WB
Can we predict occurrence of toxic oligopeptides in Microcystis cells by microscopic analysis?
Possibility of toxicity prediction of the cyanobacterium Microcystis based on morphological characteristics
Monitoring of bloom forming cyanobacteria - the current expansion of invasive species in the Czech Republic
As part of the monitoring of water the flowers cyanobacteria, which carries out the Institute of Botany ASCR in the Czech Republic for more than 15 years of age, we observed in the recent years, an appreciable increase in the incidence cyanophytes Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii
