Relativistic Coulomb Green's function in -dimensions
Using the operator method, the Green's functions of the Dirac and
Klein-Gordon equations in the Coulomb potential are derived for
the arbitrary space dimensionality . Nonrelativistic and quasiclassical
asymptotics of these Green's functions are considered in detail.Comment: 9 page
Physical interpretation of constants in the solutions to the Brans-Dicke equations
Using an energy-momentum complex we give a physical interpretation to the
constants in the well-known static spherically symmetric asymptotically flat
vacuum solution to the Brans-Dicke equations. The positivity of the tensor mass
puts a bound on parameters in the solution.Comment: 10 pages, RevTe

An Analysis of the Decay with Predictions from Heavy Quark and Chiral Symmetry
This paper considers the implications of the heavy quark and chiral
symmetries for the semi-leptonic decay . The general kinematic analysis for decays of the form {\sl
pseudoscalar meson vector meson pseudoscalar meson lepton
anti-lepton} is presented. This formalism is applied to the above exclusive
decay which allows the differential decay rate to be expressed in a form that
is ideally suited for the experimental determination of the different form
factors for the process through angular distribution measurements. Heavy quark
and chiral symmetry predictions for the form factors are presented, and the
differential decay rate is calculated in the kinematic region where chiral
perturbation theory is valid.Comment: 15 pages, uses jytex.tex and tables.tex; 3 figures not included but

Observation of vortices and hidden pseudogap from scanning tunneling spectroscopic studies of electron-doped cuprate superconductor
We present the first demonstration of vortices in an electron-type cuprate
superconductor, the highest (= 43 K) electron-type cuprate
. Our spatially resolved quasiparticle tunneling spectra
reveal a hidden low-energy pseudogap inside the vortex core and unconventional
spectral evolution with temperature and magnetic field. These results cannot be
easily explained by the scenario of pure superconductivity in the ground state
of high- superconductivity.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures. Two new graphs have been added into Figure 2.

r-modes in Relativistic Superfluid Stars
We discuss the modal properties of the -modes of relativistic superfluid
neutron stars, taking account of the entrainment effects between superfluids.
In this paper, the neutron stars are assumed to be filled with neutron and
proton superfluids and the strength of the entrainment effects between the
superfluids are represented by a single parameter . We find that the
basic properties of the -modes in a relativistic superfluid star are very
similar to those found for a Newtonian superfluid star. The -modes of a
relativistic superfluid star are split into two families, ordinary fluid-like
-modes (-mode) and superfluid-like -modes (-mode). The two
superfluids counter-move for the -modes, while they co-move for the
-modes. For the -modes, the quantity is
almost independent of the entrainment parameter , where and
are the azimuthal wave number and the oscillation frequency observed by an
inertial observer at spatial infinity, respectively. For the -modes, on
the other hand, almost linearly increases with increasing . It
is also found that the radiation driven instability due to the -modes is
much weaker than that of the -modes because the matter current associated
with the axial parity perturbations almost completely vanishes.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures. To appear in Physical Review
Evidence of environmental strains on charge injection in silole based organic light emitting diodes
Using d. functional theory (DFT) computations, the authors demonstrated a
substantial skeletal relaxation when the structure of
2,5-bis-[4-anthracene-9-yl-phenyl]-1,1-dimethyl-3,4-diphenyl-silole (BAS) is
optimized in the gas-phase comparing with the mol. structure detd. from
monocrystal x-ray diffraction. The origin of such a relaxation is explained by
a strong environmental strains induced by the presence of anthracene entities.
Also, the estn. of the frontier orbital levels showed that this structural
relaxation affects mainly the LUMO that is lowered of 190 meV in the gas phase.
To check if these theor. findings would be confirmed for thin films of BAS, the
authors turned to UV photoemission spectroscopy and/or inverse photoemission
spectroscopy and electrooptical measurements. The study of the c.d. or voltage
and luminance or voltage characteristics of an ITO/PEDOT/BAS/Au device clearly
demonstrated a very unusual temp.-dependent behavior. Using a thermally
assisted tunnel transfer model, this behavior likely originated from the
variation of the electronic affinity of the silole deriv. with the temp. The
thermal agitation relaxes the mol. strains in thin films as it is shown when
passing from the cryst. to the gas phase. The relaxation of the intramol. thus
induces an increase of the electronic affinity and, as a consequence, the more
efficient electron injection in org. light-emitting diodes
Two blowing concepts for roll and lateral control of aircraft
Two schemes to modulate aerodynamic forces for roll and lateral control of aircraft have been investigated. The first scheme, called the lateral blowing concept, consists of thin jets of air exiting spanwise, or at small angle with the spanwise direction, from slots at the tips of straight wings. For this scheme, in addition to experimental measurements, a theory was developed showing the analytical relationship between aerodynamic forces and jet and wing parameters. Experimental results confirmed the theoretically derived scaling laws. The second scheme, which was studied experimentally, is called the jet spoiler concept and consists of thin jets exiting normally to the wing surface from slots aligned with the spanwise direction
Electron shielding of the nuclear magnetic moment in hydrogen-like atom
The correction to the wave function of the ground state in a hydrogen-like
atom due to an external homogenous magnetic field is found exactly in the
parameter . The projection of the correction to the wave
function of the state due to the external homogeneous magnetic field
is found for arbitrary . The projection of the correction to the
wave function of the state due to the nuclear magnetic moment is
also found for arbitrary . Using these results, we have calculated the
shielding of the nuclear magnetic moment by the electron.Comment: 15 page
