Loosely Synchronised Spreading Code Aided Network Performance of Quasi-Synchronous UTRA-like TDD and FDD CDMA Systems

    No full text
It is demonstrated that loosely synchronised (LS) spreading codes exhibit a so-called interference-free window, where both the autocorrelation and cross-correlation of the codes become zero. Therefore LS codes have the promise of mitigating the effects of both inter-symbolinterference and multiple-access-interference in time dispersive channels. Hence, LS codes have the potential of increasing the capacity of CDMA networks. The work reported has studied the achievable network performance and compared it to that of a UTRA-like time division duplex (TDD) and frequency division duplex (FDD) CDMA system using orthogonal variable rate spreading factor codes

Loosely synchronized spreading code aided network performance of quasi-synchronous UTRA-like TDD/CDMA systems

In this paper we investigate the achievable capacity of a UTRA-like Time Division Duplex (TDD) Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system employing Loosely Synchronized (LS) spreading codes. The family of operational CDMA systems is interference limited, suffering from Inter-Symbol-Interference (ISI), since the orthogonality of the spreading sequences is destroyed by the frequency selective channel. They also suffer from Multiple-Access-Interference (MAI) owing to the non-zero cross-correlations of the spreading codes. By contrast, the family of LS codes exhibits a so-called Interference Free Window (IFW), where both the auto-correlation and cross-correlation of the codes become zero. Therefore LS codes have the promise of mitigating the effects of both ISI and MAI in time dispersive channels. Hence, LS codes have the potential of increasing the capacity of CDMA networks. This contribution studies the achievable network performance in comparison to that of a UTRA-like TDD/CDMA system using Orthogonal Vari- MSO able Rate Spreading Factor (OVSF) codes

The effect of the motion of the Sun on the light-time in interplanetary relativistic experiments

In 2002 a measurement of the effect of solar gravity upon the phase of coherent microwave beams passing near the Sun has been carried out with the Cassini mission, allowing a very accurate measurement of the PPN parameter γ\gamma. The data have been analyzed with NASA's Orbit Determination Program (ODP) in the Barycentric Celestial Reference System, in which the Sun moves around the centre of mass of the solar system with a velocity v⊙v_\odot of about 10 m/sec; the question arises, what correction this implies for the predicted phase shift. After a review of the way the ODP works, we set the problem in the framework of Lorentz (and Galilean) transformations and evaluate the correction; it is several orders of magnitude below our experimental accuracy. We also discuss a recent paper \cite{kopeikin07}, which claims wrong and much larger corrections, and clarify the reasons for the discrepancy.Comment: Final version accepted by Classical and Quantum Gravity (8 Jan. 2008

    An optimal gap theorem

    Get PDF
By solving the Cauchy problem for the Hodge-Laplace heat equation for dd-closed, positive (1,1)(1, 1)-forms, we prove an optimal gap theorem for K\"ahler manifolds with nonnegative bisectional curvature which asserts that the manifold is flat if the average of the scalar curvature over balls of radius rr centered at any fixed point oo is a function of o(r−2)o(r^{-2}). Furthermore via a relative monotonicity estimate we obtain a stronger statement, namely a `positive mass' type result, asserting that if (M,g)(M, g) is not flat, then lim inf⁡r→∞r2Vo(r)∫Bo(r)S(y) dμ(y)>0\liminf_{r\to \infty} \frac{r^2}{V_o(r)}\int_{B_o(r)}\mathcal{S}(y)\, d\mu(y)>0 for any o∈Mo\in M

Development on tourism sector in Bali Island carried great implication to Balinese costumes and culture. Many cases on Balinese costumes and culture were raised such as costume and culture values infraction, conflict between local community with investor, and others. The present community services were aimed to give consultation in order to solve of many problems related to Balinese customary. The conducted services were giving consultation and assistance to the communities which had problems. Issues raised on the consultation were discussed and publicized to Bali costumes community. The activities of community services were located at Graduate School of Udayana University building, Denpasar. Result showed that this unit has gained a positive response, which indicated by number of people using this services as well as number of books being sold. In ten months, 3000 books have been sold or approximately 300 books per month. Majority (almost 80%) were bought by government institutions, which then distributed it to the community; while the rest 20% were bought by the individual. Meanwhile, in term of services, this unit was able to served 126 clients for consultation. They were mostly local Balinese people (around 80%), 15% were non-Bali citizen, and about 5% were expatriates. And besides those activities, this unit was also provided consultation services in the making of awig-awig (Balines custom regulation) for 3 desa adat in 2011. To sum up, during 10 months of operation, this unit has turnover reached IDR. 217,237,500 or equivalent to IDR 21,723,750 per month, with the following details: 1) sale of books at IDR 124,237,500; 2) consultation services at IDR 63,000,000; and 3) awig-awig consultation services at IDR. 30.000.000,-. Net cash flows, then, reached IDR 46,578,400, and about IDR 4,019,600 of the net cash flows were allocated for institution’s development program

Fermi Coordinates for Weak Gravitational Fields

A Reference is corrected. (We derive the Fermi coordinate system of an observer in arbitrary motion in an arbitrary weak gravitational field valid to all orders in the geodesic distance from the worldline of the observer. In flat space-time this leads to a generalization of Rindler space for arbitrary acceleration and rotation. The general approach is applied to the special case of an observer resting with respect to the weak gravitational field of a static mass distribution. This allows to make the correspondence between general relativity and Newtonian gravity more precise.)Comment: 7 Pages, Preprint KONS-RGKU-94-04, LaTe
