    The Semileptonic Decays Dπ(ρ)eνD\to \pi(\rho) e \nu and Bπ(ρ)eνB\to \pi (\rho) e \nu from QCD Sum Rules

    We investigate the semileptonic decays of B and D mesons into π\pi and ρ\rho mesons, respectively, by means of QCD sum rules. We find that for the vector formfactors involved the pole dominance hypothesis is valid to good accuracy with pole masses in the expected range. Pole dominance, however, does not apply to the axial formfactors which results in specific predictions for the predominant polarization of the ρ\rho meson and the shape of the lepton spectrum. For the total decay rates we find Γ(Bˉ0π+eνˉ)=(5.1±1.1)Vub21012s1\Gamma (\bar B^0 \to \pi^+ e^- \bar\nu) = (5.1\pm 1.1)\,|V_{ub}|^2\, 10^{12}\,{\rm s^{-1}}, Γ(D0πe+ν)=(8.0±1.7)Vcd21010s1\Gamma ( D^0 \to \pi^- e^+ \nu) = (8.0\pm 1.7)\,|V_{cd}|^2\, 10^{10}\,{\rm s^{-1}}, Γ(Bˉ0ρ+eνˉ)=(1.2±0.4)Vub21013s1\Gamma (\bar B^0 \to \rho^+ e^- \bar\nu) = (1.2\pm 0.4\,)\,|V_{ub}|^2\, 10^{13}\,{\rm s^{-1}} and Γ(D0ρe+ν)=(2.4±0.7)Vcd2109s1\Gamma (D^0 \to \rho^- e^+\nu) = (2.4\pm 0.7)\,|V_{cd}|^2\, 10^{9}\,{\rm s^{-1}}.Comment: 23 pages, 12 figures included as uu-encoded file, needs REVTEX, TUM--T31--39/9

    The transition form factors for semi-leptonic weak decays of J/ψJ/\psi in QCD sum rules

    Within the Standard Model, we investigate the semi-leptonic weak decays of J/ψJ/\psi. The various form factors of J/ψJ/\psi transiting to a single charmed meson (D(d,s)()D^{(*)}_{(d,s)}) are studied in the framework of the QCD sum rules. These form factors fully determine the rates of the weak semi-leptonic decays of J/ψJ/\psi and provide valuable information about the non-perturbative QCD effects. Our results indicate that the decay rate of the semi-leptonic weak decay mode J/ψDs()+e++νeJ/\psi \to D^{(*)-}_{s}+e^{+}+\nu_{e} is at order of 101010^{-10}.Comment: 28 pages, 6 figures, revised version to be published in Eur.Phys.J.

    In this article, we study the vertices DDVDDV and DDVD^*DV with the light-cone QCD sum rules. The strong coupling constants gDDVg_{DDV} and fDDVf_{D^*DV} play an important role in understanding the final-state re-scattering effects in the hadronic B decays.     Flavour SU(3) Symmetry in Charmless B Decays

    QCD sum rules are used to estimate the flavour SU(3)-symmetry violation in two-body B decays to pions and kaons. In the factorizable amplitudes the SU(3)-violation manifests itself in the ratio of the decay constants f_K/f_pi and in the differences between the B->K, B_s->K and B->pi form factors. These effects are calculated from the QCD two-point and light-cone sum rules, respectively, in terms of the strange quark mass and the ratio of the strange and nonstrange quark-condensate densities. Importantly, QCD sum rules predict that SU(3) breaking in the heavy-to-light form factors can be substantial and does not vanish in the heavy-quark mass limit. Furthermore, we investigate the strange-quark mass dependence of nonfactorizable effects in the B->K pi decay amplitudes.     Sorting Insiders From Co-Workers: Remote Synchronous Computer-Mediated Triage for Investigating Insider Attacks

    Objective Develop and investigate the potential of a remote, computer-mediated and synchronous text-based triage, which we refer to as InSort, for quickly highlighting persons of interest after an insider attack. Background Insiders maliciously exploit legitimate access to impair the confidentiality and integrity of organizations. The globalisation of organisations and advancement of information technology means employees are often dispersed across national and international sites, working around the clock, often remotely. Hence, investigating insider attacks is challenging. However, the cognitive demands associated with masking insider activity offer opportunities. Drawing on cognitive approaches to deception and understanding of deception-conveying features in textual responses, we developed InSort, a remote computer-mediated triage. Method During a 6-hour immersive simulation, participants worked in teams, examining password protected, security sensitive databases and exchanging information during an organized crime investigation. Twenty-five percent were covertly incentivized to act as an ‘insider’ by providing information to a provocateur. Results Responses to InSort questioning revealed insiders took longer to answer investigation relevant questions, provided impoverished responses, and their answers were less consistent with known evidence about their behaviours than co-workers. Conclusion Findings demonstrate InSort has potential to expedite information gathering and investigative processes following an insider attack. Application InSort is appropriate for application by non-specialist investigators and can be quickly altered as a function of both environment and event. InSort offers a clearly defined, well specified, approach for use across insider incidents, and highlights the potential of technology for supporting complex time critical investigations

    Analysis of Supersymmetric Effects on B -> phi K Decays in the PQCD Approach

    We study the effects of the MSSM contribution on B -> phi K decays using the perturbative QCD approach. In this approach, strong phases can be calculated, so that we can predict the values of CP asymmetries with the MSSM contribution. We predict a large relative strong phase between the penguin amplitude and the chromomagnetic penguin amplitude. If there is a new CP violating phase in the chromomagnetic penguin amplitude, then the CP asymmetries may change significantly from the SM prediction. We parametrize the new physics contributions that appear in the Wilson coefficients. We maximize the new physics parameters up to the point where it is limited by experimental constraints. In the case of the LR insertion, we find that the direct CP asymmetries can reach about 85% and the indirect CP asymmetry can reach about -30%.Comment: 18 pages, 9 figures, REVTeX, Minor changes, Version to appear in Phys.     Resummation of Running Coupling Effects in Semileptonic B Meson Decays and Extraction of Vcb|V_{cb}|

    We present a determination of Vcb|V_{cb}| from semileptonic B decays that includes resummation of supposedly large perturbative corrections, originating from the running of the strong coupling. We argue that the low value of the BLM scale found previously for inclusive decays is a manifestation of the renormalon divergence of the perturbative series starting already in third order. A reliable determination of Vcb|V_{cb}| from inclusive decays is possible if one either uses a short-distance b quark mass or eliminates all unphysical mass parameters in terms of measured observables, such that all infra-red contributions of order 1/mb1/m_b cancel explicitly. We find that using the MS\overline{\rm MS} running mass significantly reduces the perturbative coefficients already in low orders. For a semileptonic branching ratio of 10.9%10.9\% we obtain Vcb(τB/1.50ps)1/2=0.041±0.002|V_{cb}|(\tau_B/1.50\,{\rm ps})^{1/2}= 0.041\pm 0.002 from inclusive decays, in good agreement with the value extracted from exclusive decays.Comment: 37 pages + 4 figures, final version accepted for publication in Phys.     Unitarity Constraints on the B and B^* Form Factors from QCD Analyticity and Heavy Meson Spin Symmetry

    A method of deriving bounds on the weak meson form factors, based on perturbative QCD, analyticity and unitarity, is generalized in order to fully exploit heavy quark spin symmetry in the ground state (L=0)(L=0) doublet of pseudoscalar (B)(B) and vector (B)(B^*) mesons. All the relevant form factors of these mesons are taken into account in the unitarity sum. They are treated as independent functions along the timelike axis, being related by spin symmetry only near the zero recoil point. Heavy quark vacuum polarisation up to three loops in perturbative QCD and the experimental cross sections σ(e+eΥ)\sigma(e^+e^- \rightarrow \Upsilon) are used as input. We obtain bounds on the charge radius of the elastic form factor of the BB meson, which considerably improve previous results derived in the same framework.Comment: 13 pages LaTex, 1 figure as a separate ps fil

    New Source of CP violation in B physics ?

    In this talk we discuss how the down type left-right squark mixing in Supersymmetry can induce a new source of CP violation in the time dependent asymmtries in B --> phi K process. We use QCD improved factorization process to calculate the hadronic matrix element for the process and find the allowed parameter space for ρ\rho and ϕ\phi , the magnitude and phase of the down type LR(RL) squark mixing parameter δLR(RL)bs\delta^{bs}_{LR(RL)}.
