    Possible Triplet Electron Pairing and an Anisotropic Spin Susceptibility in Organic Superconductors (TMTSF)_2 X

    We argue that (TMTSF)_2 PF_6 compound under pressure is likely a triplet superconductor with a vector order parameter d(k) \equiv (d_a(k) \neq 0, d_c(k) = ?, d_{b'}(k) = 0); |d_a(k)| > |d_c(k)|. It corresponds to an anisotropic spin susceptibility at T=0: \chi_{b'} = \chi_0, \chi_a \ll \chi_0, where \chi_0 is its value in a metallic phase. [The spin quantization axis, z, is parallel to a so-called b'-axis]. We show that the suggested order parameter explains why the upper critical field along the b'-axis exceeds all paramagnetic limiting fields, including that for a nonuniform superconducting state, whereas the upper critical field along the a-axis (a \perp b') is limited by the Pauli paramagnetic effects [I. J. Lee, M. J. Naughton, G. M. Danner and P. M. Chaikin, Phys. Rev. Lett. 78, 3555 (1997)]. The triplet order parameter is in agreement with the recent Knight shift measurements by I. J. Lee et al. as well as with the early results on a destruction of superconductivity by nonmagnetic impurities and on the absence of the Hebel-Slichter peak in the NMR relaxation rate.Comment: 4 pages, 1 eps figur

    Some Applications of the Lee-Yang Theorem

    For lattice systems of statistical mechanics satisfying a Lee-Yang property (i.e., for which the Lee-Yang circle theorem holds), we present a simple proof of analyticity of (connected) correlations as functions of an external magnetic field h, for Re h > 0 or Re h < 0. A survey of models known to have the Lee-Yang property is given. We conclude by describing various applications of the aforementioned analyticity in h.Comment: 16 page

    On the nonlinear statistics of range image patches

    In [A. B. Lee, K. S. Pedersen, and D. Mumford, Int. J. Comput. Vis., 54 (2003), pp. 83–103], the authors study the distributions of 3 × 3 patches from optical images and from range images. In [G. Carlsson, T. Ishkanov, V. de Silva, and A. Zomorodian, Int. J. Comput. Vis., 76 (2008), pp. 1–12], the authors apply computational topological tools to the data set of optical patches studied by Lee, Pedersen, and Mumford and find geometric structures for high density subsets. One high density subset is called the primary circle and essentially consists of patches with a line separating a light and a dark region. In this paper, we apply the techniques of Carlsson et al. to range patches. By enlarging to 5×5 and 7×7 patches, we find core subsets that have the topology of the primary circle, suggesting a stronger connection between optical patches and range patches than was found by Lee, Pedersen, and Mumford

    In a recent Letter Simon and Lee suggested a scaling law for thermodynamic and kinetic properties of superconductors with lines of gap nodes. However their crossover parameter between the bulk dominated regime and the vortex dominated regime is different from that found in our paper (N.B. Kopnin and G.E.     Explicit Presentations for the Dual Braid Monoids

    Birman, Ko and Lee have introduced a new monoid Bn{\cal B}^{*}_{n}--with an explicit presentation--whose group of fractions is the nn-strand braid group Bn{\cal B}_{n}. Building on a new approach by Digne, Michel and himself, Bessis has defined a {\it dual} braid monoid for every finite Coxeter type Artin-Tits group extending the type A case. Here, we give an explicit presentation for this dual braid monoid in the case of types B and D, and we study the combinatorics of the underlying Garside structures.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure

    Jenny Lee merupakan keramikus perempuan sekaligus pendidik seni keramik yang berasal dari Surabaya. Jenny Lee sering mengikuti pameran tunggal maupun bersama. Keunikan dari karya keramik Jenny Lee adalah terletak dari konsep dan gaya keramik yang dimiliki. Kepandaian Jenny Lee dalam berkeramik menjadikan dia sebagai dosen DKV mata kuliah art and craft dan interior di Universitas Ciputra. Fokus penelitian ini (1) latar belakang kehidupan Jenny Lee sebagai keramikus dan pendidik seni keramik di Sura- baya. (2) peran dan kontribusi Jenny Lee sebagai keramikus. (3) peran dan kontribusi Jenny Lee sebagai pendidik seni keramik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan (1) latar belakang kehidupan Jenny Lee sebagai keramikus dan pendidik seni keramik di Surabaya. (2) peran dan kontribusi Jenny Lee sebagai keramikus. (3) peran dan kontribusi Jenny Lee sebagai pendidik seni keramik. Penelitian ini adalah peneli- tian kualitatif dengan pendekatan life history. Kajian teorinya menggunakan agen Perubahan sosial. Lokasi penelitian ini di kediaman Jenny Lee tepatnya di daerah Kedurus gang IV/A, studio Keramik Jenny Lee tepatnya di jalan Laban Kulon gang 1 dan di Universitas Ciputra. Pengumpulan data ini melalui observasi, dokumentasi, wawancara. Temuan hasil penelitian ini berisi tentang kehidupan seorang Jenny Lee sebagai perempuan, keramikus dan pendidik seni keramik. Hal tersebut menjadikan ciri khas bagi Jenny Lee yang tidak dimiliki oleh seniman lain di Surabaya. Perempuan Tionghoa yang memiliki bakat berkeramik secara otodidak ini mampu membuat Jenny Lee dikenal sebagai salah satu seniman keramik di Indonesia yang menghasilkan karya-karya repro dengan mengkombinasikan budaya Indonesia dan Tionghoa. Teknik pembuatan keramik Jenny Lee menggunakan teknik pinch dan cetak sedangkan keeksistensian Jenny Lee sebagai seorang keramikus di Surabaya kurang begitu berkembang hingga akhirnya Jenny Lee memilih untuk menjadi seorang pendidik karena dengan mendidik akan mendapatkan income dan dapat mengenalkan serta menyalurkan bakat keramik yang dia miliki bagi masyarakat dan generasi muda yang membutuhkan referensi penelitian. Selain mendidik, Jenny Lee juga sebagai narasumber dalam workshop. Model pembela- jaran Jenny Lee menggunakan pendekatan studio dengan mengajak mahasiswa untuk melakukan proses berkarya keramik dalam studio
