An Ecological Alarm Bell: Liu Cixin’s Science Fiction The Wandering Earth

    Get PDF
The Wandering Earth is another masterpiece of Liu Cixin after The Three, and later adapted into a film. After its release, the film has won high reputation at home and abroad. It can be regarded as a milestone of Chinese science fiction movies. From the perspective of Western eco-criticism, the future ecological environment described in the work is fragmented; the earth disaster which has been redeemed by human beings continues, and finally falls into ruins; human beings abandon religious ethics and humanistic arts, and their spirit falls into confusion and fear. The work provides us with the possibility of the future development of human living environment and spiritual thought, aiming at awakening human’s ecological consciousness and restoring human’s respect for natural ecology.

Sidney Shapiro’s Translation Style: On the English Translation of the Wine Names in the Outlaws of the Marsh

Pearl Buck’s version All Men are Brothers has always been widely praised as the most faithful version, and Shapiro’s version has been called in line with the reading habits of Western readers. Based on the comparison of the translated wine names in Pearl S. Buck’s All Men are Brothers and American Jewish scholar Sidney Shapiro’s Outlaws of the Marsh, it is found that the syntactic form of the Sidney Shapiro’s version is flexible, meanwhile the cultural image and semantic processing of wine names are relatively accurate. It conveys the connotation of the original text. Then the author tries to explain the conclusion of the text research through the background and process of Shapiro’s translation of 水浒传. The acceptance of his version in the western world also proves that Shapiro has made an important contribution to the cultural communication between the East and the West.

Novel Isolated Multiport DC Converter with Natural Bipolar Symmetry for Renewable Energy Source Integration to DC Grids

    Get PDF
Due to their greater reliability, efficiency, and resilience as compared to unipolar dc grid systems, bipolar dc grid systems are swiftly gaining popularity for the integration of renewable energy sources. However, development of multiport converters for bipolar microgrid systems is still progressing slowly in terms of reducing costs or improving power density and compact designs. This paper proposes a multiport isolated dc-dc converter with naturally symmetric bipolar outputs (MIBDC). With respect to the number of input ports, voltage gain, and output symmetry that the proposed converter naturally possesses, it outperforms its few competitors. Additionally, the proposed MIBDC significantly reduces component count and control complexity by employing a fixed transformer with only one primary and secondary winding for any number of inputs. The suggested converter’s performance in both open and closed loops is evaluated quantitatively in simulation and experimentally using OPAL-OP5700 RT’s hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) platform under various situations.publishedVersio

Collaborative Optimal Formation Control for Heterogeneous Multi-Agent Systems

    No full text
In this paper, the distributed optimal control method is used to study the cooperative formation of heterogeneous multi-agents in the air–ground environment. The considered system consists of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). The optimal control theory is introduced into the formation control protocol, the distributed optimal formation control protocol is designed, and the stability is verified by graph theory. Furthermore, the cooperative optimal formation control protocol is designed, and the stability is analyzed using a block Kronecker product and matrix transformation theory. Through the comparison of simulation results, the introduction of optimal control theory shortens the formation time of the system and accelerates the convergence speed of the system

Tiaolipiwei Acupuncture Reduces Albuminuria by Alleviating Podocyte Lesions in a Rat Model of Diabetic Nephropathy

Background. Diabetic nephropathy is a common and serious complication of diabetes and a major cause of end-stage renal disease. Tiaolipiwei acupuncture is a safe treatment approach that may be effective for lowering albuminuria in diabetic nephropathy. Yet, the exact mechanisms of this therapeutic effect are unclear. Methods. A rodent model of type 2 diabetic nephropathy (T2DN) was induced by a high-fat diet combined with low-dose streptozotocin. T2DN rats were treated with Tiaolipiwei acupuncture (ACU) for 4, 8, or 12 weeks. At the end of treatment, urinary and blood samples were collected for analysis. Transmission electron microscopy was used to observe morphological changes, and protein expression levels of nephrin, CD2AP, podocalyxin, and desmin were quantified in renal tissue. Results. Compared to the T2DN groups, the T2DN + ACU groups showed significant improvements in 24-hour urinary protein, serum urea, cholesterol, and triglycerides at all time points. ACU treatment also improved the density of slit diaphragms. Simultaneously, ACU promoted the renal expression of nephrin, CD2AP, and podocalyxin and decreased the expression of desmin. Conclusion. Our study suggests that Tiaolipiwei acupuncture ameliorates podocyte lesions to reduce albuminuria and prevent the progression of T2DN in a rat model

Efficacy and safety of fire-needle in the treatment of gouty arthritis: a protocol for systematic review and meta analysis

    No full text
Background Fire needle therapy is an ancient external treatment method of traditional Chinese medicine. This therapy is simple to operate and has fewer side effects. Gouty arthritis is common disease that is often characterized by high excruciating pain on joint. Evidence from clinical studies show that fire needle exert therapeutic effects on gout arthritis, but no evidence-based medicine is available. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of fire acupuncture in the treatment of gout arthritis. Methods Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of fire needle in the treatment of GA published until May,2020 will be searched in the English databases (PubMed, EMBASE, web of science, the Cochrane Library)and Chinese databases (China National Knowledge Infrastructure, the Chongqing VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database, Wanfang database, and China biomedical literature database). Additional search will be performed on Google academy and Baidu Academy. Data will be extracted from the studies by two reviewers working independently. Subsequently, quality assessment and a meta-analysis will be carried out for the studies using RevMan 5.3. Results The efficacy and safety of fire needle in the treatment of GA will be evaluated based on overall effective rate, VAS, BUA, CRP, joint swelling and pain score, adverse reaction rate, and other clinical outcomes. Conclusions The proposed systematic review and meta-analysis are expected to provide reliable evidence for the clinical benefits of fire-needle therapy in GA

Positivity Rate Investigation and Anthelmintic Resistance Analysis of Gastrointestinal Nematodes in Sheep and Cattle in Ordos, China

Gastrointestinal nematodes (GINs), such as Trichostrongylidae, are important pathogens in small ruminants, causing significant losses in these livestock species. Despite their veterinary importance, GINs have not been studied in certain regions of the world. Therefore, much of their epidemiology and economic impact on production remain unknown. In the present study, a systematic epidemiological survey based on the modified McMaster technique was conducted to investigate the type and infection of GINs in sheep and cattle. In 9622 fecal samples from 491 sampling sites in the four main banner districts of Ordos, the prevalence of GIN infection was found to be 38.84% and 4.48% in sheep and cattle, respectively. At the same time, the effects of four pasture types on the distribution of GINs were analyzed. This study also found severe resistance to ivermectin and albendazole in GINs and suspected anthelmintic resistance in nitroxynil, levamisole and closantel. We report the type and infection of GINs in Ordos, with the aim to help the prevention and control of GINs. Based on the results of the questionnaire survey and GIN resistance test, we found several reasons for the anthelmintic resistance of GINs, consequently providing new ideas for controlling the occurrence of anthelmintic resistance
