New extended Crewther-type relation
We propose a conjecture about the detailed structure of the conformal
symmetry breaking term in the generalized Crewther relation. We conclude that
this conjecture leads to new relations between the QCD expansion coefficients
of the Adler D-function and the polarized Bjorken sum rule BComment: Second part of the talk presented at RADCOR2009-9th International

Theoretical backgrounds of durability analysis by normalized equivalent stress functionals
Generalized durability diagrams and their properties are considered for a material under a multiaxial loading given by an arbitrary function of time. Material strength and durability under such loading are described in terms of durability, safety factor and normalized equivalent stress. Relations between these functionals are analysed. We discuss some material properties including time and load stability, self-degradation (ageing), and monotonic damaging. Phenomenological strength conditions are presented in terms of the normalized equivalent stress. It is shown that the damage based durability analysis is reduced to a particular case of such strength conditions. Examples of the reduction are presented for some known durability models. The approach is applicable to the strength and durability description at creep and impact loading and their combination
Ground experiments for finding principles and working out methods for preventing adverse effects of weightlessness on the human organism
A comparative assessment of the effectiveness of different prophylactic procedures to prevent the adverse effects of weightlessness is presented. It is concluded that: physical training is most effective but no single method by itself produces the full effect, and an adjustment of regimes to one another enhances the effect. The approved complex of prophylactic procedures affected basic changes occurring in hypokinesia: deficit of muscular activity, no or reduced BP hydrostatic component, reduced volume of blood circulation, reduced hydration level, and the application of various prophylactic complexes during 49 day antiorthostatic hypodynamia eliminated or reduced the adverse effects of weightlessness in simulation
Numerical solution and spectrum of boundary-domain integral equation for the Neumann BVP with variable coefficient
This is the post-print version of the Article. The official published version can be accessed from the link below - Copyright @ 2012 Taylor & Francis. In this paper, a numerical implementation of a direct united boundary-domain integral equation (BDIE) related to the Neumann boundary value problem for a scalar elliptic partial differential equation with a variable coefficient is discussed. The BDIE is reduced to a uniquely solvable one by adding an appropriate perturbation operator. The mesh-based discretization of the BDIEs with quadrilateral domain elements leads to a system of linear algebraic equations (discretized BDIE). Then, the system is solved by LU decomposition and Neumann iterations. Convergence of the iterative method is discussed in relation to the distribution of eigenvalues of the corresponding discrete operators calculated numerically. The work was supported by the grant EP/H020497/1 "Mathematical analysis of localised boundary-domain integral equations for BVPs with variable coefficients" of the EPSRC, UK
Microwave-induced magnetotransport phenomena in two-dimensional electron systems: Importance of electrodynamic effects
We discuss possible origins of recently discovered microwave induced
photoresistance oscillations in very-high-electron-mobility two-dimensional
electron systems. We show that electrodynamic effects -- the radiative decay,
plasma oscillations, and retardation effects, -- are important under the
experimental conditions, and that their inclusion in the theory is essential
for understanding the discussed and related microwave induced magnetotransport
phenomena.Comment: 5 pages, including 2 figures and 1 tabl
Theory of the microwave induced zero resistance states in two-dimensional electron systems
The phenomena of the microwave induced zero resistance states (MIZRS) and the
microwave induced resistance oscillations (MIRO) were discovered in the
ultraclean two-dimensional electron systems in 2001 -- 2003 and have attracted
great interest of researchers. In spite of numerous theoretical efforts the
true origin of these effects remains unknown so far. We show that the MIRO/ZRS
phenomena are naturally explained by the influence of the ponderomotive forces
which arise in the near-contact regions of the two-dimensional electron gas
under the action of microwaves. The proposed analytical theory is in agreement
with all experimental facts accumulated so far and provides a simple and
self-evident explanation of the microwave frequency, polarization, magnetic
field, mobility, power and temperature dependencies of the observed effects.Comment: 18 pages, 9 figures, resubmission. Essential modifications/additions:

Pre-storm NmF2 enhancements at middle latitudes: delusion or reality?
A critical analysis of recent publications devoted
to the NmF2 pre-storm enhancements is performed.
There are no convincing arguments that the observed cases
of NmF2 enhancements at middle and sub-auroral latitudes
bear a relation to the following magnetic storms. In all cases
considered the NmF2 pre-storm enhancements were due to
previous geomagnetic storms, moderate auroral activity or
they presented the class of positive quiet time events (Q-disturbances).
Therefore, it is possible to conclude that there
is no such an effect as the pre-storm NmF2 enhancement as
a phenomenon inalienably related to the following magnetic
storm. The observed nighttime NmF2 enhancements at subauroral
latitudes may result from plasma transfer from the
plasma ring area by meridional thermospheric wind. Enhanced
plasmaspheric fluxes into the nighttime F2-region resulted
from westward substorm-associated electric fields is
another possible source of nighttime NmF2 enhancements.
Daytime positive Q-disturbances occurring under very low
geomagnetic activity level may be related to the dayside cusp
activity
