    Preliminary evidence for the psychophysiological effects of technologic feature in e-commerce

    As information and communication technologies are advanced, consumers are now able to enhance their e-commerce experiences regardless the channel, and it leads fashion retailers to develop better innovative experiential strategy to secure sustainable competency. The purpose of this study is to focus on apparel website to investigate the effect of branded contents on consumer\u27s pleasure and arousal that in turn may influence consumer\u27s response behaviors. This study employed S-O-R paradigm which explains that consumers\u27 inner organisms change according to the exposed external stimulation, and the changes antedate behavioral responses. Pleasure and arousal were measured with BioPAC MP150, which indicates the changes of electromyogram (EMG: pleasure), galvanic skin reflex (GSR: arousal), and heart rate (HR: pleasure) follow by the self-reported survey about behavioral responses. This study found that the effect for e-commerce\u27s branded content video on consumer\u27s response is indirect, and change of arousal is an indicator of hedonic shopping behavior

    Since the 1960s in-store atmospheric stimuli (e.g. color, music, and scent) have been investigated in the fashion retailing literature by reason of the great influence on consumers\u27 emotion and purchase behavior. Moreover, to increase consumers\u27 positive emotion, the experience economy by Pine and Gilmore (1999) indicates the importance of consumers\u27 in-store experiences. Enhancing consumer experience often links to in-store design aspects. To maximize consumers\u27 experience, various retailers try to adopt technology such as digital display, touch screen, augmented reality space and 3D virtual model in an offline store. Entering the era of omni-channel as seamless integrated channel from multi-channel retail environment, this study is considerably significant in that in-store experience affect customers\u27 online behavior. Technology has steadily and rapidly developed, and the use of technology in fashion retail will likely continue to spread. However, there are only few studies on the effect of technological atmosphere of a store on consumer behavior. This study, therefore, aims to identify the influence of technological atmospheric fashion store on consumer behavior including online behavior intention and purchase intention. This research demonstrates the pivotal role of in-store technology application in that purchase enhancement or an effect of e-word-of-mouth by sharing one\u27s experience. Also, it can even redound to products at stores. Hence, from the practical standpoint, implementing innovative technology features enhances customers\u27 positive attitude toward stores and products as well as the online application intention

    Audience reconstructed: social media interaction by BTS fans during live stream concerts

    COVID-19-motivated social distancing made online concerts common practice in 2020 and 2021, with millions logging into streaming sites to see their favorite artists perform in realtime. For some fans, watching alone at home may have been enough, but concert-concurrent surges of social media activity suggest many virtual performance attendees are doing more. To understand why fans would turn their attention from these precious performance streams to social media, we explored Twitter engagement during four live streamed concerts performed by the Kpop group BTS in 2021. In public Tweets sampled by either concert hashtag or a predefined stream of users and keywords, we evaluated patterns in posting rates in relation to concert program events and investigated the content patterns in 1,200 Tweets sampled from four ranges of popularity (number of Retweets during the concert). Across concerts, short “Shout” Tweets surged at the start of songs, while the rate of retweets often fell during musical performances and shot up when BTS was off stage. Content analysis on the subsample found the materials most widely shared were informational or featured concert visuals, mimicking how fans use their phones at in-person concerts. Most original posts received few Retweets and were more personal and expressive of admiration for the performers. Comparison between the samples (concert hashtag vs. stream) also suggests users were strategic in using or omitting official concert hashtags with the strongest differences in the most widely disseminated content. Postings on Twitter during these performances seemed principally directed to fellow fans and audience members, by individuals choosing to share their own excitement and check in with others. By leveraging their existing social media networks, these concert attendees constructed a collective and interactive concert space, connecting with friends and strangers in the crowd and helping each other capture a richer experience than any broadcasting platform currently supports

    Anatomical evaluation of CT-MRI combined femoral model

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Both CT and MRI are complementary to each other in that CT can produce a distinct contour of bones, and MRI can show the shape of both ligaments and bones. It will be ideal to build a CT-MRI combined model to take advantage of complementary information of each modality. This study evaluated the accuracy of the combined femoral model in terms of anatomical inspection.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Six normal porcine femora (180 ± 10 days, 3 lefts and 3 rights) with ball markers were scanned by CT and MRI. The 3D/3D registration was performed by two methods, i.e. the landmark-based 3 points-to-3 points and the surface matching using the iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm. The matching accuracy of the combined model was evaluated with statistical global deviation and locally measure anatomical contour-based deviation. Statistical analysis to assess any significant difference between accuracies of those two methods was performed using univariate repeated measures ANOVA with the Turkey post hoc test.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>This study revealed that the local 2D contour-based measurement of matching deviation was 0.5 ± 0.3 mm in the femoral condyle, and in the middle femoral shaft. The global 3D contour matching deviation of the landmark-based matching was 1.1 ± 0.3 mm, but local 2D contour deviation through anatomical inspection was much larger as much as 3.0 ± 1.8 mm.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Even with human-factor derived errors accumulated from segmentation of MRI images, and limited image quality, the matching accuracy of CT-&-MRI combined 3D models was 0.5 ± 0.3 mm in terms of local anatomical inspection.</p

    Trends in Cancer Screening Rates among Korean Men and Women: Results from the Korean National Cancer Screening Survey (KNCSS), 2004-2010

    PURPOSE: The Korean National Cancer Screening Survey (KNCSS) is a continuous nationwide survey implemented by the National Cancer Center in Korea since 2004. The purpose of the present study was to report trends in cancer screening rates for the five major cancers (stomach, liver, colorectal, breast, and cervix uteri) in Korean men and women. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study used KNCSS data collected between 2004 and 2010. The survey was conducted on Korean men aged 40-74 years and Korean women aged 30-74 years with no history of cancer diagnosis. The annual percentage change and corresponding 95% confidence intervals were used to examine changes in annual screening rates. RESULTS: Screening rates with recommendation increased by 4.4% annually for stomach cancer, 1.5% for liver cancer, 2.8% per year for colorectal cancer, 4.5% for breast cancer, and 1.2% for cervix uteri cancer. The increasing trend in cancer screening rates, with the exception of liver cancer, was significant. CONCLUSION: Cancer screening rates have increased consistently from 2004 to 2010 among Korean men and women. Stomach and breast cancer screening rates in particular have increased markedly.ope

    Skin care benefits of bioactive compounds isolated from Zanthoxylum piperitum DC. (Rutaceae)

    Purpose: To investigate skin care efficacies of Zanthoxylum pipetitum extract and isolated compounds. Methods: Ethanol extracts of leaves, branches and fruits of what were partitioned into n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol and aqueous layers and some fractions were further analyzed to isolate five compounds. The isolated compounds were identified based on the proton and carbon nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra. Cosmetic efficacy tests of the extracts and isolated compounds were evaluated by in vitro tests. Results: Phytochemical studies of the chloroform and ethyl acetate layers led to the isolation of five compounds; quercitrin (1), afzelin (2), hydroxy-α-sanshool (3), α-sanshool (4) and hyperoside (5). In activity tests, the extracts showed inhibitory activity against inflammation response and melanin synthesis, and induction of procollagen type I C-peptide (PIP). Among the isolated compounds, hydroxy-α-sanshool (3) and α-sanshool (4) displayed significant anti-inflammatory activity. Conclusion: The results demonstrate that Z. piperitum extract and its active compounds possess a significant potential as a cosmeeutical agent for enhancing skin quality

    Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) L promotes DNA damage-induced cell apoptosis by enhancing the translation of p53

    The tumor suppressor p53 is an essential gene in the induction of cell cycle arrest, DNA repair, and apoptosis. p53 protein is induced under cellular stress, blocking cell cycle progression and inducing DNA repair. Under DNA damage conditions, it has been reported that post-transcriptional regulation of p53 mRNA contributes to the increase in p53 protein level. Here we demonstrate that heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) L enhances p53 mRNA translation. We found that hnRNP L is increased and binds to the 5&apos; UTR of p53 mRNA in response to DNA damage. Increased hnRNP L caused enhancement of p53 mRNA translation. Conversely, p53 protein levels were decreased following hnRNP L knock-down, rendering them resistant to apoptosis and arrest in the G2/M phase after DNA damage. Thus, our findings suggest that hnRNP L functions as a positive regulator of p53 translation and promotes cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.11Ysciescopu

    Piezoelectric energy harvesting using solar radiation pressure enhanced by surface plasmons at visible to near-infrared wavelengths

    A light-pressure electric generator (LPEG) device, which harvests piezoelectric energy using solar radiation enhanced by surface plasmons (SPs), is demonstrated. The design of the device is motivated by the need to drastically increase the power output of existing piezoelectric devices based on SP resonance. The solar radiation pressure can be used as an energy source by employing an indium tin oxide (ITO)/Ag double layer to excite the SPs in the near-infrared (NIR) and visible light regions. The LPEG with the ITO layer generates an open-circuit voltage of 295 mV, a short-circuit current of 3.78 μA, and a power of 532.3 μW cm−2 under a solar simulator. The power of the LPEG device incorporating the ITO layer increased by 38% compared to the device without the ITO layer. The effect of the ITO layer on the electrical output of the LPEG was analyzed in detail by measuring the electrical output when visible and NIR lights are incident on the device using optical bandpass filters. In addition, finite-difference time-domain simulation confirmed that the pressure of the incident light can be further amplified by the ITO/Ag double layer. Finally, the energy harvested from the LPEG was stored in capacitors to successfully illuminate red light-emitting diodes
