    1,3-Thiazolidin-4-one derivatives with a exocyclic C=C double bond in position 2 of the hetero ring have a wide spectrum of biological activity, but their fungicidal activity has not been studied as much as it should be. This paper presents a simple and convenient approach for obtaining potential antifungal agents based on 2-(4-oxo-1,3-thiazolidin-2-ylidene)acetamides. The first examples of evaluating the fungicidal activity of 8 obtained compounds on 8 strains of phytopathogenic fungi are presented. A highly active compound 4e with EC50 of 0.85 and 2.29 µg/mL against A. solani and P. lingam, respectively, was found to be promising for further study

    The 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on health and economies around the world. Direct myocardial injury and cytokine storm, leading to destabilization of preexisting plaques and accelerated formation of new plaques, are two mechanisms that trigger the acute coronary syndrome in COVID-19. There is insufficient data on the immune status of patients with acute coronary syndrome who have undergone COVID-19. The aim of the study was to study T and B cell, humoral immunity depending on the number of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CD8+) in patients with acute coronary syndrome who underwent COVID-19. Materials and methods of research: 65 men with unstable angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction (acute coronary syndrome) from 40 to 65 years old, who had previously had COVID-19, were examined. A study of peripheral blood was carried out: complete blood count (Medonic device, Sweden), general and specific IgM, IgG, IgA, compliment fragments (Vector Best, Russia). Subpopulations of T and B lymphocytes were determined by flow cytometry. In persons with acute coronary syndrome who underwent COVID-19 with predominantly normal and elevated levels of cytotoxic T cells, a more severe course of the disease was observed: patients with acute myocardial infarction prevailed, they had longer mortality, longer treatment duration, and stent thrombosis was more common. In patients with elevated cytotoxic T cells, there was a maximum increase in erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, lymphocytes of both the total number and subpopulations – T helpers, T-NK lymphocytes, NK lymphocytes, T lymphocytes of early and late activation, B1 and B2 lymphocytes, index of NBT-induced test. In patients with normal levels of NK cells, compared with other groups, there was an increase in spontaneous NBT activity and index, a significant decrease in C3a and C5a complement fragments. Prevalence of stent thrombosis and mortality in the group of patients with normal levels of cytotoxic T cells may indicate torpidity of the immune system in these patients with poor outcomes

    This article presents information about the distribution of antigens of the second class in patients with papulo-pustular and nodulous forms of acne. Class II antigens distribution was estimated as the total Group and groups of patients allocated depending on the severity of the clinical picture. Association revealed the presence of severe acne with antigens of histocompatibility of HLA-complex that confirms the importance of immunogenetic factors in the pathogenesis of this condition

    Concurrent thermochemoradiotherapy for brain high-grade glioma

    Despite the achievements in the current strategies for treatment, the prognosis in malignant glioma patients remains unsatisfactory. Hyperthermia is currently considered to be the most effective and universal modifier of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Preliminary treatment outcomes for 28 patients with newly diagnosed (23) and recurrent (5) high-grade gliomas were presented. All the patients received multimodality treatment including surgery, thermoche-moradiotherapy followed by 4 cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy. All the patients endured thermochemoradiotherapy well. A complication, limited skin burn (II stage), was diagnosed in two cases and treated conservatively without treatment interruption. A month after thermochemoradiotherapy the results were as follows: complete regression was achieved in 4 cases, partial regression in 4 cases, stable disease in 14 cases and disease progression in 6 cases (one of them is pseudo-progression). After completing the adjuvant chemotherapy 2 more patients demonstrated complete response and 1 patient had disease progression. Introduction of local hyperthermia in multimodal therapy of malignant glioma does not impair the combined modality treatment tolerability of patients with malignant gliomas. A small number of studied patients and short follow-up time do not allow making reliable conclusions about the impact of local hyperthermia on the treatment outcomes; however, there is a tendency towards the increase in disease-free survival in the patients with newly diagnosed malignant gliomas

    Concurrent Thermochemoradiotherapy in Glioblastoma Treatment: Preliminary Results

    Glioblastoma is the most frequent and aggressive primary brain tumor. The patient can be alive with this pathology using the modern standard of intensive combined treatment less than 2 years. Between December 2013 and August 2017, 30 patients with newly diagnosed supratentorial glioblastoma had received concomitant chemoradiotherapy with transcranial radiofrequency hyperthermia. The gross total or the subtotal resection of the tumor was made previously in all cases. The median follow-up time after operation achieved 12 months (95% confidence interval (CI): 8.5–23 months) in this study. The median disease-free survival time was 9.6 months (95% CI: 7.2–19.0 months). The median overall survival time of patients included in the study was 23.4 months. No increase in the systemic side effects of chemotherapy was found compared with the frequency described in the population. Preliminary results had shown that the usage of concomitant thermochemoradiotherapy with transcranial radiofrequency hyperthermia improves progression-free survival rates. Overall survival rates also tended to increase. Given the absence of severe complications, it is necessary to continue research to achieve statistically significant results

    During 1993—2016 there were treated 1255 children 9 months — 14 ages old with tick-bite infections in Kirov Infectious Clinical Hospital and 1214 children from them with the verified diagnosis of Lyme disease. Damage of nervous system was detected in 98 (8.1%) patients in the forms of serous meningitis, meningoencephalitis, polyneuropathies, neuropathies, disseminated encephalomyelitis, diencephalic syndrome with impaired thermal regulation. 45.9 % of cases were mixed-infection (tick-bite encephalitis and Lyme disease). За период с 1993 по 2016 гг. в Кировской инфекционной клинической больнице (КИКБ) было пролечено 1255 детей в возрасте от 9 месяцев до 14 лет с клещевыми инфекциями, из них 1214 детей с верифицированным диагнозом болезнь Лайма (БЛ). Поражение нервной системы обнаружено у 98 (8,1%) пациентов в виде серозных менингитов, менингоэнцефалитов, полинейропатий, нейропатий, диссеминированных энцефаломиелитов, диэнцефального синдрома с нарушением терморегуляции. В 45,9 % случаев была микст-инфекция (клещевой энцефалит и БЛ).

    Detection of highly conductive surface electron states in topological crystalline insulators Pb1−xSnxSe using laser terahertz radiation

    We suggest a method for detection of highly conductive surface electron states including topological ones. The method is based on measurements of the photoelectromagnetic effect using terahertz laser pulses. In contrast to conventional transport measurements, the method is not sensitive to the bulk conductivity. The method is demonstrated on an example of topological crystalline insulators Pb1−xSnxSe. It is shown that highly conductive surface electron states are present in Pb1−xSnxSe both in the inverse and direct electron energy spectrum

    The study presents the results of an experimental study devoted to the choice of the most optimal mode of pulsed contact laser exposure of semiconductor laser with a wavelength of 445 nm in phonosurgery, which implies maximum preservation of anatomically and functionally significant structures of the larynx combined with a radical approach to the pathological process. From the standpoint of the mucoundular theory of voice formation, wave-like oscillations of the vocal folds are possible due to the mobility of the cover layer of the vocal fold (epithelium, superficial layer of the lamina propria) relative to its body (deep layer of the lamina propria, vocal muscle). Thus, any injury at the level of the integumentary layer is associated with the risk of excessive scarring and loss of the ability to wave-like sliding. Pig vocal folds, according to a number of authors, have a structure similar to human ones in terms of both histological structure and acoustic parameters, which justifies the rationality of their use as an experimental model. In a series of experiments using a 445 nm laser, contact pulsed impacts on a biological model were carried out with pulse durations of 10, 20, 50, and 100 ms, followed by evaluation of the following parameters based on the data of histological sections: the depth and width of the ablation crater, the width of the zone of lateral thermal damage. Thus, the most optimal for phonosurgical interventions modes of pulsed laser exposures with a wavelength of 445 nm are described.В работе представлены результаты экспериментального исследования, посвященного выбору наиболее оптимального режима импульсного контактного лазерного воздействия полупроводникового лазера с длиной волны 445 нм в хирургии голосовых складок (фонохирургии). Эндоларингеальная фонохирургия подразумевает собой максимальную сохранность анатомически и функционально значимых структур гортани в сочетании с радикальностью в отношении патологического процесса. С позиции мукоундулярной теории голосообразования волнообразные колебания голосовых складок возможны за счет подвижности покровного слоя голосовой складки (эпителий, поверхностный слой собственной пластинки) относительно ее тела (глубокий слой собственной пластинки, голосовая мышца). Таким образом, любая травматизация на уровне покровного слоя сопряжена с риском его избыточного рубцевания и потерей способности к волнообразному скольжению. Голосовые складки свиньи, по данным ряда авторов, имеют схожее строение с человеческими как по гистологическому строению (толщина слоев, соотношение коллагеновых и эластических волокон), так и по акустическим параметрам, что обосновывает рациональность их использования в качестве экспериментальной модели. В серии экспериментов с использованием лазера 445 нм проведены контактные импульсные воздействия на биологическую модель с длительностью импульсов 10, 20, 50 и 100 мс с последующей оценкой по данным гистологических срезов следующих параметров: глубина и ширина кратера абляции, ширина зоны бокового термического повреждения. Таким образом, описаны наиболее оптимальные для фонохирургических вмешательств режимы импульсных воздействий лазера с длиной волны 445 нм
