    Cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy study of 1.5 MeV Kr+Kr+ irradiation-induced amorphization in α-quartz

    Cross-sectional and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (XTEM and HRTEM, respectively) have been used to characterize ion-beam-induced amorphization of α-quartz irradiated with 1.5 MeV Kr+Kr+ ions at room temperature. The accumulation of damage and the growth of the amorphous layers in quartz were studied as a function of ion fluence up to 1.7×10141.7×1014 ions/cm2.ions/cm2. An amorphous band was first observed at the peak displacement damage range, and this region increased in width with increasing ion fluence. These results demonstrate that direct displacement damage by nuclear collision is more efficient than ionization processes in inducing amorphization in quartz. At lower fluences ( ⩽ 1.7×1013(⩽1.7×1013 ions/cm2),ions/cm2), the damage profile observed by XTEM is in excellent agreement with the distribution of displacement damage predicted by TRIM calculations.     The influences of cognition of institutional logics and triple helix relations on innovation performance: An empirical study of firms in industrial park in Taiwan

    Abstract. The present study set out to investigate into the influences of cognition of institutional logics and triple helix relationships (i.e., the industry-university-government linkages) on firm innovation performance in the context of Taiwan industrial parks. The data from 131 organizational-level questionnaires collected from firms located in different industrial parks were analyzed. The results showed that cognition of institutional logics is positively associated with firms’ innovation performance. Furthermore, such positive relationship is strengthened by the number of triple helix relationships in the form of mediation but not moderation effect.     The influences of perceived organizational slacks on firms’ satisfaction in industrial park service: Moderation effect of park attributes and administrative supports

    Abstract. This study examines the effect of perceived organizational slack on firms’ satisfaction in services offered by industrial park. Survey questionnaires were collected from 131 firms located in various industrial parks in Taiwan. Results supports that, first, perceived organizational slack is negatively related to firms’ satisfaction in industrial park’s services. Moreover, the strengths of such negative relationships were differentiated due to the moderation effect of different park attributes and administrative supports.     Development of Magnetic Field-enhanced Vacuum Arc Deposition in China

    This paper reviews the latest research and development in China for magnetic field-enhanced vacuum arc deposition (MFE-VAD). China has developed some new technologies in MFE-VAD. These technologies are all based on the interaction between the magnetic field and cathode arc spot (and arc plasma). An external magnetic field can be applied to steer the cathode spot motion including axisymmetric magnetic field (AMF), transverse rotating magnetic field (TRMF) and coupling magnetic field (CMF). The transverse component of AFM can accelerate the cathode spot motion. The TRMF covered the whole cathode was generated by stationary three-phase windings carrying three-phase alternating currents. The CMF was designed to improve the increasing of plasma density and the collisions between ion and droplet-particls (DPs) charging, and as well as further purify the DPs
