A high-performance data structure for mobile information systems
Mobile information systems can now be provided on small form-factor computers. Dictionary-based data compression extends the capabilities of systems with limited processing and memory to enable data intensive applications to be supported in such environments. The nature of judicial sentencing decisions requires that a support system provides accurate and up-to-date data and is compatible with the professional working experience of a judge. The difficulties caused by mobility and the data dependence of the decision-making process are addressed by an Internet-based architecture for collecting and distributing system data.We describe an approach to dictionary-based data compression and the structure of an information system that makes use of this technology

Content and turnover rates of phosphorus in Daphnia pulex : Effect of food quality
The content of phosphorus in individual Daphnia pulex and the rates at which the element turns over are functions of the P contents of algal cells fed to the zooplankton. Chlamydomonas and Ankistrodesmus were grown in semi-continuous cultures containing 2 ”M and 10 ”M PO 4 to produce differences in cellular P of the algae. Animals reared on the cultures high in P contained 60 percent more P than did animals of equal size that were fed low P cells. Daphnia with high body contents of P turned over that P faster than did the animals fed low P algae. Spin Waves in Disordered III-V Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors
We propose a new scheme for numerically computing collective-mode spectra for
large-size systems, using a reformulation of the Random Phase Approximation. In
this study, we apply this method to investigate the spectrum and nature of the
spin-waves of a (III,Mn)V Diluted Magnetic Semiconductor. We use an impurity
band picture to describe the interaction of the charge carriers with the local
Mn spins. The spin-wave spectrum is shown to depend sensitively on the
positional disorder of the Mn atoms inside the host semiconductor. Both
localized and extended spin-wave modes are found. Unusual spin and charge

Simulation of Main Memory Database Recovery
In a main memory database (MMDB), the primary copy of the database may reside permanently in a volatile memory. When a system failure occurs, the database must be reloaded efficiently from archive memory into main memory. This paper presents four different reload schemes and the simulation models constructed to compare the algorithms. Three-body Faddeev Calculation for 11Li with Separable Potentials
The halo nucleus Li is treated as a three-body system consisting of an
inert core of Li plus two valence neutrons. The Faddeev equations are
solved using separable potentials to describe the two-body interactions,
corresponding in the n-Li subsystem to a p resonance plus a
virtual s-wave state. The experimental Li energy is taken as input and

Effect of bath ionic strength on adhesion and tribological properties of pure nickel and nickel composite coatings
The effect of electrolytic chemical concentration on wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, adhesion and wettability properties of pure nickel and nickel-alumina composite coatings has been investigated in this paper. Coatings were electroplated over steel substrates under constant pulse conditions using pulse electrodeposition technique. Corrosion-resistant results show that the anti-corrosion properties are increasing with medium concentration both for pure nickel and nickel-alumina composite coating. For anti-wear properties the medium concentration showed increasing trend in case of pure nickel coatings but decreased in nickel-alumina composite coatings. In composite coating the higher and low concentrations of electrolyte showed the higher wear resistance properties. Furthermore, the influence of electrolyte concentration on changing surface morphologies, mechanical, wettability and adhesion properties have been investigated and reported here. Surface morphologies of the coatings were examined using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy.
