Lepton flavor-changing Scalar Interactions and Muon
A systematic investigation on muon anomalous magnetic moment and related
lepton flavor-violating process such as \m\to e\g, \t\to e\g and \t\to
\m\g is made at two loop level in the models with flavor-changing scalar
interactions. The two loop diagrams with double scalar exchanges are studied
and their contributions are found to be compatible with the ones from Barr-Zee
diagram. By comparing with the latest data, the allowed ranges for the relevant
Yukawa couplings in lepton sector are obtained. The results show a
hierarchical structure of Y_{\m e, \t e} \ll Y_{\m \t} \simeq Y_{\m\m} in the
physical basis if is found to be . It
deviates from the widely used ansatz in which the off diagonal elements are
proportional to the square root of the products of related fermion masses. An
alternative Yukawa coupling matrix in the lepton sector is suggested to
understand the current data. With such a reasonable Yukawa coupling ansatz, the
decay rate of \t\to \m\g is found to be near the current experiment upper
bound.Comment: 15 pages, Revtex, 9 figures, published version in EPJ
Phased models for evaluating the performability of computing systems
A phase-by-phase modelling technique is introduced to evaluate a fault tolerant system's ability to execute different sets of computational tasks during different phases of the control process. Intraphase processes are allowed to differ from phase to phase. The probabilities of interphase state transitions are specified by interphase transition matrices. Based on constraints imposed on the intraphase and interphase transition probabilities, various iterative solution methods are developed for calculating system performability
Economic and environmental analysis of the introduction of legumes in livestock farming systems
Legumes in low input systems are becoming increasingly important. The socioeconomic implication of the adoption of novel legumes species has been assessed in sheep and dairy cattle grazing systems in Europe using a biological model which has been linked to linear programming models. In the economic sub-model, the mathematical programming models produce an economic evaluation of the legumes in a farming system context, emphasising the land allocation and the availability of nutrients during the different seasons of the production cycle. Then the paper evaluates the impact of adopting the legumes on the regional income and production. In the UK and Germany, the introduction of legumes results in sizeable gains for the farmers whereas in Italy and France the gains are smaller
On the duality relation for correlation functions of the Potts model
We prove a recent conjecture on the duality relation for correlation
functions of the Potts model for boundary spins of a planar lattice.
Specifically, we deduce the explicit expression for the duality of the n-site
correlation functions, and establish sum rule identities in the form of the
M\"obius inversion of a partially ordered set. The strategy of the proof is by
first formulating the problem for the more general chiral Potts model. The
extension of our consideration to the many-component Potts models is also
given.Comment: 17 pages in RevTex, 5 figures, submitted to J. Phys.
