Link between interlayer hybridization and ultrafast charge transfer in WS2-graphene heterostructures

Ultrafast charge separation after photoexcitation is a common phenomenon in various van-der-Waals (vdW) heterostructures with great relevance for future applications in light harvesting and detection. Theoretical understanding of this phenomenon converges towards a coherent mechanism through charge transfer states accompanied by energy dissipation into strongly coupled phonons. The detailed microscopic pathways are material specific as they sensitively depend on the band structures of the individual layers, the relative band alignment in the heterostructure, the twist angle between the layers, and interlayer interactions resulting in hybridization. We used time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy combined with tight binding and density functional theory electronic structure calculations to investigate ultrafast charge separation and recombination in WS2-graphene vdW heterostructures. We identify several avoided crossings in the band structure and discuss their relevance for ultrafast charge transfer. We relate our own observations to existing theoretical models and propose a unified picture for ultrafast charge transfer in vdW heterostructures where band alignment and twist angle emerge as the most important control parameters

    Argentinian digital health strategy

Digital Health is one of the three pillars for the effective implementation of Universal Health Coverage in Argentina. The Ministry of Health published the National Digital Health Strategy 2018-2024 in order to establish the conceptual guidelines for the design and development of interoperable health information systems as a state policy. The World Health Organization "National eHealth Strategy Toolkit", "Global Strategy on Digital Health" and other international and local evidence and expert recommendations were taken into account. The path to better healthcare involves adopting systems at the point of care, allowing for the primary recording of information and enabling information exchange through real interoperability. In that way, people, technology and processes will synergize to enhance integrated health service networks. In this paper, we describe the plan and the first two years of implementation of the strategy.Fil: Rizzato Lede, Daniel A.. Ministerio de Salud de la Nación; ArgentinaFil: Pedernera, Federico A.. Evidence for perinatal and child health care guidelines in crisis settings: can Cochrane help?

Abstract

Background

It is important that healthcare provided in crisis settings is based on the best available research evidence. We reviewed guidelines for child and perinatal health care in crisis situations to determine whether they were based on research evidence, whether Cochrane systematic reviews were available in the clinical areas addressed by these guidelines and whether summaries of these reviews were provided in Evidence Aid.

Methods

Broad internet searches were undertaken to identify relevant guidelines. Guidelines were appraised using AGREE and the clinical areas that were relevant to perinatal or child health were extracted. We searched The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews to identify potentially relevant reviews. For each review we determined how many trials were included, and how many were conducted in resource-limited settings.

Results

Six guidelines met selection criteria. None of the included guidelines were clearly based on research evidence. 198 Cochrane reviews were potentially relevant to the guidelines. These reviews predominantly addressed nutrient supplementation, breastfeeding, malaria, maternal hypertension, premature labour and prevention of HIV transmission. Most reviews included studies from developing settings. However for large portions of the guidelines, particularly health services delivery, there were no relevant reviews. Only 18 (9.1%) reviews have summaries in Evidence Aid.

Conclusions

We did not identify any evidence-based guidelines for perinatal and child health care in disaster settings. We found many Cochrane reviews that could contribute to the evidence-base supporting future guidelines. However there are important issues to be addressed in terms of the relevance of the available reviews and increasing the number of reviews addressing health care delivery.</p

CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS ON KOMPAS DAILY NEWSPAPER REPORT ON PROFITEERING THROUGH THE NAMES OF PRESIDENT JOKOWI AND VICE PRESIDENT JUSUF KALLA

The objectives of this study were to (1) describe the structure of Kompas daily news texts about the profiteering of the names of Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla, (2) to explain the mental consciousness of journalists forming daily Kompas texts about profiteering the names of Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla, and (3) to explain the social context influencing the formation of Kompas daily texts about the profiteering of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla. The method used in this research was qualitative research method. The data used in this research was news texts from Kompas daily newspaper, which reported about the case of profiteering of the name of Indonesian President and Vice President. Data collection method employed was literature study. The data in was analyzed with the orientation of analytic descriptive method. The results of data analysis showed that at the level of macro structure, superstructure, and micro structure, the global meaning of discourse developed in the news is about the settlement of cases of profiteering of the President and Vice President. The act of profiteering on the name of Indonesian President and Vice President was judged only to delegitimize the authority of the President and Vice President and state institutions. Meanwhile, the journalist's mental awareness that formed the Kompas daily news texts includes role schemes and event schemes. While the social context that influenced the formation of the discourse of naming consists of power and access. The ideology reflected in Kompas daily news texts is Pancasila

Fatal outcome of Bacillus cereus septicaemia

Bacillus cereus is a ubiquitous environmental micro-organism which is often a contaminant of clinical cultures. Infections due to B. cereus are described, but mostly in immunocompromised patients. We report a fatal outcome of B. cereus septicaemia in an immunocompetent patient with a mechanical mitral valv

    Herpes Zoster after COVID-vaccination

COVID-19 presents in various ways, but mainly as a pulmonary disease (Marzano, 2020). Skin manifestations have been reported, including reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (Marzano, 2020). Our case report describes two adults developing herpes zoster after vaccination with tozinameran (the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 mRNA vaccine). A possible cause for this reaction is a transient lymphocytopenia that occurs after the vaccination — similar to that in COVID-19 disease (Mulligan, 2020; Wang, 2020; Qin, 2020; Brabilla, 2020; Wang, 2020; Wei, 2017). In the context of vaccinating older and/or immunocompromised adults, our observations can be the starting point for further evaluation of a possible relationship between COVID-19, COVID vaccines, and herpes zoster
