    Towards Reliable Image Outpainting: Learning Structure-Aware Multimodal Fusion with Depth Guidance

    Image outpainting technology generates visually plausible content regardless of authenticity, making it unreliable to be applied in practice. Thus, we propose a reliable image outpainting task, introducing the sparse depth from LiDARs to extrapolate authentic RGB scenes. The large field view of LiDARs allows it to serve for data enhancement and further multimodal tasks. Concretely, we propose a Depth-Guided Outpainting Network to model different feature representations of two modalities and learn the structure-aware cross-modal fusion. And two components are designed: 1) The Multimodal Learning Module produces unique depth and RGB feature representations from the perspectives of different modal characteristics. 2) The Depth Guidance Fusion Module leverages the complete depth modality to guide the establishment of RGB contents by progressive multimodal feature fusion. Furthermore, we specially design an additional constraint strategy consisting of Cross-modal Loss and Edge Loss to enhance ambiguous contours and expedite reliable content generation. Extensive experiments on KITTI and Waymo datasets demonstrate our superiority over the state-of-the-art method, quantitatively and qualitatively

    Collaborative Route Planning of UAVs, Workers and Cars for Crowdsensing in Disaster Response

    Efficiently obtaining the up-to-date information in the disaster-stricken area is the key to successful disaster response. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), workers and cars can collaborate to accomplish sensing tasks, such as data collection, in disaster-stricken areas. In this paper, we explicitly address the route planning for a group of agents, including UAVs, workers, and cars, with the goal of maximizing the task completion rate. We propose MANF-RL-RP, a heterogeneous multi-agent route planning algorithm that incorporates several efficient designs, including global-local dual information processing and a tailored model structure for heterogeneous multi-agent systems. Global-local dual information processing encompasses the extraction and dissemination of spatial features from global information, as well as the partitioning and filtering of local information from individual agents. Regarding the construction of the model structure for heterogeneous multi-agent, we perform the following work. We design the same data structure to represent the states of different agents, prove the Markovian property of the decision-making process of agents to simplify the model structure, and also design a reasonable reward function to train the model. Finally, we conducted detailed experiments based on the rich simulation data. In comparison to the baseline algorithms, namely Greedy-SC-RP and MANF-DNN-RP, MANF-RL-RP has exhibited a significant improvement in terms of task completion rate

    Formation Control for a Fleet of Autonomous Ground Vehicles: A Survey

    Autonomous/unmanned driving is the major state-of-the-art step that has a potential to fundamentally transform the mobility of individuals and goods. At present, most of the developments target standalone autonomous vehicles, which can sense the surroundings and control the vehicle based on this perception, with limited or no driver intervention. This paper focuses on the next step in autonomous vehicle research, which is the collaboration between autonomous vehicles, mainly vehicle formation control or vehicle platooning. To gain a deeper understanding in this area, a large number of the existing published papers have been reviewed systemically. In other words, many distributed and decentralized approaches of vehicle formation control are studied and their implementations are discussed. Finally, both technical and implementation challenges for formation control are summarized

    Marijuana use and DNA methylation-based biological age in young adults

    BACKGROUND: Marijuana is the third most commonly used drug in the USA and efforts to legalize it for medical and recreational use are growing. Despite the increase in use, marijuana\u27s effect on aging remains understudied and understanding the effects of marijuana on molecular aging may provide novel insights into the role of marijuana in the aging process. We therefore sought to investigate the association between cumulative and recent use of marijuana with epigenetic age acceleration (EAA) as estimated from blood DNA methylation. RESULTS: A random subset of participants from The Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA) Study with available whole blood at examination years (Y) 15 and Y20 underwent epigenomic profiling. Four EAA estimates (intrinsic epigenetic age acceleration, extrinsic epigenetic age acceleration, PhenoAge acceleration, and GrimAge acceleration) were calculated from DNA methylation levels measured at Y15 and Y20. Ever use and cumulative marijuana-years were calculated from the baseline visit to Y15 and Y20, and recent marijuana use (both any and number of days of use in the last 30 days) were calculated at Y15 and Y20. Ever use of marijuana and each additional marijuana-year were associated with a 6-month (P \u3c 0.001) and a 2.5-month (P \u3c 0.001) higher average in GrimAge acceleration (GAA) using generalized estimating equations, respectively. Recent use and each additional day of recent use were associated with a 20-month (P \u3c 0.001) and a 1-month (P \u3c 0.001) higher GAA, respectively. A statistical interaction between marijuana-years and alcohol consumption on GAA was observed (P = 0.011), with nondrinkers exhibiting a higher GAA (β = 0.21 [95% CI 0.05, 0.36], P = 0.008) compared to heavy drinkers (β = 0.05 [95% CI - 0.09, 0.18], P = 0.500) per each additional marijuana-year. No associations were observed for the remaining EAA estimates. CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest cumulative and recent marijuana use are associated with age-related epigenetic changes that are related to lifespan. These observed associations may be modified by alcohol consumption. Given the increase in use and legalization, these findings provide novel insight on the effect of marijuana use on the aging process as captured through blood DNA methylation

    Psychometric properties of the Depression Stigma Scale (DSS) in Chinese cancer patients:a cross-sectional study

    Objectives The Depression Stigma Scale (DSS) is commonly used to assess depression stigma in the general population and in people with depression. The DSS includes two 9-item subscales assumed to measure personal depression stigma (ie, personal perceptions of depression) and perceived depression stigma (ie, perceptions of how others perceive depression). The aim of the present study was to examine its psychometric properties in terms of validity and reliability in Chinese cancer patients. Design A cross-sectional study design. Participants and settings This study focused on 301 Chinese cancer patients recruited from two hospitals in Xian, China. Methods Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used to assess the factor structure. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbachs alpha. To examine concurrent validity, symptoms of depression were used as the criterion. Results For each subscale of the DSS (ie, personal and perceived depression stigma), the EFA and CFA confirmed a two-factor structure: weak-not-sick (ie, perceiving that depression is not a real illness, but rather a sign of weakness) and discrimination (ie, perceiving that depressed people are discriminated against). The Cronbachs alphas were adequate, ranging from 0.70 to 0.80. Symptoms of depression were positively but weakly correlated to personal and perceived depression stigma. Conclusions The DSS appeared to show satisfactory psychometric properties in our sample of cancer patients. Both personal depression stigma and perceived depression stigma subscales consisted of two underlying aspects

    Source-reservoir rock assemblages and hydrocarbon accumulation models in the Middle-Lower Jurassic of eastern Sichuan Basin, China

    The eastern Sichuan Basin in China holds vast potential for oil and gas exploration in the Lower-Middle Jurassic strata. However, the geological characteristics and hydrocarbon accumulation patterns of this region remain largely unclear. During the deposition period of the Lower-Middle Jurassic strata, the eastern Sichuan is characterized by the formation of multiple sets of source, reservoir, and caprock assemblages through depositing lake-delta-fluvial deposits, which have great exploration potential. The Jurassic source rocks in eastern Sichuan are mainly developed in the Dongyuemiao Member, Da’anzhai Member, and Liangshan Formation. These source rocks have a total organic carbon (TOC) content greater than 1 and a varying range of organic matter maturity, with a Ro value of 0.8–2.0. The kerogen in these source rocks is primarily type II, with a smaller proportion being type III. A range of reservoir rocks can be found in the Jurassic strata of eastern Sichuan, with sandstone reservoirs being predominantly found in the Liangshan Formation, Shaximiao Formation, and Zhenzhuchong Member. Shale reservoirs are mostly present in the Dongyuemiao, Da’anzhai, Liangshan, and Maanshan Members, and there is a limited distribution of limestone reservoirs in the Da’anzhai Member and Dongyuemiao Formation. The arrangement of source rocks and reservoir rocks in eastern Sichuan has led to the formation of three types of reservoir-forming combinations, including lower generation and upper storage, self-generation and self-storage, and composite. Sandstone reservoirs are typically of lower generation and upper storage, shale reservoirs are primarily of self-generation and self-storage, and limestone reservoirs are mostly composite. The exploration of Jurassic oil and gas in eastern Sichuan should prioritize “layer and area selections.” The Da’anzhai, Dongyuemiao, and Liangshan shale reservoirs should be the primary exploration targets, with the semi-deep lake deposits in the syncline area being the most favorable. The degree of fracture development in the exploration area also has a significant impact on the shale oil and gas content. The Liangshan Formation and Shaximiao Formation sandstone reservoirs can serve as secondary exploration targets, with anticline areas that have better sealing conditions being more favorable. Limestone reservoirs have limited distribution, and exploration areas with high and steep fractures are relatively more advantageous
