SA HUYNH REGIONAL AND INTER-REGIONAL INTERACTIONS IN THE THU BON VALLEY, QUANG NAM PROVINCE, CENTRAL VIETNAM
Around 500 BC, the introduction of iron working technology
caused radical changes in social structure in both
mainland and insular Southeast Asia. The most important
phenomenon, which had strong impacts in all aspects of
life, was the transformation from small and egalitarian to
large and complex societies. This complexity laid the
foundations for the emergence and development of early
states in the area. The causes and dynamics of these
processes were various in nature and included both
internal and external elements. Using site and artefact
distributions in the Thu Bon Valley, one of the largest and
most fertile riverine areas in the whole of central Vietnam,
we examine the nature and evolution of regional and
inter–regional interaction between Sa Huynh communities
and the outside world, especially with the Han Chinese,
the Dong Son of northern Vietnam, and contemporary
cultures in South and Southeast Asia

Pesticide poisoning of farm workers : implications of blood test results from Vietnam
In this paper, the authors have assessed the incidence and determinants of pesticide poisoning among rice farmers in Vietnam's Mekong Delta. Blood cholinesterase tests suggest that the incidence of poisoning from exposure to organophosphates and carbamates is quite high in Vietnam. Using the medical test results as benchmarks, the authors find that farmers'self-reported symptoms have very weak associations with actual poisoning. Regression analysis of blood tests reveals a lower incidence of poisoning for farmers who avoid the most toxic pesticides and use protective items. The authors also find very large provincial differences in poisoning incidence after they control for individual factors. The results highlight the potential importance of negative externalities, and suggest that future research on pesticide-related damage should include information on local water, air, and soil contamination.Pest Management,Crops&Crop Management Systems,Sustainable Land and Crop Management,Health Monitoring&Evaluation,Agricultural Research
Environment Scanning Strategies of Private Education Centers in Singapore
Environment scanning is an information-rich activity which helps organizations to survive in a competitive business environment. The main objective of this study was to investigate perceptions of private education centres in Singapore of the importance of environment scanning for their business success, strategies used for gathering information about business factors, frequency of information collection, and processing and utilization of the gathered information. Data from 40 private education centres was collected through a questionnaire. It was found that most of the environment scanning activities were conducted regularly by the surveyed centres, except the step of information processing and distribution. Among various business factors, information about customers and immediate competitors were perceived to be more important than other factors. Based on the findings, it is suggested that organizations should use a variety of information sources to have a more comprehensive understanding of their business environments. They should also recruit adequately trained information professionals to systematically conduct environment scanning activities

The trend of socio-economic development, the industrialization and modernization of the country,
and the industrial revolution 4.0 have led to many changes today. Breakthroughs align with the above
context in the fields, especially education and training. In particular, the lecturers are one of the
decisive factors for the success of education and training. In addition, science and technology have
made great strides, placing strict requirements on high-quality technology and human resources.

according to the competency approach. Thus, meeting the training process's requirements creates
high-quality technologyhuman resources. In recent years, the development of lecturers has been paid
special attention by the technologyand pedagogical universities of the Ministry of Labor, War
Invalids, and Social Affairs and achieved specific results. However, there are still many things that
could be improved. Limitations: The specific competency framework of the lecturers has not been
developed, the faculty capacity development has not been focused, the recruitment and use of
lecturers are still ineffective, the appointment of lecturers going to study to improve qualifications
still has many shortcomings, there are no appropriate sanctions to manage lecturers, especially highly
qualified lecturers; The examination and evaluation of lecturers are not focused, the pressure on
lecturers to train themselves is not high, the screening of cadres lacks a basis. Based on the current
situation of developing lecturers at the technologyand pedagogical universities of the Ministry of

effectiveness of this work
ENGLISH TEACHERS’ QUESTIONS IN A VIETNAMESE HIGH SCHOOL READING CLASSROOM
Recently, developing students’ thinking, especially critical thinking (CT), has become a hot issue. Critical thinking has been claimed to have an important impact on learners’ reading comprehension because it can help them analyze, evaluate, construct their thinking, solving problems and reasoning (Ennis, 1989). However, the extent that teachers’ classroom activities contribute to developing students’ critical thinking has rarely been researched. The current case study was conducted with six EFL high school teachers and 10 reading lessons in Vietnam to explore the teachers’ use of questions and to analyze if these questions could facilitate the students’ critical thinking. Classroom observations and the cognitive domain of Bloom’s taxonomy were adapted as the research instruments. The study results reveal common types of questions are often used by high school teachers in their reading lessons. Suggestions are made on types of questions that teachers should function more in their class in order to enhance students’ critical thinking
Review of Higher Education Policies during Pandemic Covid-19: A Vietnamese Perspective
The pandemic caused by Covid-19 has encouraged significant changes in higher education. Training
curricula at universities have been adjusted to adapt to the blended learning model for the past two
years in Vietnam. This paper is a qualitative analysis of higher education policies during the Covid-19
pandemic. The authors have based on data collected from universities combined with interviewing
experts to evaluate the effectiveness of policies applied in Vietnam. In addition, the paper also
analyzes the difficulties that universities face in ensuring the quality of training and enrollment
sources during a pandemic. Research results also show that Vietnam is facing fundamental challenges
in higher education. The higher education system must build a foundation for reforming online
training programs and innovating university governance. Finally, the paper also proposes strategic
education policies in developing the higher education system to meet the requirements of the Fourth
Industrial Revolution
