Accuracy of reporting food energy intake: influence of ethnicity and body weight status in South African women
The current study sought to identify characteristics that may be associated with the misreporting of food energy intake (EI) in urban South African women. A total of 198 women (61 black, 76 of mixed ancestry, 61 white) completed a quantified food frequency questionnaire, from which daily energy and macronutrient intake were calculated. Body composition (body mass index [BMI], percentage of body fat), body image (Feel-Ideal Difference index and Body Shape questions) and socio-economic status (SES) (household density and asset index) were also measured. Food EI in relation to estimated basal metabolic rate ratio that was less than 1.05 represented under-reporting, whereas a ratio greater than 2.28 represented over-reporting. Results suggested that 26% of the participants under-reported, 64% adequately reported and 10% over-reported. Participants who under-reported had a higher BMI (p < 0.01) and higher percentage of body fat (p < 0.05) than those who adequately and over-reported. The majority of under-reporters were black (38%) versus 21% under-reporters of mixed ancestry and 20% white under-reporters (p < 0.01). Eighty-three per cent of black under-reporters were obese. On the other hand, a majority (63%) of overweight women of mixed ancestry and a majority (50%) of white normal-weight women under-reported their food EI. Under-reporters reported a lower intake of dietary fat (p < 0.01) and a higher intake of dietary protein (p < 0.01) than adequate or over-reporters. Food EI reporting was not influenced by SES or body image. In conclusion, results suggest that food EI reporting is influenced by body size, and may be ethnic-specific in South African women.Keywords: South African women; misreporting; energy intake; body image; socioeconomic statu
Validity and reliability of a physical activity/inactivity questionnaire in South African primary schoolgirls
Objective. We sought to determine the validity and reliability of a self-report physical activity questionnaire (PAQ) measuring physical activity/inactivity in South African
schoolgirls of different ethnic origins.
Methods. Construct validity of the PAQ was tested against physical activity energy expenditure estimated from an ACTIVITYGRAM and inactivity from reported television
programme viewing in 332 girls (ages 9 - 12 yrs, grades 4 - 5). Body composition (WHO BMI percentiles and percentage body fat) was used as an indirect measure
of validity for the PAQ. Test-retest reliability of the PAQ was assessed in a convenience sample of 14 girls.
Results. Weak but significant associations were found between the body composition and PAQ-derived total energy expenditure (r=-0.18;
Constraints on Automorphic Forms of Higher Derivative Terms from Compactification
By dimensionally reducing the higher derivative corrections of
ten-dimensional IIB theory on a torus we deduce constraints on the E_{n+1}
automorphic forms that occur in d=10-n dimensions. In particular we argue that
these automorphic forms involve the representation of E_{n+1} with fundamental
weight \lambda^{n+1}, which is also the representation to which the string
charges in d dimensions belong. We also consider a similar calculation for the

Higher derivative type II string effective actions, automorphic forms and E11
By dimensionally reducing the ten-dimensional higher derivative type IIA
string theory effective action we place constraints on the automorphic forms
that appear in the effective action in lower dimensions. We propose a number of
properties of such automorphic forms and consider the prospects that E11 can
play a role in the formulation of the higher derivative string theory effective

On Effective Action of Multiple M5-branes and ABJM Action
We calculate the fluctuations from the classical multiple M5-brane solution
of ABJM action which we found in the previous paper. We obtain D4-brane-like
action but the gauge coupling constant depends on the spacetime coordinate.
This is consistent with the expected properties of M5-brane action, although we
will need to take into account the monopole operators in order to fully
understand M5-branes. We also see that the Nambu-Poisson bracket is hidden in

Higgsing M2 to D2 with gravity: N=6 chiral supergravity from topologically gauged ABJM theory
We present the higgsing of three-dimensional N=6 superconformal ABJM type
theories coupled to conformal supergravity, so called topologically gauged ABJM
theory, thus providing a gravitational extension of previous work on the
relation between N M2 and N D2-branes. The resulting N=6 supergravity theory
appears at a chiral point similar to that of three-dimensional chiral gravity
introduced recently by Li, Song and Strominger, but with the opposite sign for
the Ricci scalar term in the lagrangian. We identify the supersymmetry in the
broken phase as a particular linear combination of the supersymmetry and
special conformal supersymmetry in the original topologically gauged ABJM
theory. We also discuss the higgsing procedure in detail paying special
attention to the role played by the U(1) factors in the original ABJM model and
the U(1) introduced in the topological gauging.Comment: 53 pages, Late
Genetic gains for heat tolerance in potato in three cycles of recurrent selection
Practically all potato cultivars grown in Brazil are native to Europe and not fully adapted to the tropical conditions.The purpose of this study was to estimate the genetic gains of three cycles of recurrent selection for heat tolerance in potato. The basepopulation in this study consisted of five Brazilian and five heat-tolerant clones. In the winter of 2006 and rainy growing season of 2007 103 clones were evaluated (eight clones of the base population, 29 of the first cycle, 32 and 30 of the second and third recurrent selection cycle, respectively, and four control cultivars). The genetic gains for tuber traits in both growing seasons were 37.8 %(yield), 13.0 % (weight), 32.4 % (percent of large tubers), 0.8 % (tuber specific gravity) and 16.6 % (general tuber appearance).The percentage of physiological disorders (second-growth tubers and cracking) was also reduced by selection

We calculate the superconformal Witten index for the Chern-Simons-matter
theory which was proposed to describe multiple M2-branes on . We
consider a variant of this model, which exhibits explicit N=3 supersymmetry and
has the advantage of not having an exotic branch of the moduli space. At ,
we compare the index with that from the proposed gravity dual and find a
