Testing Static Trade-off Against Pecking Order Models of Capital Structure

    Get PDF
This paper tests traditional capital structure models against the alternative of a pecking order model of corporate financing. The basic pecking order model, which predicts external debt financing driven by the internal financial deficit, has much greater explanatory power than a static trade-off model which predicts that each firm adjusts toward an optimal debt ratio. We show that the power of some usual tests of the trade-off model is virtually nil. We question whether the available empirical evidence supports the notion of an optimal debt ratio.

Objectives:Modified Gain Extended Kalman Filter (MGEKF) created by Song and Speyer [1] was turned out to be appropriate calculation for points just detached target following applications in air. Methods:As of late, roughly altered increases are displayed, which are numerically steady and exact [2]. In this paper, this enhanced MGEKF calculation is investigated for submerged applications with a few changes. Results:In submerged, the commotion in the estimations is high, turning rate of the stages is low and speed of the stages is likewise low when contrasted and the rockets in air. These attributes of the stage are concentrated on in detail and the calculation is adjusted appropriately to track applications in submerged.Conclusions:Monte-Carlo analysis comes about for two run of the mill situations are introduced with the end goal of clarification. From the outcomes it is watched that this calculation is especially reasonable for this nonlinear edges just detached target following

Background: Pre-eclampsia includes elevated blood pressure after 20 weeks of gestation with proteinuria. It constitutes the major reason behind maternal mortality in developing countries. It is one of the major reasons of maternal mortality and morbidity having greater effect on fetal morbidity and mortality also. The objectives of the study were to study the echocardiography changes in severe pre-eclampsia; to determine the left ventricular (LV) dysfunction in pre-eclamptic women by measuring the LV systolic and diastolic indices using echocardiography; to compare normal and abnormal ECHO findings in severe pre-eclampsia in terms of maternal and perinatal outcome. Methods: Prospective observational study conducted in department of obstetrics and gynaecology, Government Theni medical college from August 2019 to October 2020 to study normal and abnormal echocardiography changes in severe pre-eclamptic patients and to study maternal and fetal outcome in those two groups. Results: LV systolic function was within normal limits in our control and study group population of severe pre-eclampsia. Statistically significant LV diastolic dysfunction was seen Pulmonary edema and cardiac failure did not occur in any patient of our study population. Conclusions: From our study of ECHO in severe pre-eclampsia patients we came to a conclusion that left ventricular dysfunction occurs in many of the patients with severe pre-eclampsia and identification of diastolic dysfunction at an early stage could be of much use in preventing the complication which can arise due to the cardiac problems

Students’ Perception towards Online Learning across Multiple Disciplinary Courses in India—A Qualitative Analysis

    Get PDF
Online learning has become essential to the teaching and learning approach during the pandemic. Due to its enormous benefits, online or e-learning can be sustained. The acceptability of online or e-learning depends on the student’s perception and the availability of infrastructure. Data from various streams and age groups has been collected from students in different institutions. After collecting the data, this research incorporates descriptive statistics for a thorough analysis and utilizes the Chi-square test to provide scientific evidence. This study finds that the majority of final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students support online education. The student’s economic status affects their preference for online or e-learning. Having a smart device and internet access also influence the decision to pursue online or e-learning. Gender is positively associated with access to Internet facilities and has a cascading effect on preferences for online or e-learning. Female students prefer online classes but require additional internet resources. Higher education institutions could enhance their online course offerings by targeting specific groups, such as female students for postgraduate programs, if they could better understand their preferences. Even though some existing studies in the literature have examined the Indian scenario to understand the factors influencing the adoption of online education, none of these studies have considered the fundamental need for online or e-learning. Moreover, the preferences were not studied based on different demographics. This research work has collected and utilized data from various educational disciplines across multiple institutes, marking the first endeavor of its kind in the literature

Detection Of Phishing Websites And Secure Transactions

Phishing is an electronic online identity theft in which the attackers use a combination of social engineering and web site spoofing techniques to trick a user into revealing confidential information. It steals the user’s personal identity data and financial credentials. Most of the phishing attacks emerge as spoofed E-Mails appearing as legitimate ones which makes the users to trust and divulge into them by clicking the link provided in the E-Mail. To detect a Phishing website, human experts compare the claimed identity of a website with features in the website. For example, human experts often compare the domain name in the URL against the claimed identity. Most legitimate websites have domain names that match their identities, while Phishing websites usually have less relevance between their domain names and their claimed (fake) identities. In addition to blacklists, white lists, heuristics, and classifications used in the state-of-the-art systems, we propose to consider websites’ identity claims. To enable secure transactions ,Password hashing has been done with MD5 hashing algorithms that strengthens web password authentication. It is also shown that getting original password from hashed form is not an easy task due to addition of salt value. If the user is valid, get a session key via mobile, through which further access can be don

Seroprevalence of hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus co-infection in human immunodeficiency virus infected patients at a tertiary care hospital in South India

Background: About one third of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected patients are co infected with either hepatitis B virus (HBV) or hepatitis C virus (HCV) as the three viruses have similar routes of transmission that is through transfusion of blood and blood products, sharing of needles to inject drugs and unprotected sexual activity. The survival of HIV infected patients has been markedly improved with highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). However several studies showed that the liver diseases caused by HBV or HCV have emerged as one of the leading causes of non AIDS related deaths in HIV patients. The objective of this work was to study the prevalence of HBV & HCV co-infection in HIV infected patients at a Tertiary care centre in South India. Methods: The study group includes 100 HIV seropositive individuals confirmed by three rapid tests as per NACO (National AIDS Control Organization) guidelines in ICTC (Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre), Department of Microbiology, Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. Age and sex matched 100 HIV seronegative individuals were also included in the study as controls. Both the groups were screened for detection of HBV and HCV markers by one rapid test and a solid phase enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (sandwich ELISA).Results: Out of 100 HIV positive patients in the study group 12(12%) were co infected with HBV and 2(2%) were co infected with HCV. Out of 12 HIV and HBV co infected patients 7(58.3%) were females and 5(41.7%) were males. The HIV &HCV co infected patients were both females. Co infection of HBV & HCV with HIV was found to be 0(0%). Co infection was most commonly seen in the age group 31-40 years followed by 21 – 39 years. In the control group out of 100 HIV negative individuals, 1(1%) was infected with HBV infection. Conclusions: The routine screening of HBV and HCV should be mandatory for HIV infected patients, as there is more chance of co infection with these Hepatitis viruses due to enhanced immunodeficiency by HIV and similar routes of transmission. Clear National policies should be established which should include clear economic and health care strategies to improve quality of living conditions, education and easy access to health care facilities.
