    Analysis and evaluation of mobile rhythm games : Game structure and playability

    The rhythm game is an action simulation game adapted to the presented music. While it is expected to have an educational effect as a functional game, the relationship between the operability and rhythm education under the mobile platform is still questionable. In Korea, it seems that mobile rhythm game is a minority maniac genre that are played mostly among teenagers and early twenties. In this paper, we select three mobile rhythm games that are most played by Korean gamers in analysis. First, we analyze the user interface layout, note control, evaluation style and level of difficulty for three games – Deeno, Cytus, and Lanota. Then, we take a user survey in order to evaluate the playability of those games. All three games obtain high scores but there exust several statistically significant differences among games in analysis

    From Agasa Cristie to Group Image Play-Analysis of Horror Survival Game Panic Room : Escaping from the Den on Emotional Elements Development

    A maniac computer game genre called "Survival Horror Games‟ is aimed for making gamers feel cathartic feeling when they escaped from the designed horror successfully. The degree of gaming quality, however, is not easy to measure. In this paper, we apply Caillois‟ game playing categories and other standards to measure how a game induces the feeling of fear and other emotional experience to players. Once dominated horror survival game series called Panic Room: Escaping from the Den was chosen to analyze and evaluate with those standards as well as its narratives and subsystems. Especially the 2nd version was most welcomed to users among 4 versions thus we focused on the difference between the version 1 and the version 2 in terms of game playing and fear elements in the game content and story structure. In result, version 2 showed much more Agon and Mimicry and all other fear elements than version 1. The group image playing structure and conference/collection subsystem that were newly provided to version 2 were attributed to its success

    Comparative analysis of multiple classification models to improve PM10 prediction performance

    With the increasing requirement of high accuracy for particulate matter prediction, various attempts have been made to improve prediction accuracy by applying machine learning algorithms. However, the characteristics of particulate matter and the problem of the occurrence rate by concentration make it difficult to train prediction models, resulting in poor prediction. In order to solve this problem, in this paper, we proposed multiple classification models for predicting particulate matter concentrations required for prediction by dividing them into AQI-based classes. We designed multiple classification models using logistic regression, decision tree, SVM and ensemble among the various machine learning algorithms. The comparison results of the performance of the four classification models through error matrices confirmed the f-score of 0.82 or higher for all the models other than the logistic regression model

    Association of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Mutations with Metastatic Presentations in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

    We performed this retrospective study to assess the association of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) with metastatic presentations in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The data from 125 patients with stage III or IV NSCLC were analyzed. We detected EGFR mutations in 36 NSCLC patients. EGFR mutations were predominant in never-smokers (P < .001), patients with adenocarcinomas (P < .001), and female patients (P < .001). When the metastatic sites were analyzed, pleural metastases were associated with a high incidence of EGFR mutations (P = .028). Particularly, pleural metastases with minimal effusion (PMME) were associated with EGFR mutational status (P = .001). Patients with N3 lesions were less likely to harbor EGFR mutations (P = .033). On multivariate analysis, N3 lesions (P = .017) and PMME (P < .001) remained significant factors for EGFR mutations. EGFR mutations may be associated with different presentations of pleural and N3 nodal metastases

    Point-of-care ultrasound may reduce emergency department length of stay in children with nonspecific manifestations of intussusception

    Purpose To investigate whether performance of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) can reduce emergency department length of stay (EDLOS) for children with nonspecific manifestations of intussusception (NMI), defined as 2 or less manifestations of the classic triad of intussusception, and/or vomiting. Methods We reviewed medical records of 141 consecutive children with intussusception aged 6 years or younger who visited the emergency department of Asan Medical Center in Seoul, Korea from May 2014 through April 2016 and underwent diagnostic radiology ultrasound and pneumatic reduction. The children were grouped according to whether they underwent POCUS or not (POCUS and no POCUS groups, respectively). POCUS was performed to children with NMI by an attending emergency physician who had completed a POCUS training course endorsed by the Korean Society of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. We measured EDLOS, which consisted of door-to-reduction and observation times. These time intervals were compared between the 2 groups. Results Of 112 eligible children, 65 (58%) underwent POCUS. The median EDLOS was shorter in the POCUS group than in the no POCUS group (566 minutes, interquartile range [IQR] 497 to 765 vs. 745 minutes, IQR 551 to 981; P = 0.003). The median door-to-reduction and observation times were also shorter in the POCUS group (105 vs. 138 minutes, P < 0.001 and 440 vs. 628 minutes, P = 0.008, respectively). These differences were possibly due to the performance of POCUS and the trend toward early discharge after pneumatic reduction. We found 1 child with false negative result on POCUS, but there may have been more. Conclusion Performance of POCUS may reduce EDLOS in children with NMI

    Two-gap and paramagnetic pair-breaking effects on upper critical field of SmFeAsO0.85_{0.85} and SmFeAsO0.8_{0.8}F0.2_{0.2} single crystals

    We investigated the temperature dependence of the upper critical field [Hc2(T)H_{c2}(T)] of fluorine-free SmFeAsO0.85_{0.85} and fluorine-doped SmFeAsO0.8_{0.8}F0.2_{0.2} single crystals by measuring the resistive transition in low static magnetic fields and in pulsed fields up to 60 T. Both crystals show that Hc2(T)H_{c2}(T)'s along the c axis [Hc2c(T)H_{c2}^c(T)] and in an abab-planar direction [Hc2ab(T)H_{c2}^{ab}(T)] exhibit a linear and a sublinear increase, respectively, with decreasing temperature below the superconducting transition. Hc2(T)H_{c2}(T)'s in both directions deviate from the conventional one-gap Werthamer-Helfand-Hohenberg theoretical prediction at low temperatures. A two-gap nature and the paramagnetic pair-breaking effect are shown to be responsible for the temperature-dependent behavior of Hc2cH_{c2}^c and Hc2abH_{c2}^{ab}, respectively.Comment: 21 pages, 8 figure

    New Tubulocentric Insights for Diabetic Nephropathy: From Pathophysiology to Treatment

    The prevalence of diabetes is increasing worldwide, and one of the most important complications, diabetic nephropathy, constitutes a significant global health care and socioeconomic burden. Glomerular dysfunction is a major factor in the development and progression of diabetic nephropathy. However, emerging evidence suggests that tubular damage also plays an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy. This tubulocentric view shifts the focus markedly from glomeruli to proximal tubules, which might have an important role as a trigger or a driver in the early development and progression of diabetic nephropathy. Accordingly, numerous studies have focused on several different tubular damage markers that are clinically indicated as potential biomarkers for the early detection of diabetic nephropathy. Furthermore, these findings are relevant for identifying therapeutics for diabetic nephropathy that target the proximal tubules. This review outlines new tubulocentric insights into diabetic nephropathy, from pathophysiological mechanisms to diagnostic and therapeutic approaches
